Athletics activated Boog Powell from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville.

Powell has been on the 60-day disabled list since April 8 with a knee injury. He's been rehabbing since June 10, and hit .211/.412/.237 over 12 games. He'll likely head back to Oakland when rosters expand, assuming there isn't an injury in the Oakland outfield.
Aug 1 - 7:25 PM

Boog Powell (knee) began a rehab assignment with High-A Stockton on Saturday.

Powell played five innings in center field Saturday and will be back in the lineup Monday after sitting out Sunday. He'll then move up to Triple-A Nashville. Powell has been out since early April with a sprained right knee.
Jun 10 - 2:46 PM

Athletics transferred OF Boog Powell from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

This is a paperwork move to open a 40-man roster spot for Paul Blackburn, who will start for the A's on Thursday night against the Royals. Powell, who's been out since April 8 with a right knee sprain, is set to begin playing in games at extended spring training this weekend. He should be ready by the end of the month.
Jun 7 - 5:00 PM

Boog Powell (knee) is headed to extended spring training and will begin workouts on Friday.

Powell has been out with a sprained right knee since April 8, and just began taking batting practice last Tuesday. If everything goes well in the workouts in Arizona, he'll be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. There's a chance the A's might station him at Triple-A once he's back to full health.
Jun 6 - 12:02 AM

Boog Powell (knee) took batting practice Tuesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list.

Powell has been sidelined since April 8 with a sprained right knee and is still probably a couple weeks away from returning to the A's active roster. Dustin Fowler has taken over as Oakland's primary center fielder, so Powell might return in a utility role.
May 29 - 7:21 PM

Boog Powell (knee) has resumed baseball activities.

Powell has been on the disabled list since April 8 with the knee injury, and he started doing strength and conditioning activities at the end of April. He'll likely be able to go out on a rehab assignment soon, and then should have a chance to return to the Athletics -- assuming they want him on the 25-man roster -- near the end of May.
May 16 - 5:23 PM

Boog Powell (knee) is doing strengthening and conditioning but no baseball activity, manager Bob Melvin said.

Powell is on the 10-day disabled list due to a ligament sprain in his knee. Mark Canha, Jake Smolinski and Trayce Thompson are seeing time in center field while Powell is on the mend. He likely has several weeks before he is able to return to the big club.
Apr 29 - 1:26 AM

Boog Powell (knee) is expected to miss several weeks.

Powell was placed on the disabled list over the weekend with a ligament sprain in his knee. Jake Smolinski and Trayce Thompson should see time in center field for now, but it's probably just a matter of time before Dustin Fowler gets a shot.
Apr 10 - 8:53 PM

Athletics placed OF Boog Powell on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 7, with a sprained right knee.

Powell will be sent for an MRI on Monday, according to manager Bob Melvin. The team will bring up Mark Canha from Triple-A Nashville to take the place of Powell. When healthy he is only worth using in the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues.
Apr 8 - 2:18 AM

A's manager Bob Melvin said outfielder Boog Powell is dealing with a knee sprain and will be re-evaluated Sunday.

Dustin Fowler should get the bulk of playing time while Powell is sidelined, and possibly disabled. Powell has four hits in 24 at-bats thus far this year.
Apr 7 - 7:30 PM

Boog Powell will open the 2018 season as the A's primary center fielder.

He gets the nod over Dustin Fowler, who was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Powell has decent speed but probably won't be much of a fantasy contributor. The 25-year-old slashed .222/.308/.289 over 52 plate appearances this spring in the Cactus League.
Mar 28 - 1:57 PM

Boog Powell (knee) has been shut down for the year.

Powell suffered a bruised left kneecap last week. An MRI showed no structural damage, but the A's aren't going to push him with only six games remaining on their schedule. The 24-year-old outfielder posted a promising .321/.380/.494 batting line in 92 plate appearances with Oakland after being acquired from Seattle in early August for Yonder Alonso.

Boog Powell is not in the Athletics' lineup on Friday due to a bruised left kneecap.

Powell underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage. He was able to hit in the cages prior to Friday's game and will test out his knee by running on the field in an effort to determine when he's able to return.

Boog Powell went 2-for-4 with a double as the Athletics topped the Phillies on Friday night in Oakland.

The 24-year-old rookie outfielder has done a nice job so far, slashing .284/.364/.405 with three homers and 11 RBI in 133. With a strong finish to the season, he could put himself in a position to earn a starting job heading into 2018.
