Aaron Gordon had one of his best performances of the season during a 105-103 win over the Celtics on Saturday, scoring 28 points with 12 rebounds, two assists, one block, six turnovers and one 3-pointer in 37 minutes.
He was 13-of-13 from the line for his most makes at the charity stripe in his NBA career, and he was 7-of-14 from the field, as well. Gordon's shooting slumps have been far too frequent and he was sitting at 39.1 FG% in his previous January games. He has missed a lot of shots in the paint this season when he's cold, so maybe he can draw some more fouls. Gordon still has a long way to go to get to where he should be based on his ADP. Nikola Vucevic (personal) is planning to play vs. the Bulls on Friday, according to coach Steve Clifford.

In case you missed it, Vuc is out Wednesday due to the birth of his first child. "I think his plan is – as long as tonight goes well – to come in and practice [on Thursday] and hopefully go to Chicago and play on Friday," said coach Steve Clifford. Mo Bamba should be the biggest winner in his absence, with offensive usage also accruing to Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier and others.

Evan Fournier (personal) is expected to replace Jonathon Simmons in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Bulls.

Fournier has officially rejoined the team in Mexico City and is a go tonight, so owners shouldn't hesitate to get him active. The Magic will likely roll out a starting five featuring D.J. Augustin, Fournier, Jonathan Isaac, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic tonight, and it'll be interesting to see how long Isaac is able to remain a starter.

Evan Fournier (personal) will not suit up for Monday's game against the Mavericks.

It's unclear exactly what Fournier is dealing with, but with the Magic off until Thursday after today's game, hopefully, this will only end up being a one-game absence. With Fournier unavailable, Jonathan Isaac may be able to return to the starting five, and guys like Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic will be asked to do a bit more on offense.

Jarell Martin scored a season-high 10 points in 18 minutes on Wednesday, hitting 4-of-6 shots with two 3-pointers and three rebounds.

Martin moved up in the rotation due to Aaron Gordon's absence, but AG is just day-to-day with a tight back. Leave him on the wire.

Jonathan Isaac made a fill-in start on Wednesday, posting 16 points (5-of-9 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), seven rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers in 30 minutes.

Aaron Gordon (lower back tightness) exited early vs. Golden State on Monday and wasn't able to suit up tonight, though he "hopes to return by Friday." Isaac no longer has any medical restrictions and games like this are the reason we've been eagerly awaiting his return to health. He was coming off a 15-point, three-triple game vs. Golden State, and is worth adding in most leagues even if Gordon is day-to-day. He's yet to show consistency this season, but you'll want to be there when he does.
Thu, Nov 29, 2018 12:36:00 AM

Jonathon Simmons played only seven minutes on Friday, scoring five points (1-of-2 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs) with one rebound, one steal and one block.

The Magic have begun experimenting with a B.I.G. frontcourt featuring Mo Bamba, Jonathan Isaac and Aaron Gordon. That cuts into Simmons' already marginal role and he's now played a combined 17 minutes in the past tow games. Even deep-league owners should have more appealing options on the wire.

The Magic opened their five-game road trip with an ugly loss in Denver on Friday, despite Terrence Ross scoring 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting with four 3-pointers.

Ross didn't do much else with just one assist and two turnovers, though, and the only Magic player who satisfied fantasy owners tonight was Aaron Gordon (14 points, nine boards, five assists, one steal, one block). Ross is the definition of a points-and-threes specialist, and his 8-cat/9-cat value is limited by a modest 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks.

Wesley Iwundu will remain in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Knicks.

The Magic have been very cautious in bringing Jonathan Isaac back from the ankle issue, but it should only be a matter of time until Isaac regains his place in the starting unit. Joining Iwundu in the starting five will be D.J. Augustin, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic.
Sun, Nov 18, 2018 04:28:00 PM

Jarell Martin will start Sunday's game in place of Aaron Gordon (left ankle).

Mo Bamba was "a candidate to start" but he'll stick in his usual reserve role, with Martin gaining the most for DFS purposes. Gordon is just day-to-day, though, so this shouldn't have lasting implications.

Evan Fournier (sprained right ankle) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pistons.

It's unclear exactly when Fournier suffered the ankle injury, but we should get more clarity on his status based on his activity level at Wednesday's shootaround. If he is forced to the sidelines, it'll likely be Jonathon Simmons or Terrence Ross getting the start, and Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic will be asked to do more on offense. Stay tuned.

