Rodney Hood hit 6-of-14 shots, a 3-pointer and 5-of-5 free throws for 18 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 24 minutes of Sunday's win over the Lakers.
Hood's been back from his Achilles injury for two games now and looked pretty good on Sunday. He's been in and out of the lineup since Christmas, but is worth keeping an eye on in case he can get, and stay, healthy. Just put him on your radar in case Sunday was the start of a hot streak for Hood. Jan 14 - 12:12 AM

Matthew Dellavedova (sprained left foot) is listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. Utah.

Delly had a left knee injury in late December that cost him a game, but this is the first we've heard about a foot ailment. If he doesn't suit up, Jordan Clarkson, Rodney Hood and Collin Sexton should divvy up his 18-20 minutes.

The Cavs are reportedly shopping Alec Burks and Rodney Hood.

Burks has played pretty well since landing in Cleveland, but the Cavs would probably be more than willing to move him if it resulted in a draft pick; the same goes for Hood. Both of these guys are in an ideal situation with the Cavs, so a move away from Cleveland could really only hurt them.

Larry Nance will enter the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with Minnesota.

David Nwaba (knee) is out tonight, so Nance will finally earn minutes at the four-spot by default. Joining him in the starting five will be Collin Sexton, Rodney Hood, Cedi Osman and Tristan Thompson. Nance hasn't been great this season, but maybe he'll be able to flirt with minutes in the mid-20s as a starter tonight.

Per Joe Vardon of The Athletic, J.R. Smith "will no longer be actively with the Cavs."

Smith has recently reiterated his desire to be traded and "has no interest in playing for a team that has no interest in winning." According to Vardon, Smith will work with the team to trade him, and in the meantime will work out on his own. Smith had very little fantasy value even when he was active, and belongs on waivers in all formats now. Rodney Hood and Jordan Clarkson should see an uptick in minutes for Cleveland.

Coach Larry Drew said that Cedi Osman (lower back spasms) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. the Bulls.

The Cavs are shorthanded all over the court, as they will play Saturday without Kevin Love (toe), Sam Dekker (knee) and George Hill (shoulder). Osman exited Wednesday's game early in the first quarter and was unable to return to the contest. However, there isn't once clear, primary beneficiary. Rodney Hood, Larry Nance, Kyle Korver and J.R. Smith, should all help soak up extra minutes with Osman out.

Cedi Osman (ankle) is being listed in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against the Raptors.

According to the lineup notes, Osman will be joined by George Hill, Rodney Hood, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson in the starting unit. There's a massive hole to fill in Cleveland with LeBron James no longer in town, and Osman could look to take on some of the offensive burden. Feel free to get him active.

J.R. Smith (sore right elbow) has been ruled out for Wednesday's season opener against the Raptors.

He was doubtful heading into this one, so Smith getting ruled out isn't surprising. It's unclear what role he'll have in the rotation this season, so he should be on the waiver wire everywhere. Rodney Hood and Jordan Clarkson will pick up a majority of the two-guard minutes tonight.

Updating a previous item, J.R. Smith (sore right elbow) is doubtful for Wednesday's game vs. the Raptors.

Smith did not play in the team's preseason finale on Friday and missed practice Tuesday afternoon. He has been diagnosed with elbow soreness. Smith took an MRI which revealed no structural damage. If Smith remains sidelined, Rodney Hood and Jordan Clarkson could see an uptick in minutes on Wednesday. Smith can be dropped in standard leagues.

LeBron James triple-doubled on Wednesday with 33 points (13-of-28 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), 11 assists, 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks, but it wasn't enough to avoid a Game 3 home defeat.

LBJ threw himself an impressive alley-oop in the first quarter which you can watch via the link below, and an ankle tweak prior to halftime didn't appear to hamper him. He wasn't as dominant as usual down the stretch of a must-win game, but there's no reason to think he'll be limited for a must-win home game on Friday. What he needs is added production from his teammates -- Rodney Hood and J.R. Smith reached double-digits, but Kevin Love scored most of his 20 points in the first half and the rest of the roster was vacant offensively.

J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver will move into the Cavs' starting lineup on Wednesday, replacing Rodney Hood and Jeff Green.

Rodney Hood and Jeff Green head to the bench as a consequence, which isn't a shock since both guys struggled during the Cavs' lopsided Game 1 defeat.

Kyle Korver - G/F - Jazz

Kyle Korver (foot) will be on a minutes limit for Sunday's Game 1 vs. Indiana.

