Jaguars suspended DE Dante Fowler for one week of preseason activities for "fighting and violation of team rules."

Teammate Jalen Ramsey was simultaneously suspended for "violating team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars’ football player." Ramsey took to Twitter to defend Fowler and tweet his disdain towards the local media Sunday morning. Both will miss the next week of camp and Saturday's contest against the Vikings.

The Jaguars suspended CB Jalen Ramsey for one week of preseason activities for "violating team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars’ football player."

Ramsey tweeted his disdain for the local media and how he believes they unfairly treated teammate Dante Fowler, stating "if y’all want war, we got sum for y’all" and "#LameAssReporters." It's clearly just a slap on the wrist from the club in hopes Ramsey sticks to football moving forward. He'll miss the next week of camp, including Saturday's contest versus the Vikings.
Aug 12 - 6:53 PM

Jaguars activated DE Dante Fowler from the active/PUP list.

Fowler will begin practicing immediately. He'll still be out for Jacksonville's opening-week game against the Giants for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Fowler will need as much playing time as possible in order to prove he's recovered from an undisclosed upper-body injury that kept him out of Jacksonville's offseason program. The club declined his fifth-year option back in May.

Florida Football Insiders believes the Jaguars may have interest in retired RB DeMarco Murray.

Murray had interest from multiple teams as a backup this offseason. There's some doubt he's actually retiring, but the Jaguars don't have use for him with T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant behind workhorse Leonard Fournette. It's possible Murray unretires if a preseason injury arises.
Jul 14 - 12:06 PM

Free agent WR DeAndre Smelter will participate in Jaguars minicamp on a tryout basis.

Smelter was a 2015 fourth-round pick by then-49ers GM Trent Baalke. The 6'2/227 ex-Georgia Tech wideout has mouthwatering traits but has never been able to stay healthy. He spent four months with the Colts earlier this offseason.
Jun 11 - 9:07 PM

Free agent RB Terrance West is visiting the Jaguars on Wednesday.

West is starting to make the rounds now that the draft has come and gone; he's visited the Eagles and Colts in the past week and now heads to Jacksonville. The Jaguars did nothing at running back this offseason after releasing Chris Ivory. They appear set with Leonard Fournette, Corey Grant, and T.J. Yeldon. It would appear difficult for West to crack that rotation on game days.
May 16 - 12:01 PM

Jaguars released P Brad Nortman.

Nortman has been the punter in Jacksonville for two seasons, but they were always expected to move on after drafting Logan Cooke in the seventh round. Nortman should be able to find work before camp.
Apr 30 - 11:10 AM

Ex-Jaguars and Patriots RB Tyler Gaffney has given up football to try for a major-league baseball career.

Gaffney had some promising preseasons in the NFL, but he couldn't stay healthy. At age 26, he's trying his hand as an outfielder in the Pittsburgh Pirates' organization. "My dream has been the big leagues my whole life," Gaffney said. "I think I've been tasting that every time I was hurt. You have time to think about things like that. So now I'm here, putting in my work." A multi-sport star at Stanford, Gaffney doubled as a college baseball and football player and was drafted in the 24th round by the Pirates in 2012.

Jaguars GM David Caldwell said the team has made "no decision" on picking up DE Dante Fowler's 2019 option.

Fowler's option is worth $14.2 million in 2019, nearly four times the amount of his base salary this upcoming season. He recorded eight sacks on 464 snaps last season but has battled numerous off-field issues including multiple arrests. He's facing potential league discipline for his most recent charges stemming from his July 2017 arrest.

Free agent WR Brice Butler has visits lined up with the Bears, Seahawks, Jaguars, and Cardinals over the next two weeks.

Butler's market has been nonexistent to this point despite averaging 21.1 yards per catch last season. The problem was he caught just 15 balls in a minuscule role with the Cowboys, who for some reason refused to play him significant snaps. Butler is long on talent. We'd love to see him in a more prominent offensive role with an aggressive coach and quarterback.
Mar 26 - 6:45 PM

Jaguars released TE Marcedes Lewis.

