Chiefs acquired CB Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third-round pick from the Redskins in exchange for QB Alex Smith.

A 2016 third-rounder, Fuller struggled as a rookie off a 2015 knee injury. But this past season, as the Redskins' No. 1 slot corner, Fuller appeared in all 16 games and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 5 cover corner out of 121 qualifiers. The Chiefs really struggled on the back end of the defense in 2017, so Fuller will be a welcomed addition and should slide right into slot duties in K.C.

CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler expects the Redskins to be interested in impending free agent NT Bennie Logan.

The Redskins chased Logan last offseason as a free agent, but he chose a one-year, $8 million deal in Kansas City and bet on himself. Logan's play dipped a bit with the Chiefs getting smeared in run defense, but Logan just turned 28. Washington hasn't had a true nose tackle the past couple years.

Chargers claimed K Nick Rose off waivers from the Redskins and waived K Travis Coons.

The Chargers have used seemingly countless kickers this season, several of whom have cost them games. Rose went 10-of-11 on field goal tries in Washington, although he missed two extra points. He will kick Sunday against the Jets.

ESPN's Field Yates considers the Redskins a possible landing spot for Andre Ellington.

The Redskins have a screen-heavy offense that runs through the short pass game and are in need of a Chris Thompson replacement. Ellington could complement Samaje Perine and add depth with Byron Marshall the only other healthy back. Washington is a scheme fit for Ellington, but he could draw interest from multiple teams.

Free agent RB Kapri Bibbs worked out for the Redskins recently.

Ex-Jaguar Denard Robinson was also brought in for a visit. The Redskins are looking to add backfield depth with Rob Kelley (ankle, MCL) facing a multi-week absence. Bibbs spent the summer with San Francisco but was let go at the end of training camp. He recorded 204 yards from scrimmage with one touchdown on 31 touches for the Broncos last season.

Free agent DL Tyson Jackson is working out for the Redskins on Wednesday.

First-rounder Jonathan Allen was recently sent to I.R., and fellow DL Matt Ioannidis has a broken hand. The Redskins could use some depth. Now 31, Jackson was the No. 3 overall pick of the Chiefs back in 2009.

Vikings claimed RB Mack Brown off waivers from the Redskins.

An annual preseason star in Washington, Brown will add depth to the Vikings' backfield behind all-purpose maven Jerick McKinnon and interior runner Latavius Murray, who has struggled in all but one game this season.

Free agent CB Nolan Carroll is working out for the Redskins on Monday.

It's Carroll's first-known workout after he was released by the Cowboys last week. Carroll would provide depth for the Redskins as Josh Norman makes his way back from a ribs injury.

Free agent RB Travaris Cadet worked out for the Redskins.

Washington has a good passing-down back in Chris Thompson who they just signed to an extension. Unless he is dealing with an undisclosed injury, Washington is likely just updating their emergency list.

Eagles signed QB Nate Sudfeld to their practice squad.

This doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, though it's a sly tactical move on the Eagles' part with a game coming up against the division rival Redskins in Week 1. Sudfeld, of course, was among the Redskins' final cuts on Saturday. The sixth-round rookie completed 33-of-56 passes for 360 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions during the preseason.

Colts claimed RB Matt Jones off waivers from the Redskins.

A former third-round pick, Jones quickly washed out in Washington due to ball-security issues. Plenty of backs in the past have corrected those problems, and Jones averaged a respectable 4.6 YPC on 99 carries last season before getting sent to Siberia by coach Jay Gruden. He'll get a fresh start in Indy where the Colts are looking for their successor to Frank Gore. Jones is a hulking 6'2/239 at 24 years old. He has two years left on his rookie deal.

Redskins waived/released OG Arie Kouandjio, DL Brandon Banks, TE E.J. Bibbs, C Lucas Crowley, WR Robert Davis, WR Maurice Harris, WR Matt Hazel, RB Kenny Hilliard, CB Tevin Homer, WR Levern Jacobs, OT John Kling, CB Jeremiah McKinnon, OL Kendall Pace, OT Vinston Painter, WR Zach Pascal C Ronald Patrick, DL Ondre Pipkins, LB Pete Robertson, WR Jamari Staples, LB Ron Thompson Jr. LB Lynden Trail, LB Zach Vigil and OL Isaiah Williams.

The No. 112 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Kouandjio ended up making only eight regular season appearances. He was ineffective in two 2016 starts. 2017 is Kouandjio's age-25 campaign.

Redskins waived WR Robert Davis.

The Redskins are only keeping five wide receivers, though Davis would seem to be an obvious candidate for the practice squad. The sixth-round rookie hauled in 6-of-12 targets for 71 yards during the preseason.

Redskins waived RB Matt Jones.

This has been coming for months, but Washington held onto the 2015 third-round pick in hopes of finding a trade partner. The offers never developed, and Jones will head to the waiver wire, where it would not be surprising in the least if he is claimed. Washington will move forward with Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine on early downs. Chris Thompson will keep dominating passing-down work.

Redskins waived QB Nate Sudfeld.

Sudfeld was a sixth-rounder out of Indiana last year and spent his rookie season on the 53-man roster as the No. 3 quarterback. The Redskins will likely try to sneak him to the practice squad. Sudfeld has good size at 6'6/227 and arm strength, but that's about all he has going for him.

Redskins released S Will Blackmon.

Blackmon earned PFF's No. 26 grade out of 91 qualifiers at safety last year. The 32-year-old has experience at both safety and cornerback and should latch on with another team before long.

Steelers acquired CB Dashaun Phillips from the Redskins in exchange for C Lucas Crowley.

This is likely a deal where neither player will make the final 53. A former undrafted free agent, Phillips was a disaster at slot corner in D.C. last season.

Redskins waived CB Tharold Simon.

A once-heralded fifth-round pick by Seattle, Simon has been unable to hold down an NFL roster spot. The Skins had him on a minimum-salary futures deal.

Ex-Redskins GM Scot McCloughan, speaking for the first time since his firing, said it "just wasn't meant to be" in Washington.

"I wish I could have been here longer to see it come to fruition," McCloughan said. "But still, I'm gonna pull for them. I don't have any grudge. Again, it's a marriage that didn't work. It's too bad what happened here, but it was mutual. And there's a lot of good people in this organization, from the ownership down throughout the whole building. It just didn't work out." Major props to McCloughan for taking the high road after multiple people inside the organization took shots at him as he was kicked out the door. McCloughan has re-opened his scouting service and advised teams during the draft. He should resurface in the NFL in the near future.

KSTP's Darren Wolfson reports the Vikings are interested in free agent Michael Floyd.

Per Wolfon, the Vikings are "highly, highly interested." He also reports the Redskins are considering the ex-Cardinal. It's the first we've heard of Floyd in months. He drew zero initial interest in free agency, and has yet to make a visit. Floyd looked lost on the field for Arizona last season, and was then popped for "extreme" DUI, leading to his release. He did zero with the Patriots after being claimed off waivers. The Vikings' receiver depth chart is shaky behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.
