Signing Larry Nance to an extension is a priority for the Cavs, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
Nance will earn $2.3 million in 2018-19, and the Cavs can extend a qualifying offer at $3.7 million for 2019-20. When the Cavs traded for Nance at the deadline last February, the plan was to keep him in Cleveland longterm. Jul 24 - 12:32 PM

The Cavs have expressed to Larry Nance that they view him as a "foundational piece," according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

The report adds that there is "a ton" of interest to discuss an extension with Nance. The 25-year-old forward is eligible for a rookie-scale contract, and the Cavs could lean on him as they likely rebuild their roster. If Kevin Love is traded, Nance would become a potential mid-round target in fantasy.
Jun 15 - 8:11 PM

Larry Nance Jr. scored nine points with 11 rebounds and one steal in Game 1 against Golden State on Thursday.

He had a postseason high in rebounds and was clearly playing with a different fire on the boards than he has in recent games. Nance only logged 19 minutes but was efficient shooting 4-of-6 from the floor with no turnovers. The Cavs were leaning on some bigger lineups as the game went along. At one point LeBron James, Jeff Green, J.R. Smith, Kevin Love and Nance were all on the floor. This lineup was on the floor together for less than a minute during the regular and postseason combined. Considering Nance had the best plus/minus among Cavs bigs tonight, he could see more run on Sunday.
Jun 1 - 12:22 AM

Larry Nance Jr. struggled in eight minutes of action on Sunday, scoring two points with two rebounds and one turnover.

Nance had a rough stint in the first half and couldn't get out of his own way, committing four fouls during his limited time on the court. Cleveland controlled the second half to earn an 87-79 victory, due largely to their defense and Boston's poor shooting, and they'll get three days of rest before Game 1 on the Finals on Thursday. If Kevin Love (concussion) isn't ready to play by then, the Cavs will need Nance to play much better than he did tonight.
May 27 - 11:29 PM

Larry Nance scored 10 points with seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and no turnovers in 22 minutes against the Celtics on Friday.

The Cavs bench with LeBron was the difference in the second quarter with Nance getting plenty of time in the paint on both ends. Coach Ty Lue said earlier in the week that Nance knows his role now, but that role could expand now that Kevin Love (head) is banged up. Nance almost certainly would come off the bench regardless, but he could hit minutes around 20-25 with Love out.
May 25 - 11:24 PM

Tyronn Lue hinted that Larry Nance will be more involved in the rotation for the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals.

"His energy, his athleticism, his ability to switch and guard multiple positions is good for us," Lue said of Nance. "When he’s rolling to the basket, he got a couple dunks [during Game 3], and when they pull in to help, now you’ve got Kyle Korver and J.R. [Smith] making 3s. His athletic ability and his force rolling to the rim is really key for us." Nance had fallen out of the rotation during Cleveland's second-round series, but he was a key cog in the Cavs Game 3 win on Saturday with eight points, six boards, three dimes and three steals over 21 minutes.
May 21 - 6:20 PM

Larry Nance Jr. had a decent showing in Sunday's 98-80 blowout loss to Indiana, finishing with 10 points, five rebounds, two steals, and a block on 5-of-7 shooting in 29.5 minutes.

There is already momentum for Nance to replace Jeff Green in the starting five before Wednesday's Game 2 vs. the Pacers, but we'll see what Ty Lue (read: LeBron James) decides to implement. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, it's clear that Nance is well ahead of Tristan Thompson (no points, two minutes) in the rotation.
Apr 15 - 6:30 PM

Larry Nance, LeBron James and Jeff Green all played just 11 minutes during Wednesday's season finale, while George Hill played nine minutes.

"We're still playing to win but we want to be smart because since I've been here, we always preach health over positioning," coach Ty Lue said before the game. Nance finished with four points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal, and he should return to a bench role when the Cavs open the postseason vs. the Pacers.
Apr 11 - 11:09 PM

Larry Nance is listed as the starter in place of Kevin Love (rest) on Wednesday.

This should buoy Nance's playing time and he's solid on a per-minute basis, so don't hesitate to plug him into your lineups.
Apr 11 - 7:55 PM

The Cavaliers are blaming a "clerical error" for listing Larry Nance as a starter, as Jeff Green was the actual starter and the coaching staff's choice tonight.

This is a pretty weird situation, but either way, both Nance and Green are going to get minutes tonight. However, we would have liked Nance's chances for success a little better if he was in the starting unit.
Apr 3 - 7:23 PM

Larry Nance made 3-of-3 shots for seven points with six rebounds, one assist and one steal in just 22 minutes of action on Sunday.

That's more like it. Nance is shooting 58.7% from the field this season, but in the past four games he was a combined 6-of-19 (31.6%). It was only a matter of time before his shots started dropping again, and he's worth a look in category-based leagues if you need defensive stats -- he's less appealing in most points formats.
Apr 1 - 9:23 PM

Larry Nance moved into the starting lineup on Friday vs. the Pelicans, but played just 15 minutes with five points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and one triple.

Nance was a hot waiver-wire pickup after the All-Star break, but he’s been eerily quiet since returning from his hamstring tweak. In his previous four games he was averaging just 6.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.5 blocks in 19.3 minutes, and Kevin Love, Jeff Green and Tristan Thompson all got more minutes tonight. He's hard to trust in standard leagues unless his role grows.
Mar 30 - 10:28 PM

Larry Nance played 18 minutes and hit 2-of-5 shots for four points, 10 rebounds and a block on Tuesday, while Tristan Thompson also came off the bench for six points, 13 rebounds and a steal in 17 minutes.

Kevin Love may have suffered a concussion and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, and if he's out, Jeff Green, Nance and Thompson are all going to see extra minutes on Wednesday against the Hornets. The Cavs are in must-win mode with the Sixers just a 1/2 game back for the No. 3 seed and we'd rank these guys as Green, Nance and Thompson if Love's going to miss time. Stay tuned.
Mar 28 - 2:36 AM

Larry Nance struggled with foul trouble through 17 minutes as a starter on Sunday, finishing with just two points, one rebound and one steal.

Nance also struggled to get his shot to drop, ending his evening on 1-of-5 shooting from the field while missing both of his free throw attempts, so this was obviously a major dud with what was supposed to be a favorable matchup against Brooklyn. That said, Nance rarely has two awful games in a row, so we’d expect a bit of a bounce-back performance on Tuesday in Miami.
Mar 25 - 4:53 PM

Larry Nance is starting for Jeff Green (illness) on Sunday vs. the Nets.

Nance looked great in his first game back from his hamstring injury, scoring 15 points with 10 rebounds, two assists and one turnover in 22 minutes. He was a must-own player before the injury, so make sure he's not floating around your wire. Nance is expected to see a bump in minutes on Sunday in addition to Rodney Hood and Tristan Thompson who also just returned from injuries.
