Redskins released NT Ziggy Hood.

A starter the past two years, the 2009 first-rounder had played just 49 snaps so far this season. He had not been effective. With the Redskins since 2016, Hood turns 32 in February.

Redskins waived WR Breshad Perriman.

Paul Richardson (shoulder, knee) remains questionable for Sunday, but even that wasn't enough to keep Perriman in Washington. The Redskins took a no-risk flier on him just last week that clearly didn't work out. We expect he'll still find a home elsewhere soon.
Sep 22 - 9:56 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent Breshad Perriman is working out for the Redskins on Monday.

Perriman has visited the Jets, Bills, and Eagles already, and there were reports he had a visit scheduled with the Giants. It is possible he is looking for a 53-man roster spot which is just not available.
Sep 17 - 10:15 AM

Cardinals declared TE Jermaine Gresham, OL Korey Cunningham, QB Mike Glennon, DE Markus Golden, RB T.J. Logan, CB Deatrick Nichols and OL Jeremy Vujnovich inactive for Week 1 against the Redskins.

Gresham was able to practice this week but is still working back from a torn Achilles. He may have a chance to return in Week 2. DT Robert Nkemdiche (foot) and DT Olsen Pierre (toe) are both good to go after being listed as questionable.
Sep 9 - 3:02 PM

Broncos claimed QB Kevin Hogan off waivers from the Redskins.

Hogan's arrival likely means the end of former first-rounder Paxton Lynch's time in Denver. Hogan, who attempted 101 passes for the Browns between 2016-17, provides some experienced insurance behind Chad "Swag" Kelly in the No. 2 spot. It's possible the Broncos are claiming Hogan with an eye toward stashing him on the practice squad in a week or two.
Sep 2 - 12:48 PM

Redskins waived QB Kevin Hogan, S Quin Blanding, OT Kendall Calhoun, OT T.J. Clemmings, WR Simmie Cobbs, Jr., LB Vontae Diggs, LB Jerod Fernandez, WR Shay Fields, TE Matt Flanagan, TE J.P. Holtz, TE Garrett Hudson, CB Prince Charles Iworah, QB Connor Jessop, OG Kyle Kalis, WR Darvin Kidsey, OT John Kling, S Kenny Ladler, LB Cassanova McKinzy, LB Dadi Nicolas, OT Timon Parris, DL Ondre Pipkins, LB Pete Robertson, DL Dante Sawyer, RB De'Veon Smith, S Fish Smithson, LB Martrell Spaight, CB Ranthony Texada, DL JoJo Wicker, WR Daniel Williams III and OG Isaiah Williams.

The Redskins are keeping Alex Smith and Colt McCoy as their two quarterbacks. Washington also released RB Kapri Bibbs, DL Phil Taylor, WR Brian Quick and C Demetrius Rhaney while placing OG Tyler Catalina`on injured reserve. In addition to those moves, DL Stacy McGee has been moved to the active/PUP list while DB Joshua Holsey is being stashed on the active/NFI list.
Sep 1 - 7:56 PM

Redskins released WR Brian Quick.

Quick was most notably the top pick in the second round of the 2012 draft by the Jeff Fisher-led Rams. He was enjoying a strong 2014 before tearing his shoulder apart. Quick spent the last two years in D.C. and is now 29.
Sep 1 - 1:44 PM

Free agent RB Adrian Peterson will visit the Redskins on Monday.

Orleans Darkwa and Jamaal Charles worked out for Washington on Sunday. The Redskins are desperate for healthy bodies at running back following injuries to Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle). Peterson looked like he was on his last leg in 2017, averaging a pedestrian 3.39 yards per carry over 10 games for New Orleans and Arizona. Obviously Peterson is a big name and a likely Hall of Famer, though at this point in his career, it's doubtful the 33-year-old would be an upgrade on current starter Rob Kelley.
Aug 19 - 3:16 PM

Free agent RB Jamaal Charles will visit the Redskins on Sunday.