It is a surprise both because he had been with the team for 12 seasons and they picked up his option in February. Lewis became expendable, however, after Jacksonville signed both Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul in free agency. The move saves the Jaguars $3.5 million against the cap.
Mar 20 - 12:50 PM

Jaguars released WR Allen Hurns.

The move saves $7 million against the cap. The writing was on the wall for Hurns after the Jaguars gave Donte Moncrief a one-year, $9.6 million contract. Hurns was probably overpaid in Jacksonville, but he is a solid receiver who should have no trouble finding a new home. The Jaguars will move forward with Marqise Lee, Moncrief, Dede Westbrook, and Keelan Cole atop the depth chart.
Mar 20 - 10:16 AM

Free agent TE Luke Willson will visit the Jaguars on Friday.

He met with Carolina earlier this week. The Jaguars are also hosting ex-Jet Austin Seferian-Jenkins on Thursday. Wilson has never topped 400 receiving yards in a season and would likely serve as a blocking tight end in Jacksonville.
Mar 15 - 3:12 PM

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports free agent Austin Seferian-Jenkins is visiting the Jaguars on Thursday.

ASJ visited the Seahawks on Wednesday, but he left without a deal. Eric Ebron's somewhat surprising entrance into the tight end market hurts Seferian-Jenkins' stock somewhat, but he is still one of the best options available. Jacksonville did already add Niles Paul, but they could use more help at the position.
Mar 15 - 10:28 AM

Giants signed OG Patrick Omameh, formerly of the Jaguars.

Omameh struggled mightily as the Jaguars' starting left guard last season, and the Jags replaced him immediately in free agency with Andrew Norwell. So the Giants are picking up the Jaguars' scraps.
Mar 14 - 9:10 PM

Free agent Austin Seferian-Jenkins is visiting the Seahawks.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the Jaguars will also host ASJ on a visit. Seferian-Jenkins was born and raised in Washington and played his college ball for the Huskies. After losing Jimmy Graham to the Packers and Luke Willson also a free agent, tight end is a huge need for the Seahawks. The Falcons and Saints have also been linked to Seferian-Jenkins this week.
Mar 14 - 1:02 PM

Texans signed CB Aaron Colvin, formerly of the Jaguars, to a four-year contract.

Colvin played an important role as Jacksonville's slot corner last year, earning a positive grade from ProFootballFocus over 700 defensive snaps. It's a needed addition for the Texans, who were manhandled in the secondary last year. It's unclear if this ends Houston's pursuit of Malcolm Butler, who is also drawing interest from the Matt Patricia-coached Lions.
Mar 13 - 3:21 PM

Bears signed WR Allen Robinson, formerly of the Jaguars, to a three-year, $42 million contract.

The deal reportedly includes $25 million in guarantees. With one of the weakest receiver corps in the league, the Bears were always expected to make a splash in free agency, and Robinson, who is still just 24 and expected to be fully healthy for the offseason, is arguably the cream of the crop. Robinson suffered a torn ACL in 2017 but is only two seasons removed from a "down" year in which he led the Jaguars across the board with a 73-883-6 line. He steps into immediate opportunity with the Bears, who have 225 targets and nearly 2,000 air yards available from last season's production and a quality offensive mind running the show in new coach Matt Nagy.
Mar 13 - 2:28 AM

First Coast News reports the Jaguars are interested in free agent Sammy Watkins.

It's extremely interesting, as it's been presumed one of the reasons the Jags were comfortable letting Allen Robinson hit the open market was because of their young prospects at receiver. They do reportedly remain open to re-signing Robinson. It's ultimately difficult to see Watkins ending up in teal.
Mar 12 - 4:12 PM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Jaguars have informed impending free agent Allen Robinson they will not tag him.

This has been the expectation for the last several days, but now the Jaguars have made it official. Even coming off an ACL tear, it is surprising Jacksonville is letting a player of Robinson's caliber hit the open market. Robinson has already been linked with the Redskins, and the Bears are likely to make a strong run at him as well.
