Redskins released OG Orlando Franklin.

A 16-game starter for the Chargers in 2016, Franklin made just one 2017 appearance. He signed a reserve/future deal in January. 2018 will be Franklin's age-31 campaign.
May 3 - 4:23 PM

Redskins waived/released S James Sample, DL Montori Hughes, LB Cassanova McKinzy, DT A.J. Francis, and TE Chris Bazile.

These are routine post-draft cuts to make room for Washington's draft class and undrafted free agent signings. DT Terrell McClain was already released.
Apr 30 - 4:34 PM

Redskins released DL Terrell McClain.

McClain signed a "four-year, $21 million" contract last year which reportedly included guaranteed money this season, but ESPN's John Keim reports McClain's $3.25 million base salary was not guaranteed. Either way, McClain is looking for work following a lackluster one-year stop in Washington. DL A.J. Francis was also cut.

According to Mike Jones of USA Today, free agent Dez Bryant is not on the Redskins' "radar."

After being released by Dallas on Friday, Bryant said, "I'll see you guys twice this year," implying his desire to sign with another team in the NFC East. Apparently that team won't be the Redskins, who are planning to stand pat with Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder and Paul Richardson as their top receivers. Bryant isn't the player he once was, falling short of 1,000 yards in three straight seasons while also leading the league in drops in 2017. Despite this, the 29-year-old is still a proven touchdown scorer and shouldn't struggle for interest on the open market.
Apr 13 - 2:54 PM

Free agent DE Benson Mayowa is visiting the Cardinals on Thursday.

Mayowa previously visited with the Redskins, Seahawks, Colts, and Jets. He led Dallas with six sacks in 2016 but only recorded one last season. The Cardinals have also hosted Connor Barwin among available edge rushers.
Apr 12 - 7:56 PM

Redskins waived QB Stephen Morris.

Morris signed a reserve/future deal in January, but he was surplus to requirements after Washington traded for Kevin Hogan. Morris could get some looks in the waiver process from teams looking for a camp arm.
Apr 9 - 9:53 AM

Titans signed ILB Will Compton, formerly of the Redskins.

The Titans lost stud ILB Avery Williams to the Jets in free agency. Wesley Woodyard is still in the building, but second-year ILB Jayon Brown and veteran Compton figure to compete for the other starting job next to Woodyard. Compton is recovering from a Lisfranc injury suffered in November.
Apr 2 - 6:20 PM

Redskins waived RB LeShun Daniels.

With the Redskins in an injury crunch last season, Daniels was active four times down the stretch, receiving three carries. He's a second-year UDFA out of Iowa. Daniels is purely a two-down back.

Broncos acquired S Su'a Cravens and 2018 fourth- and fifth-round picks from the Redskins in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round pick and two fifth-rounders.

There were five draft picks involved in this deal, but the Broncos essentially only gave up a fifth-rounder for Cravens, who walked away from the Redskins ahead of last season, citing health and personal reasons. Cravens figures to be a third safety and linebacker playing heavy sub-package snaps.

Redskins VP Doug Williams said the team is moving on from free agent OLB Junior Galette.

That appeared to be the case after Washington withdrew their contract offer last week, but Williams confirmed it in an interview on Sunday. Playing for the first time since 2014 because of back-to-back torn Achilles, Galette only recorded three sacks last season, but he did create consistent pressure. He would be a good get for a pass-rush needy team.
Mar 26 - 9:39 AM

The Redskins have withdrawn their offer to free agent OLB Junior Galette.

Washington reportedly had a change of heart once other teams showed interest. It's unsurprising the Browns and Rams are among those interested in Galette since he has ties to Browns personnel consultant Scot McCloughan, who brought Galette to Washington, and Rams LB coach Joe Barry, who was Galette's defensive coordinator with the Redskins.
Mar 23 - 9:21 AM

Jets agreed to terms with WR Terrelle Pryor, formerly of the Redskins.

A mammoth bust — 20 catches for 240 yards — with the Redskins last season, Pryor will start over with a Jets receiver corps low on depth and dealing with off-field issues with No. 1 Robby Anderson. Pryor is also joining a team with quarterback question marks, as a highly-drafted rookie will join injury-prone Josh McCown and fifth-year mystery man Teddy Bridgewater. Going on 29, Pryor still offers theoretical upside, but expectations should be low after last year's debacle.
Mar 22 - 10:09 PM

Free agent OLB Pernell McPhee is visiting the Falcons on Wednesday.

McPhee has an offer in hand from the Redskins, according to Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz, but it must not be enough to keep McPhee from making other visits. In Atlanta, McPhee could replace Adrian Clayborn, who left as a free agent and signed with the Patriots. McPhee turns 30 later this year.
Mar 21 - 10:26 AM

Colts signed Ryan Grant, formerly of the Redskins, to a one-year, $5 million contract.

The news comes from ex-Packers receiver James Jones, who is breaking news faster than Adam Schefter these days. The deal is considerably less than Grant would have made in Baltimore, but he will get a shot to hit free agency again next spring. Grant is a solid receiver who will help fill out the Colts' paper-thin receiving corps, but they still could use more help. As it stands, T.Y. Hilton, Chester Rogers, and Grant top the depth chart.
Mar 20 - 11:29 AM

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said there is a "good possibility" the team selects a running back early in the draft.

Washington just selected Samaje Perine in the fourth round of last year's draft, but they are apparently looking for a better partner for Chris Thompson. The 13th overall pick is too late to nab Saquon Barkley and probably too early to select any of the other running backs, but the Redskins could look to grab someone in the second round. USC's Ronald Jones and the Georgia duo of Sony Michel and Nick Chubb could be options then.
Mar 20 - 10:39 AM

Free agent NT Sylvester Williams is visiting the Redskins on Tuesday.

Williams was released by the Titans over the weekend, but that had more to do with his salary than level of play. In desperate need of a real nose tackle, Williams would be a good get for Washington.
Mar 20 - 9:30 AM

Free agent LB Pernell McPhee is visiting the Redskins on Monday.

McPhee joins a long list of defensive players the Redskins have played host to during free agency. This is the first time the former Bear has been linked to any team since being released in February. He appeared in just 36 games the last three seasons with Chicago, recording 14 sacks. He will be 29 when the season begins and is likely looking at a low base contract if someone gives him a second chance as an outside pass rusher.
Mar 18 - 9:58 PM

The Redskins will host free agent DT Johnathan Hankins on Sunday.

They're also visiting with CB Orlando Scandrick. Hankins had a strong 2017 with the Colts and is the top interior lineman available behind Ndamukong Suh. He would be a huge get for a Washington defense that ranked last in the league in stopping the run.
Mar 17 - 7:30 PM

Free agent CB Orlando Scandrick will visit with the Redskins on Sunday.

Scandrick has spent his entire nine-year career in the NFC East. Washington needs corners after moving on from Bashaud Breeland and makes sense as a landing spot. They've also been linked to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
Mar 17 - 7:24 PM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Redskins are "in negotiations" with free agent OLB Junior Galette.

Making his first regular-season appearance since 2014, Galette played all 16 games last season, recording three sacks. Now 30 (later this month), Galette hasn't had much of a market and appears likely to land back in D.C.
