Chelsea maintained their unbeaten start to the season at Stamford Bridge but will be left frustrated after they spurned a number of chances to beat Everton.

The first half was a scrappy affair with both sides slow to create genuine scoring chances. The first of the half came just 5 minutes before the interval, when Marcos Alonso had a volley well saved by Jordan Pickford. Chelsea in truth struggled to create as Willian and Hazard stayed very wide, leaving Morata isolated in the centre of the attack. Pickford was a lot busier in the second half, saving well from Morata and Hazard whilst a few other chances were put off target by The Blues. There was a sense of inevitability about Chelsea, but they couldn't break the deadlock as Morata had one goal ruled out for offside and Marcos Alonso hit the post. Maurizio Sarri has some thinking to do about playing compact defences like the Toffees today.

Alvaro Morata came in from the cold with a brace that helped power Chelsea to a 3-1 victory at Selhurst Park Sunday.

It hasn't been the smoothest of rides for the former Real Madrid man since joining Chelsea but he certainly came good today with two goals in a 3-1 win. The goals were his 4th and 5th of the Premier League campaign and the brace puts him at three in his last two league matches and four since the start of October. Maybe he's starting to figure it out.

Olivier Giroud looks set to miss another game as the Chelsea attacker struggles to overcome an unspecified leg injury.

Speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup tie against Derby County on Wednesday, assistant manager Gianfranco Zola confirmed that Giroud had a "little fatigue problem" in one of his legs. The Frenchman missed the fourth-round tie and Maurizio Sarri doesn’t expect a return this weekend either. "No, I think he will be out in this match, but the injury is not so serious," he said. "I think he will be able to play in the next match in Belarus [against BATE Borisov on Thursday night]." However, there was better news regarding Eden Hazard who will return to the matchday squad after taking part in training on Thursday. "He may not be ready for 90 minutes yet. It was the first part of training for a few weeks [but] he might be able to play for 40-45 minutes."

Cesc Fabregas was the hero as a much-changed Chelsea side progressed to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 3-2 win over Derby County on Wednesday.

Maurizio Sarri made eight changes from the side which beat Burnley at the weekend, retaining just N'Golo Kante, Willian and Alvaro Morata. All five goals came in an action-packed first half. Chelsea led twice through own goals from Derby defenders Fikayo Tomori and Richard Keogh, but Derby came from behind on both occasions. Four minutes before the break, Fabregas pounced on a loose ball inside the box to fire home for what proved to be the match-winner. Although the chances were plentiful in the second half, goalkeepers Willy Caballero and Scott Carson could not be beaten. Derby substitute David Nugent hit the inside of the post with a minute remaining, but the ball rebounded safely into Willy Caballero's hands.

Chelsea's assistant first team coach Gianfranco Zola has revealed that Eden Hazard could be fit for the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Premier League's joint top scorer missed out on the Europa League victory at Stamford Bridge over BATE Borisov and the 4-0 win over Burnley last weekend due to an ongoing back injury. Chelsea host Derby County in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, and while the midweek outing may come too soon for Belgian to return, Zola says Hazard looks likely to be fit for the weekend. "He's certainly much better," Zola said. "I don't think he's going to be involved in the game tomorrow but he is looking quite good for the weekend." Zola also revealed that Pedro is dealing with a stomach issue, meaning Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be handed a start against Frank Lampard's Derby.

Ross Barkley put on another impressive display, playing a part in three of Chelsea's goals as they put Burnley away handily, 0-4.

With Eden Hazard left out of the squad, someone needed to energize the Chelsea attack and Barkley was equal to the task. On 22 minutes, shortly after Willian had hit the post, Barkley held the ball up just outside the box before threading a pass to Alvaro Morata who finished it. Barkley then doubled the lead himself, taking an N'Golo Kante pass and dribbling to the top of the box before unleashing a magnificent blast. Five minutes later, Barkley notched his second assist of the day, laying the ball off for Willian and the latter cut into the same area Barkley had scored from and found the net himself. Ruben Loftus-Cheek added another late, fresh off his midweek hat trick. Making two starts in Chelsea's last three league games, Barkley has two goals and three assists, not to mention another goal in a 20-minute cameo sandwiched in between. A career that had stalled for some time seems to be back on track.

Chelsea has announced that Marcos Alonso has signed a new long-term contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2023.

Alonso was integral to Chelsea's success under former manager Antonio Conte playing at left wing-back in 3-4-3 and has taken well to his new role as a left-back in a back four under Maurizio Sarri this season. The 27-year-old, who received his first senior Spain call-up in March, has scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in 73 league appearances since arriving from Fiorentina in a £24 million deal in August 2016. After signing his new contract, Alonso said: "I am so happy to stay here longer and to keep playing for one of the best teams in the world. It’s been a very good two seasons, and I am looking forward to more."

Eden Hazard is an early doubt for the Premier League clash with Burnley next weekend due to injury.

