Greg Monroe finished his disappointing preseason with a whimper on Thursday, scoring eight points with four rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 22 minutes against the Pelicans.
With most of the Raptors regulars sitting, Monroe had a chance to showcase himself. Much like his previous three preseason outings, he did not impress. He looks to be buried on the bench for a team that wants to play small. Monroe has very little fantasy value to start the season. Oct 11 - 11:04 PM

Al Horford (rest) will not suit up for Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Nets.

Guerschon Yabusele is also questionable with knee soreness, so Greg Monroe could be looking at quality minutes tonight, putting him on the radar in DFS with a favorable matchup against Brooklyn. Marcus Morris should also have more minutes and shots falling his way with both Horford and Terry Rozier (rest) unavailable.
Apr 11 - 1:24 PM

Terry Rozier (rest) and Al Horford (rest) will not suit up for Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Nets.

This is the least surprising move ever with the Celtics on the second leg of a back-to-back set against one of the worst teams out East. Shane Larkin figures to draw the start tonight with Kadeem Allen backing him up, and there will be more minutes available for Greg Monroe. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be very busy on the offensive end in this one.
Apr 11 - 1:22 PM

Al Horford (rest) and Jayson Tatum (rest) have both been ruled out of Friday's game vs. the Bulls.

With the No. 2 seed in the East already locked up, the shorthanded Celtics want to make sure they don't lose any more key players to injury. Nonetheless, it's a tough blow for fantasy owners who are still playing for their league championship. With Horford sidelined, Aron Baynes and Greg Monroe will be the primary beneficiaries. However, it'd difficult to trust either player Friday night in DFS or as a streamer. Marcus Morris will also see an uptick in minutes.
Apr 6 - 12:46 PM

Al Horford scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting Tuesday, to go with five rebounds, five assists, one 3-pointer, two steals, one block and one turnover in 36 minutes.

The Bucks did a good job of denying Horford the rock for most of the game, and while he came through with some big buckets late, it ultimately wasn't enough to seal the deal for Boston. Greg Monroe finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and three turnovers in 23 minutes off the bench, and both these guys will be more involved in the offense while Terry Rozier (ankle) is out.
Apr 3 - 10:43 PM

Al Horford (left ankle) is questionable to play Wednesday against the Jazz.

Marcus Morris (ankle) has already been ruled out for Wednesday's game, and if Horford is forced to join him on the sidelines, Greg Monroe could be looking at a start and he'd see a lot of shots falling his way with both those guys out. Aron Baynes would also see an uptick in minutes, but Monroe is the more attractive target here. Head coach Brad Stevens said that Horford will only play if he feels "great," so there's a decent chance he sits tonight.
Mar 28 - 1:01 PM

Marcus Morris (sprained right ankle) said he will not play Wednesday against the Jazz.

This isn't surprising considering Morris said he "could be out a couple days" after spraining his right ankle during Monday's win, and for now, we'll be considering him questionable for Saturday's game against the Raptors. With Morris unavailable, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier will see an uptick in usage, and there will be more minutes for guys like Greg Monroe and Semi Ojeleye.
Mar 28 - 12:54 PM

Kyrie Irving (sore left knee) and Jaylen Brown (concussion) will remain on the sidelines for Tuesday's game against the Thunder.

Brad Stevens said on Sunday that Irving was "feeling better," but they've made it clear that they won't bring him back until he's clearly 100%, so Tuesday will mark his fourth straight game on the sidelines with a sore knee. It's also not a great sign that he's getting ruled out a full 24 hours in advance. Terry Rozier and Jayson Tatum will be very busy on the offensive end while these guys are out, and Greg Monroe will see some more minutes and shots falling his way. Irving's next opportunity to play will come Friday in Portland.
Mar 19 - 4:56 PM

Kyrie Irving (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Pelicans.

There was a chance Irving was going to play today, but ultimately, the Celtics will play it safe with his sore left knee. Jaylen Brown (concussion), Marcus Smart (thumb) and Daniel Theis (knee) will join Irving on the sidelines, so Terry Rozier, Marcus Morris and Al Horford will be asked to step it up on offense, with more minutes falling to guys like Shane Larkin and Greg Monroe. Irving's next opportunity to play will come Tuesday vs. OKC, and for now, we'll be considering him questionable for that one.
Mar 18 - 3:33 PM

Terry Rozier, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Morris, Guerschon Yabusele and Aron Baynes will start Wednesday vs. Washington.

In case you missed it, Kyrie Irving (knee), Jaylen Brown (concussion), Daniel Theis (knee), Al Horford (illness) and Marcus Smart (thumb) are all out tonight, so it should be the Tatum and Scary Terry show on offense, with both those guys looking like attractive DFS options. Morris should also see some more shots falling his way, as will Greg Monroe, and Yabusele could be viewed as a deep league streamer.
Mar 14 - 6:11 PM

Al Horford (illness) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards.

