Larry Nance (ankle) will not play against the Wolves on Friday.
His ankle sprain last week didn't sound minor and now it'll cost him at least one week. With Nance out, that should mean Kevin Love will play more center, which could open up a few minutes for Sam Dekker, Ante Zizic and the guards. Oct 19 - 6:35 PM

Larry Nance (right ankle sprain) is listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. Minnesota.

Nance did not play on Wednesday but has reportedly been making progress. However, the Cavs have no reason to rush him back too soon. Tristan Thompson started at center in the opener and logged 27 minutes and grabbed 13 boards. We should have an update on Nance's status by this afternoon.

Larry Nance (sprained right ankle) will not suit up for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Raptors.

Nance's ankle is still black and blue, so it's not surprising that he'll be watching from the sidelines tonight. Tristan Thompson will get the start at center tonight, and he could be looking at quality minutes, as the Cavs will need his size to compete with Jonas Valanciunas in the post. The Cavs play again on Friday in Minnesota, and for now, we'll be considering Nance questionable for that one.
Oct 17 - 10:58 AM

Larry Nance (right ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's season opener against the Raptors.

Nance said he's been making solid progress, but his ankle is still black and blue, so there's a good chance we won't see him take the floor tomorrow night. Tristan Thompson will get the start at center, and he'll see an uptick in minutes if Nance can't give it a go. Check back for another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround.
Oct 16 - 5:18 PM

Larry Nance (ankle) has reportedly reached a four-year, $45 million extension with the Cavs.

The Cavs clearly view Nance as a core to their future, so he should be heavily involved in the rotation this season. He is dealing with a sprained ankle and may not be ready to go by Wednesday, but he shouldn't be out long and remains a sneaky, late-round target.
Oct 15 - 5:06 PM

Coach Tyronn Lue said that he's unsure if Larry Nance (sprained right ankle) will be available for the Cavaliers season opener.

Nance sprained his ankle after landing on a teammates foot in practice on Thursday. He is set to be part of a timeshare at center with Tristan Thompson, where he will play against the smaller centers. Nance should play at both big positions, making him a nice upside pick in the later rounds
Oct 14 - 9:38 AM

The Cavaliers announced that Larry Nance suffered a sprained right ankle in practice on Thursday and will be re-evaluated over the next several days.

It was previously announced that Nance was to sit out Friday's preseason finale, but now he's set to miss practice time leading up to the season opener. Nance has some upside in the later part of drafts as a handcuff to Kevin Love and part-time starter at center. Check back for updates as this situation progresses.
Oct 11 - 11:58 PM

Larry Nance will sit out the Cavs' preseason finale on Friday.

There's no injury reported and this appears to be a simple precaution from the Cavs, as Nance has already proven himself as the projected starting center. Cleveland will mix-and-match with Tristan Thompson depending upon matchups, but Nance should still push for top-75 roto value in an expanded role this year.
Oct 11 - 6:36 PM

Larry Nance got the start and scored 10 points (4-of-5 shooting) with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 19 minutes against the Celtics on Saturday night.

Tristan Thompson rested and Nance played well in his only half of action. Thompson and Nance will be fighting for time at the five with coach Tyronn Lue stating that Nance will get the starting nod against smaller teams. Nance has some nice upside late in drafts and is a good handcuff for anyone taking a chance on oft-injured Kevin Love.
Oct 6 - 10:01 PM

Collin Sexton, Rodney Hood, Sam Dekker, Cedi Osman and Larry Nance will start against the Celtics on Saturday.

In case you missed it, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, Kyle Korver, George Hill and David Nwaba aren't playing tonight. The Cavs will go with Nance at the five and give Dekker a chance in the first unit, as well. There are a lot of positions up for grabs in this rotation, but Nance locking down double-digit minutes at center would give him a nice upside in fantasy.
Oct 6 - 7:07 PM

Cavaliers coach Ty Lue said Larry Nance will start against smaller teams this season.

Lue also said Tristan Thompson would start at center when Cleveland plays against the league’s big bruisers such as Joel Embiid or Dwight Howard. "Last year kinda wore Larry down trying to guard those big guys the whole game," Lue said. "Larry loves it. He’s like ‘ thank you.’ " Joe Vardon of the Athletic reported that the front office wants Lue to play his young players as much as possible, so Nance could be poised for a breakout year and we like his price in the later rounds.
Sep 30 - 11:23 AM

The Cavs are "confident" that they'll be able to come to terms on an extension with Larry Nance.

Cleveland wants a long-term partnership with Nance, but to this point, we haven't seen any reports indicating that the feeling is mutual. At the very least, Nance should be able to earn around 20 minutes a night operating as Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson's backup, but his upside will be severely limited while both those guys are healthy. He might not be much more than a late-round guy this year.
Sep 26 - 11:39 AM

Signing Larry Nance to an extension is a priority for the Cavs, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

Nance will earn $2.3 million in 2018-19, and the Cavs can extend a qualifying offer at $3.7 million for 2019-20. When the Cavs traded for Nance at the deadline last February, the plan was to keep him in Cleveland longterm.
Jul 24 - 12:32 PM

The Cavs have expressed to Larry Nance that they view him as a "foundational piece," according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

The report adds that there is "a ton" of interest to discuss an extension with Nance. The 25-year-old forward is eligible for a rookie-scale contract, and the Cavs could lean on him as they likely rebuild their roster. If Kevin Love is traded, Nance would become a potential mid-round target in fantasy.
Jun 15 - 8:11 PM

Larry Nance Jr. scored nine points with 11 rebounds and one steal in Game 1 against Golden State on Thursday.

He had a postseason high in rebounds and was clearly playing with a different fire on the boards than he has in recent games. Nance only logged 19 minutes but was efficient shooting 4-of-6 from the floor with no turnovers. The Cavs were leaning on some bigger lineups as the game went along. At one point LeBron James, Jeff Green, J.R. Smith, Kevin Love and Nance were all on the floor. This lineup was on the floor together for less than a minute during the regular and postseason combined. Considering Nance had the best plus/minus among Cavs bigs tonight, he could see more run on Sunday.
