Eric Gordon (groin) returned to action on Saturday against the Spurs, making 10-of-26 from the field for 23 points with four rebounds, two assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in 30 minutes.
The Rockets are basically out of second-unit players right now because of Carmelo Anthony dealing with an "illness" today and Gerald Green hurting his ankle. If Melo and the Rockets can't come to terms, that should open up even more shots for Gordon. He was very injury-prone in his Pelicans days, so hopefully his groin issue is behind him. James Harden (hamstring) is listed as available on the injury report for Saturday's game in Chicago.

This was expected, as coach Mike D'Antoni, speaking with reporters on Friday, said Harden was probable for Saturday's game vs. the Bulls and that the main reason Harden didn't play in Brooklyn was because it was the first game of a back-to-back. In addition, Houston reporter Jonathan Feigen said he doesn't expect any limitations on Harden Saturday night. Once we have confirmation from the Rockets that Harden will suit up, make sure he is in your starting lineups. Eric Gordon (leg) started on Friday but has been ruled out for Saturday.
Nov 3 - 1:58 PM

James Ennis (hamstring) is "expected to return" on Friday vs. the Nets.

This comes from beat writer Jonathan Feigen, who is as plugged-in to Rockets news anyone. He adds that Ennis "likely will reclaim his spot in the starting lineup," which should bump either Eric Gordon or Carmelo Anthony back to the second unit. We'll know more after Friday's shootaround.
Nov 1 - 4:53 PM

James Harden (strained left hamstring) will miss the Rockets' next two games and will be reevaluated next week.

An MRI revealed a Grade-1 strain and it remains to be seen if he misses more than two games -- he'll be evaluated again prior to Houston's road trip, beginning Friday, Nov. 2. He's out Friday and next Tuesday which means Chris Paul will be very busy as a playmaker. Eric Gordon will get all the minutes he can handle but obviously no one player can absorb Harden's massive role for the Rockets. If he does return for the start of Houston's road trip, owners could still get two games out of him next week.
Oct 25 - 5:03 PM

Chris Paul has been suspended for two games for his part in Saturday's altercation with Rajon Rondo.

CP3 got the lightest suspension out of the group, which makes sense, considering the entire altercation began with Rondo spitting in his face. He'll miss Sunday and Wednesday's games, but he'll be back out there on Friday. Michael Carter-Williams could draw the start in his place tonight, or James Harden could shift over to PG with Eric Gordon entering the starting five. MCW isn't a very attractive option, even as a starter.
Oct 21 - 6:34 PM

The Rockets are reportedly unwilling to include P.J. Tucker in a trade that would net them Jimmy Butler.

Minnesota reportedly reached out to Houston on Tuesday morning after Miami deal fell through, and they are reportedly seeking a package that would include Eric Gordon, Tucker and some draft picks. As of right now, Miami and Houston appear to be the frontrunners in the Butler sweepstakes, and it sounds like they're playing hardball, as Minnesota has very little leverage. To be clear, nothing is imminent.
Oct 10 - 10:47 AM

Coach Mike D'Antoni is "strongly leaning towards" using Carmelo Anthony as his sixth man, according to Tim MacMahon of

Eric Gordon and P.J. Tucker are expected to fill out the starting lineup with the three studs, and MDA said he wants to stagger Tucker and Melo. If Anthony does indeed come off the bench and he is staggered from Tucker, there's almost no chance he'll meet his career-low 32 minutes per game. He's more of a late-round flier in drafts.
Sep 26 - 2:29 PM

Chris Paul (hamstring) is questionable to play in Game 7 on Monday.

"He looks questionable," said D'Antoni when asked about Paul's status for Game 7. "I'm sure the team doctors will check him out tomorrow. We might not know until afternoon. We'll play it by ear." It sounds like CP3 could be headed for a game-time call, but the odds of him being able to get out there aren't great. If Paul is forced to watch Game 7 from the sidelines, Eric Gordon will stick with the starters and there will be more minutes for Gerald Green.
May 27 - 6:39 PM

Chris Paul will not play in Game 6 on Saturday against Golden State due to a right hamstring strain.

CP3 tweaked his right hamstring late in the fourth quarter of Game 5 on Thursday. He'll be re-evaluated again once the team returns to Houston, but this is not the news that the Rockets wanted to hear. Eric Gordon will have to step up on the offensive end in a major way, which he's shown he can do. This season when Paul and James Harden were sitting, Gordon averaged 34.6 points and 6.5 assists per 40 minutes. He played 36 minutes in Game 5, his most of this postseason. Expect somewhere around there again in Game 6.
May 25 - 12:25 PM

James Harden had 27 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in Houston’s 127-105 Game 2 win over Golden State on Wednesday.

