Rodney Hood hit 5-of-10 shots and four more 3-pointers for 14 points, two rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes off the Cavs bench in Tuesday's 120-112 win over the Thunder.
Hood's averaging 14.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 3.5 3-pointers in his two games for the Cavs, and is going to be a key spot-up shooter from deep for the new-look Cavs. He may not have many assists, steals or blocks for his new teams, but he should score and hit a ton of 3-pointers, giving him some value in most fantasy leagues. The Pistons have reportedly "ramped up their efforts" to move Stanley Johnson.

Johnson netted a career-high 26 points on Tuesday to go with 10 rebounds, four dimes, two steals, one triple and a block, so that should help his trade value. Detroit has reportedly been eying Rodney Hood, but it's not clear if Utah is interested in a Hood-Johnson swap. In terms of fantasy hoops, a move to Utah wouldn't be great for Johnson's rest-of-season outlook.
Jan 31 - 11:16 AM

Alec Burks had nine points, two rebounds and one assist in 15 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

Rodney Hood (leg) was out for the third straight game and Utah has been vague about his possible return date -- we'll consider him questionable for Friday. Burks was averaging 16.0 points in his previous two games, but his minutes aren't reliable enough even with Hood temporarily sidelined. Tread carefully.
Jan 24 - 11:10 PM

Donovan Mitchell (toe) will start vs. the Thunder on Saturday.

Rodney Hood should revert to being the second unit's go-to scorer, with Mitchell starting alongside Ricky Rubio in the backcourt. Make sure Utah's star rookie is locked into your lineups in season-long leagues.

Donovan Mitchell (bruised toe) will be a game-time decision vs. the Spurs on Thursday.

Mitchell picked up the first DNP of his NBA career on Wednesday, but hopefully he'll feel well enough during warmups to give it a go tonight. If he winds up missing another game, expect Rodney Hood to start while Alec Burks picks up the slack with the second unit.

Donovan Mitchell (toe) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder.

This is the first time that Mitchell will be hitting the sidelines, but maybe he'll be able to get back out there for Thursday's matchup with the Spurs. Rodney Hood will likely return to the starting five tonight, and per nbawowy.com, Hood's usage spikes to 32.5 sans Mitchell and Rudy Gobert so he's on the radar as a potential DFS target. Ricky Rubio and Alec Burks also figure to see an uptick in minutes, and Derrick Favors (eye), who is expected back tonight, should see some increased responsibility on the offensive end.

Derrick Favors (eye) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Thunder.

With Donovan Mitchell (toe) also being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game, the Jazz could be hurting for offensive production tomorrow. Favors' absence would likely result in another start for Ekpe Udoh, while guys like Joe Johnson, Rodney Hood and Alec Burks would see an uptick in usage. Check back for another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround.
Tue, Dec 19, 2017 06:07:00 PM

Alec Burks came off the bench on Wednesday for 13 points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes of action.

Burks made 6-of-13 shots with one 3-pointer and his 25 minutes were in line with his recent workload. That's a very positive sign, since Rodney Hood (ankle) was back in action tonight, and Burks' owners should hang onto him in the hopes that he can hold onto 24+ minutes per game.
Thu, Dec 14, 2017 01:03:00 AM

Alec Burks hit 6-of-12 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points, three assists and two steals in 27 minutes off the bench in Thursday's loss to the Rockets.

He was a bit quiet on Tuesday with 11 points on 2-of-9 shooting, but got back on track tonight. He'll fade a bit once Rodney Hood is back from his ankle injury, but for now, Burks has basically become a must-own player as long as Hood's in street clothes.

Thabo Sefolosha hit 5-of-9 shots and two 3-pointers for 14 points, five rebounds, a steal and a block in 26 minutes off the bench on Thursday.

He had 11 points, eight boards, four steals, two blocks and a 3-pointer in his previous game and is averaging 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 0.6 blocks and 1.4 3-pointers on 61 percent shooting over his last five. If you need steals, blocks and 3-pointers, he's worth a look right now, but will also take a hit once Rodney Hood is back from his ankle injury.

Joe Johnson (right wrist) met with a hand specialist on Tuesday and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Johnson was initially targeting a return to the court by mid-November, but now it's looking like he won't be back to the court until December at the earliest. He did show signs of improvement at his checkup, but the 16-year vet simply needs a bit more time. Donovan Mitchell, Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles will all help fill the void in his absence.

Joe Johnson (tendon instability in his right wrist) will miss at least the next two weeks of action.