Kyrie Irving (knee), Jaylen Brown (concussion), Marcus Smart (thumb) and Daniel Theis (knee) will be joining Horford on the sidelines tonight, so Terry Rozier and Jayson Tatum (back) figure to be extremely busy on offense. There will also be more opportunity for guys like Marcus Morris and Greg Monroe. This will be Horford's second straight game on the sidelines due to the illness, but maybe he'll be able to get back out there for Friday's game in Orlando.
Mar 14 - 12:48 PM

Al Horford (illness) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Wizards.

Horford missed Sunday's game with the illness and didn't show up to the facility on Monday, so he does appear to be fairly sick and is officially in danger of missing his second straight game. If he's out, there will be more minutes available for Greg Monroe and guys like Terry Rozier and Jayson Tatum will be extremely busy on offense with Jaylen Brown (concussion) and Kyrie Irving (knee) already ruled out. Check back for another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround.
Mar 13 - 4:54 PM

Al Horford (illness) did not show up to the Celtics facility on Monday.

He's still recovering from the illness that kept him out of Sunday's game, but he does have another two full days to recover ahead of Wednesday's game vs. Washington. Owners can expect to get another few updates in the intervening days leading up to Wednesday's tip, but if Horford is forced to sit, Greg Monroe would be someone to consider in DFS. Stay tuned.
Mar 12 - 2:16 PM

Daniel Theis (sore right hamstring) is expected to play on Saturday vs. Houston.

Theis expects to play so long as he makes it through shootaround, and Brad Stevens didn't seem too concerned about his big man's availability. However, with Aron Baynes and Al Horford both healthy—not to mention the presence of Greg Monroe—it remains to be seen how much time Theis sees in his return to action.
Mar 3 - 12:27 PM

Daniel Theis (sore right hamstring) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Hornets.

Greg Monroe should be able to get back into the rotation tonight with Theis unavailable, although that doesn't mean a whole lot with Aron Baynes and Al Horford healthy. The hamstring issue for Theis doesn't seem all that serious considering he was initially being listed as probable, and with the Celtics off until Saturday after Wednesday's game, this might end up being just a one-game absence for the rookie.
Feb 28 - 12:30 PM

Aron Baynes (elbow) will return to the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with Memphis, sending Daniel Theis back to the bench.

Baynes should be good for minutes in the high-teens tonight, but with averages of just 5.8 points, 5.3 boards and 0.7 blocks per game as a starter this season, that doesn't mean much. Theis will split the reserve minutes with Greg Monroe, rending both those guys non-options in most leagues.
Feb 26 - 6:20 PM

Aron Baynes (elbow) will play Monday vs. the Grizzlies.

Baynes will likely replace Daniel Theis in the starting five tonight, and with him back out there, there will be fewer minutes available for Theis and Greg Monroe. Baynes isn't a realistic target in most settings.
Feb 26 - 5:46 PM

Semi Ojeleye fell out of the Celtics' rotation on Thursday.

The rookie forward was averaging 25.3 minutes in Boston's previous four games, and coach Brad Stevens gave him a vote of confidence after tonight's DNP-CD. "He's a big part of our rotation, a big part of who we are," Stevens said. "We're going to be in experimentation-mode for a while." Ojeleye's fantasy value has vanished with Greg Monroe in Boston.
Feb 8 - 11:57 PM

Aron Baynes started Thursday's game but finished with just two points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 14 minutes of action.

The Celtics' physical veteran isn't rostered in most fantasy leagues anyway, but he looks like the biggest loser with Greg Monroe in Boston -- he hadn't played fewer than 16 minutes in over two weeks. The silver lining is that Baynes appears healthy after being cleared for concussion symptoms during Tuesday's game vs. Toronto.
Feb 8 - 11:41 PM

Aron Baynes scored eight points on 3-of-5 shooting Sunday to go with eight rebounds, two blocks and two turnovers through 21 minutes as a starter.

Baynes came through with the blocks, but it could be tough for him to find meaningful minutes once Greg Monroe works his way into the rotation. Daniel Theis recorded six points, eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one turnover in 20 minutes off the bench, but he might drop from the rotation entirely once Monroe gets out there. Baynes and Theis belong on the waiver wire in most leagues.
Feb 4 - 2:56 PM

Isaiah Canaan, Troy Daniels, T.J. Warren, Dragan Bender and Greg Monroe will start on Monday vs. the Grizzlies.

The Suns are shorthanded tonight with Devin Booker (ribs) and Marquese Chriss (ankle) out. Tyson Chandler is also getting the night off. Canaan has outplayed Tyler Ulis since he arrived in Phoenix and is the best bet to help fantasy owners in Phoenix's backcourt.
