Willian was excellent and scored twice as Chelsea cruised into the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 4-0 win over Hull City at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte made six changes from the 3-0 win over West Brom, as cup regulars Caballero, Ampadu, Drinkwater and Willian came in alongside Cahill and debutante Emerson Palmieri. Willian was lively throughout and curled Chelsea ahead after just two minutes. Pedro doubled the lead with a cool finish in the 27th minute, while Willian got his second with a blast from 25 yards after a clean one-two exchange with Giroud. Giroud capped the scoring with his first goal since arriving from Arsenal just before the break, finishing off an Emerson cross. Chelsea did concede a penalty early in the second-half, but Caballero rose to the challenge and denied David Meyler. The Blues will now turn their attention to next Tuesday's UCL clash with Barcelona.

Chelsea will be without David Luiz for Friday's FA Cup fifth round tie against Hull City.

The Brazilian center-back hasn't featured since playing 90 minutes in the 4-1 defeat at Watford on February 5th. Considering Luiz has fallen out of favor with manager Antonio Conte, his absence isn't a major concern with Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta all fully fit. Conte, however, will likely rotate some of his starting XI ahead of next Tuesday's Champions League clash with Barcelona. January signing Emerson Palmieri could make his debut, while youngsters Ethan Ampadu, Trevoh Chalobah and Dujon Sterling are expected to be in the matchday squad.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte confirmed Tiemoue Bakayoko will miss Friday's FA Cup match against Hull City.

Bakayoko, who missed the 3-0 win over West Brom through suspension, picked up a knock in training this week and won't be available for Friday's FA Cup fifth round tie. Conte is expected to rotate his squad for visit of Hull City ahead of crucial week in which Chelsea will play their Champions League first leg tie against Barcelona before clashing with Manchester United on Sunday. Danny Drinkwater will likely start in midfield with Ross Barkley still unavailable, while Ethan Ampadu or Kyle Scott could also come in if N'Golo Kante is rested.

Antonio Conte confirmed Marcos Alonso missed the 3-0 win over West Brom on Monday as a result of an ankle injury.

The Spaniard had been expected to return against West Brom after he missed the defeat at Watford with a hamstring injury. However, Alonso suffered a fresh injury blow in training on Saturday and was unable to recover in time for the visit of the Baggies. "Alonso on Saturday trainings he twisted his ankle," Conte revealed prior to the match. "He has this injury and for this reason today he's not playing." His absence saw Davide Zappacosta deputizing at left wing-back for the second consecutive match, while January signing Emerson Palmieri was named to the bench. Fortunately for Chelsea, Alonso will have seven days to recover before facing Barcelona in the first leg of their round of 16 tie of the Champions League next Tuesday.

Alvaro Morata returned the squad and recorded an assist off the bench in Monday's 3-0 win over West Brom.

Morata declared himself fit prior to the match but had to settle for a place on the substitute's bench, with Olivier Giroud making his first start since arriving in January. Morata replaced Giroud after 61 minutes and turned in a lively performance, notching his fifth assist of the season before forcing a diving save from West Brom goalkeeper Ben Forster. Having missed the last five matches with a back problem, the return of the Spain international is a major boost for Chelsea ahead of next week's Champions League clash with Barcelona. Speaking after the match, manager Antonio Conte said: "Morata missed one month with a pain in his back and I hope we’ve solved the situation."

Eden Hazard notched a brace as Chelsea bounced back from successive league defeats with a 3-0 victory over West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Olivier Giroud made his first start since arriving from Arsenal and Gary Cahill was dropped to the bench as manager Antonio Conte made four changes from the 4-1 defeat at Watford last week. Man of the match Hazard got things going for Chelsea after a slow start, linking with Giroud before sweeping the ball home on 25 minutes. After the restart West Brom failed to convert a handful of chances before Chelsea put the match to bed. Victor Moses finished cooly after controlling a deflected pass from Fabregas in the 65th minute, while Hazard sealed all three points by rifling a strike past Ben Foster eight minutes later. The victory puts Chelsea back in fourth place, one point above Tottenham and one point back of third-placed Liverpool.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that Alvaro Morata won't be available for Monday's match against West Brom.

Morata has missed the last four matches because of a persistent back problem and, as in the previous updates, the Chelsea boss was unable to give a specific timetable for when he expects the Spain international to be back. Olivier Giroud could make his first start for Chelsea against the Baggies and should see more starts until Morata is able to return. Elsewhere, Pedro is expected to be fit after leaving the defeat to Watford with knock. Expect Eden Hazard, Giroud and either Pedro or Willian to make up the attack on Monday.

Tiemoune Bakayoko will miss the visit of West Brom on Monday following his dismissal after picking up a pair of yellow cards in the 4-1 defeat at Watford.