With Johnson out of commission for at least the next two weeks, Joe Ingles, Thabo Sefolosha and Donovan Mitchell should see an uptick in minutes, and Rodney Hood may be forced to spend some more time at the three. Mitchell could be someone to think about as a speculative add in deep leagues, while Sefolosha is more of a low-end steals specialist in deeper formats. Jonas Jerebko could also get into the rotation, but he's not someone to think about in most leagues. Johnson should be cut in leagues that don't offer an IR-spot.

Donovan Mitchell was a surprise starter in place of Rodney Hood (illness) on Wednesday, putting up 10 points, four assists, one rebound and one block during 26 minutes in his NBA debut.

Quin Snyder loves Mitchell's defense and said he wants the rookie to develop his own identity as a guard, which bodes well. As for the starting job, that appears to have been a temporary situation because Hood was sick before the game -- Mitchell should be coming off the bench in Minnesota on Friday.

Gordon Hayward reportedly plans to sign with the Celtics.

This is the second summer in a row that Danny Ainge will be snagging an All-Star during free agency, and Hayward will now be reunited with his former college coach. The contract is reportedly a four-year deal for the max, and Hayward figures to be a primary creator in the Boston attack, so he shouldn't have much trouble flirting with early-round value in his new location. On Utah's side, they now have a huge hole to fill, and if they aren't able to bring in another free agent, Rodney Hood and Joe Ingles would figure to benefit most.

Joe Johnson hit 6-of-14 shots and two 3-pointers off the bench for 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a steal in Tuesday's Game 5 96-92 win over the Clippers.

Johnson has been great in this series and is one of a handful of older NBA stars to come through in the playoffs, when their regular season wasn't all that special. Johnson scored 28 in Game 4 on Sunday and has been a double-digit scorer the entire series. He's tough to rely on when Gordon Hayward is healthy, but both Johnson and Rodney Hood (16 points, 4 3-pointers) came through off the bench tonight. They'll both need to do it again on Friday if the Jazz are going to close out the Clippers and avoid a Game 7 in L.A.

Gordon Hayward (quad), Derrick Favors (knee) and Rodney Hood (knee) will play Wednesday vs. the Spurs.

The Jazz are fighting for the No. 4 seed out West, so aside from Favors, none of Utah's main guys figures to have a minutes limit tonight. Hood and Hayward should both be in the starting lineup tonight, which will result in Joe Ingles and Dante Exum heading back to the second unit. Feel free to get Hayward active.

Joe Ingles - G/F - Jazz

Joe Ingles hit 5-of-12 shots and two 3-pointers for 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal in Thursday's loss to the Cavs.

Both Rodney Hood and Derrick Favors are out right now with knee injuries and it's possible that either player could be ruled out for the rest of the regular season at any time. If it happens, Ingles is going to find himself in the starting lineup on most nights and is averaging 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.1 3-pointers as a starter this season. He may be worth stashing now just for the potential steals and 3-pointers that may be accompanying him.

Joe Ingles - G/F - Jazz

Joe Ingles started the second half on Wednesday in place of Rodney Hood (knee), finishing with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from downtown, four assists, three rebounds and one steal.

Hood's knee is an ongoing issue that could force him to sit out Thursday's game, in which case Ingles is the likely starter. He logged 27 minutes tonight and could play 30+ if Hood does sit out -- Hood said he was sore after the game, so it's quite possible. Give Ingles some thought if you want a 3-point shooter who won't hurt you anywhere.

Joe Ingles - G/F - Jazz

Joe Ingles shifted to a bench role on Wednesday, putting up six points, five rebounds and six assists on 2-of-6 shooting, with all of his attempts coming from downtown.

Utah has now won four straight games, putting them 2.5 games up on the Clippers for the No. 4 seed and homecourt advantage in the first round. Ingles is giving them strong minutes whether he's starting or coming off the bench, and he's worth a look if you can use his averages from the past five games -- 8.2 points. 2.6 triples, 3.6 boards, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals.

Joe Ingles - G/F - Jazz

Joe Ingles will shift to the bench on Wednesday with Rodney Hood moving into the starting lineup.

Hood played 20 minutes off the bench in his last game, as Utah continues to play it safe due to his knee issues, but his minutes should jump tonight. Joe Johnson (groin) is also active tonight, which is a double hit to Ingles' value.
Wed, Mar 8, 2017 08:02:00 PM

Joe Johnson (groin) was able to go through portions of shootaround, but he remains questionable for Wednesday's game against Houston.

The groin injury has forced Johnson to spend the past three games on the sidelines, and while him getting through portions of Wednesday's shootaround is a positive sign, it still seems unlikely that he'll be able to take the court tonight. Joe Ingles and Rodney Hood will continue to pick up the slack in his absence.