Former Giant Orleans Darkwa is also in town for a visit. Washington's backfield is running on fumes right now with Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle) all sidelined. Despite averaging a healthy 4.3 yards per carry for Denver last year, Charles has attracted minimal interest on the open market. The 31-year-old would give the Redskins a much-needed healthy body, though it's unlikely he'd become a fantasy factor in Washington.
Aug 19 - 10:20 AM

Chiefs signed CB Orlando Scandrick, formerly of the Redskins, to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Scandrick was let go by Washington last week. He fills a need for the Chiefs, who are looking thin in the secondary following the offseason departures of Marcus Peters (traded to the Rams) and Terrence Mitchell (signed with Cleveland). Steven Nelson's concussion Friday night likely created an even greater sense of urgency. In KC, Scandrick will be a candidate to back up Kendall Fuller at slot corner.
Aug 19 - 8:26 AM

Free agent RB Orleans Darkwa will work out for the Redskins on Sunday.

The Redskins are desperate for running backs with Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall going down last week. Coming off a career 2017, there hasn't been much interest in Darkwa due to May leg surgery but he's fully healthy. He would give Washington a veteran to push Rob Kelley.
Aug 18 - 8:24 PM

Coach Jay Gruden said Samaje Perine is "OK" after twisting his ankle Thursday.

"Looks like it was OK. Twisted ankle for Samaje," Gruden said. Perine was seen in a walking boot after the game, but the Skins seem to be downplaying the injury at this time. RB Byron Marshall exited the game with a lower leg injury later on as well, leaving Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson, Kapri Bibbs, and Martez Carter as the club's only healthy backs. With rookie Derrius Guice already out for the year, Kelley is slowly entering the conversation as a viable late-round flier.
Aug 17 - 8:34 AM

NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay reports the Redskins "reached out" to free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Rodgers-Cromartie visited the Seahawks over the weekend, but he left without a contract. Washington says they cut Orlando Scandrick because they were happy with their young corners, but they still might want some veteran insurance.
Aug 14 - 12:00 PM

Redskins released CB Orlando Scandrick.

The former Cowboy received a $1 million signing bonus when he joined Washington in March, so the Redskins are eating a significant investment to let him go. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports Washington is impressed with their younger corners, but it is possible the oft-injured Scandrick just is not healthy. He should get a look from several teams in the next week.
Aug 14 - 8:50 AM

Redskins DT Da'Ron Payne returned to practice Saturday.

Payne was sidelined the past two weeks with an ankle injury. Although he'll practice leading up to Washington's next contest versus the Jets Thursday, HC Jay Gruden is unsure if Payne will play. He's expected to start at nose tackle in Week 1.
Aug 11 - 1:56 PM

Redskins HC Jay Gruden said WR Josh Doctson will be "most dangerous" in the red zone this upcoming season.

Gruden continued that Doctson didn't receive red zone opportunities in the past for a variety of reasons. It's an odd statement since Doctson led Washington with 15 red zone targets and six receiving touchdowns just last year. With more scoring opportunities potentially on the horizon, Doctson will certainly need to improve on his 44.9% catch rate in 2017 to have significant fantasy value.
Jul 28 - 9:56 AM

Redskins DT Da'Ron Payne will miss two to three weeks after injuring his ankle during practice Friday.

"He's in great shape so it's not a big deal," head coach Jay Gruden said. "He's already very smart and knows the defense." Payne was the first 2018 first-rounder to sign his rookie deal and is expected to start at nose tackle once he returns from injury.
Jul 28 - 9:36 AM

Redskins waived RB Keith Marshall.

A hyped 2016 seventh-round pick out of Georgia, Marshall could never stay on the field in two camps with Washington. He tore the UCL in his elbow as a rookie and ruptured his patellar tendon last August 1.
Jul 25 - 8:20 PM

Redskins released OG Orlando Franklin.

A 16-game starter for the Chargers in 2016, Franklin made just one 2017 appearance. He signed a reserve/future deal in January. 2018 will be Franklin's age-31 campaign.
May 3 - 4:23 PM

Redskins waived/released S James Sample, DL Montori Hughes, LB Cassanova McKinzy, DT A.J. Francis, and TE Chris Bazile.

These are routine post-draft cuts to make room for Washington's draft class and undrafted free agent signings. DT Terrell McClain was already released.
