The Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins will play a makeup game on April 8.

The NHL postponed a contest between the two squads that would have been played on Jan. 4th due to severe weather. As was the case with the original game, the April 8th contest will be hosted by the Boston Bruins. The start time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. This will extend the Bruins and Panthers' season by one day and mean that each squad will now finish the campaign with a stretch of three games in four days.

The NHL has postponed Thursday's contest between the Panthers and Bruins, which was going to be played in Boston.

A severe winter storm is the reason for the decision. The NHL hasn't rescheduled the game yet, but plan to announce the makeup date later. The contest would have started at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon is believed to be interested in talking to former NHL defensemen Phil Housley for the team's vacant head coaching position.

Housley is an assistant coach for Nashville, so Tallon can't speak to him yet. Florida has interviewed University of Denver coach Jim Montgomery and former Montreal coach Michel Therrien. It's believed that Washington assistant Todd Reirden is also on the Panthers' radar.
