Boog Powell (knee) has resumed baseball activities.
Powell has been on the disabled list since April 8 with the knee injury, and he started doing strength and conditioning activities at the end of April. He'll likely be able to go out on a rehab assignment soon, and then should have a chance to return to the Athletics -- assuming they want him on the 25-man roster -- near the end of May. Boog Powell (knee) is doing strengthening and conditioning but no baseball activity, manager Bob Melvin said.

Powell is on the 10-day disabled list due to a ligament sprain in his knee. Mark Canha, Jake Smolinski and Trayce Thompson are seeing time in center field while Powell is on the mend. He likely has several weeks before he is able to return to the big club.

Boog Powell (knee) is expected to miss several weeks.

Powell was placed on the disabled list over the weekend with a ligament sprain in his knee. Jake Smolinski and Trayce Thompson should see time in center field for now, but it's probably just a matter of time before Dustin Fowler gets a shot.
Apr 10 - 8:53 PM

Athletics placed OF Boog Powell on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 7, with a sprained right knee.

Powell will be sent for an MRI on Monday, according to manager Bob Melvin. The team will bring up Mark Canha from Triple-A Nashville to take the place of Powell. When healthy he is only worth using in the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues.
Apr 8 - 2:18 AM

A's manager Bob Melvin said outfielder Boog Powell is dealing with a knee sprain and will be re-evaluated Sunday.

Dustin Fowler should get the bulk of playing time while Powell is sidelined, and possibly disabled. Powell has four hits in 24 at-bats thus far this year.
Apr 7 - 7:30 PM

Boog Powell will open the 2018 season as the A's primary center fielder.

He gets the nod over Dustin Fowler, who was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Powell has decent speed but probably won't be much of a fantasy contributor. The 25-year-old slashed .222/.308/.289 over 52 plate appearances this spring in the Cactus League.
Mar 28 - 1:57 PM

Boog Powell (knee) has been shut down for the year.

Powell suffered a bruised left kneecap last week. An MRI showed no structural damage, but the A's aren't going to push him with only six games remaining on their schedule. The 24-year-old outfielder posted a promising .321/.380/.494 batting line in 92 plate appearances with Oakland after being acquired from Seattle in early August for Yonder Alonso.

Boog Powell is not in the Athletics' lineup on Friday due to a bruised left kneecap.

Powell underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage. He was able to hit in the cages prior to Friday's game and will test out his knee by running on the field in an effort to determine when he's able to return.

Boog Powell went 2-for-4 with a double as the Athletics topped the Phillies on Friday night in Oakland.

The 24-year-old rookie outfielder has done a nice job so far, slashing .284/.364/.405 with three homers and 11 RBI in 133. With a strong finish to the season, he could put himself in a position to earn a starting job heading into 2018.

Boog Powell went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI in Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday against the Astros.

Powell was 4-for-8 with four runs scored, a double, a walk and four RBI in the twin bill. Not bad. He has raised his average from .247 to .283 just since Sept. 5, and he has now rolled up six RBI over his past three outings.

Boog Powell finished 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, a walk and a pair of RBI in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday against the Astros.

Powell is starting to heat up with three multi-hit games over his past four outings, raising his average from .247 to .275 just since Sept. 5. It's baby steps, but he has three RBI over his past two outings to mark the first time he has driven in a run in consecutive games this season.

Boog Powell went 3-for-6 with a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 12-inning loss to the Orioles.

Powell and Marcus Semien did a nice job holding down the top two spots in the lineup in this one, combining for six hits in 11 at-bats. For his part, the 24-year-old Powell is hitting .303/.395/.379 with one homer and three RBI across 24 games played.

Boog Powell hit his first major league homer in the A's loss to the Orioles on Monday.

It was a solo shot in the top of the eighth inning against O's reliever Brad Brach. Powell also drew two walks in the game and has now reached base in 12 of his 23 trips to the plate since joining the Athletics in the Yonder Alonso trade. The 24-year-old outfielder should see regular playing time down the stretch in Oakland and holds some appeal in AL-only fantasy leagues.

Boog Powell (illness) is back in the Athletics' lineup Saturday against the Orioles.

Powell suffered an asthma attack on Friday but made a quick recovery and will make his Athletics' debut in center field Saturday against the O's. He'll hit leadoff against Baltimore right-hander Dylan Bundy.