Rodney Hood (Achilles) will start vs. the Pacers, but that could be subject to change this series dependent upon how things progress. Regardless, we wouldn't recommend relying on Korver in any fantasy setting—even as a specialist—given he's still banged up and on a minutes limit.

Kyle Korver - G/F - Jazz

Kyle Korver (foot) is questionable for Tuesday's game vs. the Raptors.

Korver is dealing with right foot soreness, which has opened up minutes for Rodney Hood and J.R. Smith. We should have an update on Korver's status after the Cavs shootaround Tuesday morning.
Tue, Apr 3, 2018 09:26:00 AM

Jose Calderon will move into the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Mavericks, with George Hill (ankle) unavailable.

Calderon will be joined by Rodney Hood, LeBron James, Kevin Love and Larry Nance, but Calderon getting the start doesn't mean much in fantasy hoops. Through 30 games as a starter this year, Calderon owns averages of 5.9 points, 2.7 assists and 1.1 triples per contest.

J.R. Smith (illness) is questionable for Friday's game vs. New Orleans.

Smith is coming off one of his better games of the season. In Wednesday's win over the Hornets, he tallied 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting), five rebounds, three assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes. Kyle Korver (foot) has also been ruled out of Friday's contest. If Smith is unable to play, Jordan Clarkson and Rodney Hood would see an uptick in playing time.

Larry Nance is starting for Jeff Green (illness) on Sunday vs. the Nets.

Nance looked great in his first game back from his hamstring injury, scoring 15 points with 10 rebounds, two assists and one turnover in 22 minutes. He was a must-own player before the injury, so make sure he's not floating around your wire. Nance is expected to see a bump in minutes on Sunday in addition to Rodney Hood and Tristan Thompson who also just returned from injuries.

George Hill scored 22 points during Wednesday's win vs. Toronto, going 10-of-11 from the field with two 3-pointers.

Hill added three rebounds, two steals and one block in 36 minutes, marking easily one of his best games since joining the Cavs in early February. The absence of Kyle Korver (personal) and Rodney Hood (back) opened up the rotation, and it helped that Toronto's defense was unusually lax, so we're not reading much into Hill's mini eruption.
Wed, Mar 21, 2018 09:53:00 PM

Jose Calderon started for Kyle Korver (personal) on Wednesday, posting 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting with four 3-pointers, four assists and one rebound in 27 minutes.

Korver is away from the Cavs indefinitely following the death of his brother, and Cleveland opted to shift George Hill to SG while keeping their second-unit rotation intact. We've already seen what Calderon looks like as a starter at age 36, and it's not inspiring -- in 26 previous starts, he averaged 5.6 points, 1.1 threes, 2.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 0.7 steals. Tonight's solid line aside, that's all owners can expect if Korver misses more time.
Wed, Mar 21, 2018 09:52:00 PM

Jeff Green started on Sunday but finished with only seven points on 2-of-8 shooting, three rebounds, one block and one 3-pointer in 22 minutes.

The Cavs were missing Rodney Hood (back) and Cedi Osman (hip) tonight, which forced coach Ty Lue to go with a small lineup featuring Green at SF and LeBron at PF. "If we're small, I don't see how [we can prevent offensive rebounds]," Lue said before the game. "We just gotta continue to keep boxing out and we gotta gang rebound." The Cavs were crushed 51-37 on the glass anyway, and Green is too inconsistent to own even if he earns more starts.
Mon, Mar 12, 2018 12:43:00 AM

J.R. Smith earned his one-game suspension from the team Thursday for throwing a bowl of soup at assistant coach Damon Jones, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

You can't make this stuff up, folks. The jokes will continue for the rest of the season and beyond, but Smith won't miss any more time. Coach Ty Lue told reporters on Thursday that Smith will return to practice Friday and start at shooting guard on Saturday when the Cavs host the Nuggets. Rodney Hood will get bumped back to the bench.

The Pistons have reportedly "ramped up their efforts" to move Stanley Johnson.

Johnson netted a career-high 26 points on Tuesday to go with 10 rebounds, four dimes, two steals, one triple and a block, so that should help his trade value. Detroit has reportedly been eying Rodney Hood, but it's not clear if Utah is interested in a Hood-Johnson swap. In terms of fantasy hoops, a move to Utah wouldn't be great for Johnson's rest-of-season outlook.