Wesley Iwundu will remain in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Cavs.

Jonathan Isaac (ankle) is out, so Iwundu gets the start and he'll be joined by D.J. Augustin, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic. Iwundu didn't do much as a starter on Sunday, while Terrence Ross put up 17 points in 31 minutes off the bench, so Ross makes for a more attractive target in fantasy hoops.
Mon, Nov 5, 2018 05:25:00 PM

Jonathan Isaac will be in the starting lineup for Monday's preseason matchup with the 76ers.

Joining Isaac in the starting five will be D.J. Augustin, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic. Isaac was limited to just 27 games during his rookie season as he dealt with various injuries, but if he can claim the starting small forward position, he'll be in a great spot to take a big leap forward in Year-2. He's an attractive, late-round target for his output with the defensive stats.
Mon, Oct 1, 2018 05:59:00 PM

Head coach Frank Vogel said that D.J. Augustin, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic will not play "big minutes" on Wednesday.

In other words, the vets will have their minutes limited as Orlando tanks away the final game of their season, making these guys tough to trust in DFS. This is good news for Mario Hezonja and Khem Birch, though.
Wed, Apr 11, 2018 12:39:00 PM

Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon will be in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with Milwaukee.

The Magic are on the second leg of a back-to-back set, so there was some fear that one of these guys could hit the sidelines, but that will not be the case. Joining these two in the starting five will be Mario Hezonja, D.J. Augustin and Wes Iwundu.
Mon, Apr 9, 2018 06:49:00 PM

Jonathon Simmons (wrist) and Jonathan Isaac (ankle) will not play Wednesday against the Mavericks.

Both the Magic and Mavericks will be sitting out a handful of players as each team battles for the worst overall record. Aaron Gordon and Mario Hezonja should see plenty of minutes and opportunity on offense tonight while Khem Birch will have the opportunity for minutes in the mid-20s. This will be Simmons' eighth consecutive game on the sidelines, and he might be done for the year.
Wed, Apr 4, 2018 11:05:00 AM

Rodney Purvis will move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nets.

Wes Iwundu (illness) is sitting this one out, so Purvis will draw the start and he'll be joined by D.J. Augustin, Mario Hezonja, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic. Purvis did have a nice 19-point, three-triple game against the 76ers last Thursday, so he could be someone to consider streaming or throwing out there in DFS with a favorable matchup against Brooklyn.
Wed, Mar 28, 2018 05:25:00 PM

Jonathon Simmons (right wrist contusion) did not practice on Wednesday and is being listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the 76ers.

Simmons sat out Tuesday's game, which resulted in Arron Afflalo drawing the start, but he didn't really do anything while he was out there. Simmons skipping Wednesday's practice isn't a great sign regarding his status for tomorrow's game, and if he's out again, it'll be Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic running the show on offense with more minutes falling to Jonathan Isaac and Mario Hezonja. Check back for another update following Thursday morning's shootaround.
Wed, Mar 21, 2018 01:30:00 PM

Arron Afflalo will be in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Raptors, with Jonathon Simmons (wrist) unavailable.

Joining Afflalo in the starting five will be D.J. Augustin, Jonathan Isaac, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vuceciv. While Afflalo will be drawing the start tonight, we'd expect Mario Hezonja to pick up the majority of Simmons' minutes, so he's a far more attractive target than the 32-year-old veteran.
Tue, Mar 20, 2018 06:36:00 PM

Mario Hezonja and Jonathan Isaac will start on Friday vs. the Kings.

This is an expected move with Evan Fournier (knee) and Aaron Gordon (concussion) out. We don't know how long those guys are going to be out, but the Magic may be very cautious given their position in the standings. Hezonja was putting up early-round numbers the last time AG went down, so he has to be picked up everywhere and can be considered a must-start player.
Fri, Mar 9, 2018 08:36:00 PM

Mario Hezonja played 27 minutes off the bench on Thursday, posting 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.

Hezonja was thriving in an expanded role as a starter while Aaron Gordon (hip) was out, but this reserve role is not a death sentence for his fantasy appeal. When coach Frank Vogel was asked how he could maintain Hezonja's rhythm with the second unit, he replied, "Keep playing him a lot of minutes. I intend to keep him in there." If someone hastily cut him with Gordon back in action, don't hesitate to pick him up.