The Belgium star completed 90 minutes against Manchester United but was very quiet given his recent rich vein of form. Although there was no mention of a problem post-match, news on Sunday revealed that Hazard had suffered a lower back issue which is almost certain to keep him out the Europa League tie versus BATE Borisov. Chelsea then travel to Turf Moor, and although the injury is not thought to be serious, there are no guarantees that Hazard will recover in time to face the Clarets. Some reports suggest that the injury was caused by United’s roughhouse tactics throughout Saturdays game, but television cameras do show Hazard stretching and rubbing his back during the pre-match warm-up which could explain his lukewarm performance. Should he fail a fitness test, then Maurizio Sarri will look to Pedro, or Ross Barkley, if he prefers to keep Kovacic in the starting XI.

In a match where both sides had the lead, a goal by Ross Barkley in the final moments got Chelsea to share the points with Manchester Unites in a 2-2 final at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea took the lead in the first half through Antonio Rudiger, who did well to escape his marker on a corner kick from Willian and steered a strong header home on 21 minutes. The first half was otherwise uneventful, but this was a slow burn payoff as things heated up in the second half. Manchester United found some inspiration and were able to turn the game around, scoring twice and entered stoppage time with the lead. In the sixth and final added minute, substitute Ross Barkley would play the hero as he stuck home a ball that originally hit the post before Rudiger got a touch, giving the defender an assist along with his goal. Tempers flared between the benches as Chelsea's celebration sent Jose Mourinho into a rage. The Blues have a trip to Burnley up next.

Eden Hazard has revealed he has no intention of leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid in January.

The 27-year-old reiterated earlier this week he was torn between about penning a new deal at Stamford Bridge or pursuing his childhood dream move to Real Madrid. Speaking at a press conference with Belgium on Thursday, though, Hazard ruled out a mid-season move to the European champions. When asked whether would consider leaving Chelsea in January, he said: "No." Hazard, whose Chelsea contract runs until June 2020, is the Premier League's top-scorer with seven goals in eight appearances so far this season.

Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata provided the goals as Chelsea secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.

Maurizio Sarri made one change to the side that drew with Liverpool last weekend, bringing in Ross Barkley for Mateo Kovacic in midfield. The first half saw Chelsea dominated 86% of possession in the opening 15 minutes and eventually take the lead on the half-hour mark through Hazard, who finished off a pass from Barkley for his league-leading seventh PL goal of the season. Barkley followed up his first league assist since April 2017 by scoring his league goal since May 2017 early in the second half by converting Olivier Giroud's fine volleyed cross from close range. Southampton went close from long-range efforts by Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings, but Kepa was up for the task on occasions. Substitute Alvaro Morata scored the third in stoppage time, chipping Alex McCarthy after being sent through by the in-form Hazard. The Blues have now won six of their eight league matches, and nine of their 11 in all competitions.

Chelsea managed to maintain its unbeaten run but will look back in disappointment on a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

The Blues opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Eden Hazard, while on the run in behind the Liverpool defense, pinpointed an inch-perfect shot just out of reach of Alisson for the 1-0 lead. The goal makes him the Premier League's leading goalscorer on six. But the Blues couldn't hold on to the lead as former Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge came off the bench to send home a goal-of-the-year quality effort from distance in the 89th minute. Chelsea could be left to rue the day, especially after Marcos Alonso missed an open header off a corner to end the match, dropping the club into third place.

Chelsea lost their perfect start to the season following a hard-fought draw at London-rivals West Ham.

Preparation for the Blues wasn’t ideal following their late return from Greece due to a cancelled flight. Chelsea had opened their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 win over PAOK on Thursday, but the victory came at a cost as Pedro was helped off deep into time added on due to a shoulder injury. "For us, he is very important because he is the best player we have with movement without the ball. We are trying to have him at the end of the week, but I don't know at the moment," Sarri revealed on Sunday. However, the Chelsea boss was a little more optimistic about Antonio Rudiger who limped off with a muscular problem at the Olympic Stadium. "I want to speak with the doctor, but I think nothing serious. Maybe three or four days, no more." Gary Cahill is now on standby after being handed his first minutes of the season.

Rudinger was substituted off for Gary Cahill in the 68th minute in Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with West Ham.

While the severity of Rudinger’s suspected groin injury is unknown at this time, it could offer an entryway for Gary Cahill to earn his way back into the Chelsea side. While the center back expressed that if he doesn’t play he would like to leave the club, if Chelsea rolls with him in the lineup, Cahill could keep his place.

Maurizio Sarri will leave a decision on Pedro’s involvement until the last-minute after he was helped off on Thursday night following an awkward fall deep into time added-on.

Chelsea will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season against London-rivals West Ham at the Olympic Stadium, but they may have to do it without the Spanish winger despite an encouraging post-match update from the Blues boss. "The problem is [his] shoulder, but I don't know exactly the situation," he said following the 1-0 win over POAK. "The doctor told me that probably it's not a very serious injury." Mateo Kovacic should be available despite limping off with a dead leg in the win over Cardiff City while Cesc Fabregas [knee] and Ruben Loftus-Cheek [shin] were included in the Europa League matchday squad. Davide Zappacosta is over his recent bout of illness and completed 90 minutes in Greece, but team-mate Emerson, who is suffering from a sore throat is considered a doubt.