It is safe to say the £40m summer signing from Monaco had a match to forget at the weekend. Bakayoko completed just 66.7% of his passes, lost possession seven times and he was sent off after 30 minutes. The France international was issued the first card for a foul on Etienne Capoue in the 25th minute and five minutes later took down Richarlison. With Bakayoko suspended and Ross Barkley injured, Cesc Fabregas and Danny Drinkwater will be in contention to start in midfield against West Brom.

Ross Barkley is set for yet more time on the sidelines according to reports who suggest the Chelsea playmaker has suffered a setback in training.

The 24-year-old finally arrived at Stamford Bridge in January following a protracted summer move which was scuppered when Barkley suffered extensive hamstring damage while working his way back from a groin issue. After undergoing a second surgical procedure, Barkley spent the remainder of 2017 recovering before moving to SW6 in a £15 million deal. Making his debut in the Carabao Cup [at The Emirates], it was hoped that Barkley would use the next 4 months to try and force his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans ahead of the 2018 World Cup Finals in Russia. However, this latest injury will cast doubt over his ability to cope with the physical demands of tournament football. There is no indication at this point on how severe the problem is. Barkley becomes the fifth Chelsea player already this year to miss a match(es) due to a muscular strain.
Feb 5 - 5:05 AM

Antonio Conte has confirmed that Alvaro Morata will miss Monday's trip to Watford.

The Spanish striker has been sidelined for the last three matches with a back problem and won't recover in time for the clash at Vicarage Road. "Alvaro is still out," Conte said. ‘He has a problem in his back, he’s missing a lot of games and that’s not a good situation for him, for me or for the team. But I hope in the future we can solve this problem and I hope to have him back soon." Although new signing Olivier Giroud is available, the striker will likely start on the bench following his recent recovery from a long-term muscular injury. This means Eden Hazard could start as a false nine with Pedro and Ross Barkley - if Willian is ruled out - in support.
Feb 2 - 5:46 PM

Andreas Christensen looks set for a spell on the sidelines after limping off during the home defeat by Bournemouth.

The Chelsea defender was replaced due to an apparent muscle injury on the half hour mark which was later confirmed by manager Antonio Conte. "I think this is a hamstring problem for Christensen, but I don’t know the extent of his injury," he said post-match. "We have to wait one day, two days, three days to have a clinical examination." Chelsea travel to Vicarage Road on Monday, and despite the additional recovery days, Christensen will not feature if subsequent tests reveal muscle fibre damage. His absence is likely to hand Antonio Rüdiger a recall after David Luiz sustained a training ground injury during the build-up to the FA Cup fourth-round tie with Newcastle. "I don’t know, because he had a problem in his ankle," Conte replied to questions about the Brazilians progress. "Today he started the training session with the physical coach."

Ross Barkley's first start for Chelsea wasn't enough as the Blues lost 3-0 to Bournemouth.

Barkley played 54 minutes in his first start for Chelsea before being taken out for Cesc Fàbregas. It shouldn't be looked at as an overall bad day for Barkley as he was pulling the right strings but no one was there to finish the chances.
Jan 31 - 5:01 PM

For the third consecutive game, Christensen did not complete 90 minutes for Chelsea as he was taken off for Antonio Rüdiger in the 27th minute of Chelsea's 3-0 loss to Bournemouth.

Christensen pulled up lame after making a pass before coming off. The extent of the injury is unknown at this time but expect Rüdiger to start in Christensen’s absence.

Chelsea have announced the signing of Emerson Palmieri from Roma for a reported fee of €20 million.

Emerson has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2022. The 23-year-old began his career at Brazilian side Santos and has been at Roma since 2015, having joined on loan before his stay was made permanent the following season. Emerson is a left-sided defender who can play as a full-back or a wing-back and is expected operate as a backup for Marcos Alonso. The Brazilian-born uncapped Italy international has missed most of the season thus far as a result of a serious knee injury, so consider him a long-term signing to provide Chelsea with much needed depth moving forward.
Jan 31 - 2:21 PM

Michy Batshuayi has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season.

Batshuayi completes a series of transfers that sees him replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Dortmund, after the Gabon international signed for Arsenal, while Olivier Giroud has joined Chelsea from the Emirates. Batshuayi's move represents a chance for him to see legitimate first-team opportunities after a turbulent 18 months at Stamford Bridge since joining £33m from Marseille. The Belgian international found starts limited behind Diego Costa last season, and while he did score the title-clinching goal against West Brom last May, was unable to win over the trust of Antonio Conte this term. Batshuayi now make the temporary switch to the Bundesliga as he attempts to find his scoring form and secure a place in Belgium's World Cup squad.