Harden’s 27 points tied Eric Gordon for the team-high, and he got some much needed help from his teammates for Houston to pull off the victory and tie the series at 1-1. Five Rockets scored in double digits, including Chris Paul, P.J. Tucker and Trevor Ariza, and the team knocked down 16 triples after making 13 in Game 1. Harden also came up big on the glass, and his 10 boards were a postseason high.
May 16 - 11:31 PM

Lou Williams, Eric Gordon and Fred VanVleet have been named the three finalists for the 2017-18 Sixth Man of the Year award.

Williams won the award in 2015 and he's the overwhelming favorite to take it home again this season, having averaged a career-high 22.6 points per game with 2.4 triples, 5.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals. His 6.2 free-throw makes per game were 11th-most in the league, far higher than any other reserve, which helped propel him to top-80 roto value.
May 16 - 8:38 PM

Trevor Ariza, Chris Paul, James Harden, Eric Gordon and Clint Capela will all be rested for Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Kings.

It's a matchup against the Kings and the Rockets are locked in as the No. 1 seed, so there's zero incentive for any of the main guys to risk getting injured tonight. Joe Johnson and Gerald Green should be busy on offense tonight with all the main guys out.
Apr 11 - 9:05 PM

Chris Paul (rest, hip) and Nene (back) have been upgraded to probable for Tuesday's game against the Wizards.

CP3 was listed as "questionable" on Monday, but the plan for some time has been for him to get back to the floor for tonight's game, and we should have official confirmation soon enough. With Paul back in action, Eric Gordon will return to the second unit, and Nene's return could drop Tarik Black from the rotation entirely.
Apr 3 - 5:18 PM

Chris Paul (rest, hip) is being listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Wizards.

Mike D'Antoni said on Sunday that he expected CP3 to get back out there for Tuesday's game, so the questionable tag feels more like a formality. We should get another update following shootaround, but if he is able to get back out there, Eric Gordon will return to the second unit and Gerald Green's minutes could head back to the teens. Stay tuned.
Apr 2 - 4:09 PM

Chris Paul (rest, hip) has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. the Spurs.

Paul was initially ruled out of Friday's game due to a "sore left hip." However, the Rockets later said they were giving CP3 a rest day. We don't yet have an official reason for Paul being sidelined on Sunday, only that he won't play. Eric Gordon (knee) will return to game action on Sunday and should see plenty of playing time and scoring opportunities.
Mar 31 - 1:37 PM

Coach Mike D'Antoni said that Chris Paul (hamstring) is doubtful for Saturday's game vs. New Orleans and that he was "not certain" about Sunday's game vs. Atlanta.

Paul tweaked his hamstring in the closing seconds of Tuesday's win over the Blazers. CP3 has downplayed the injury since it happened. However, the Rockets are smartly erring on the side of caution with their star guard. Paul has dealt with nagging hamstring issues since the start of the season, and Houston has virtually locked up the No. 1 spot in the West. Thus, they have no need to rush him back until he is 100 percent healthy. Gerald Green and Eric Gordon will again see an uptick in minutes Saturday night.
Mar 23 - 12:58 PM

Chris Paul (left knee soreness) is questionable to play Thursday vs. the Clippers.

CP3 missed time with a left knee issue earlier in the year, so if there's any hint that he's not 100% after shootaround on Thursday, the Rockets may want to play it safe and keep him out despite him saying he's fine. James Harden would shift back to the one with Eric Gordon sliding back into the starting five if Paul sits, and Gerald Green could pick up some extra minutes. Stay tuned.
Mar 14 - 12:04 PM

James Harden (knee) will play Monday vs. the Spurs, as expected.

Harden was rested on Sunday with a matchup against the 21-46 Mavericks, but the plan was always to get him back to the court tonight. Eric Gordon will return to the second unit with Harden active, and his value will take a slight hit.
Mar 12 - 6:21 PM

James Harden (knee) will not play vs. the Mavericks on Sunday, but he will return vs. San Antonio on Monday.

It sounds as though Harden's absence is just a precaution against the cellar-dwelling Mavs, particularly in the first half of a back-to-back set. "Just a little rest ... make sure he's ready for the next game," coach Mike D'Antoni said. Eric Gordon will step into the starting role and Harden's usage will be absorbed by a committee that includes Gordon, Chris Paul and Trevor Ariza.
Mar 11 - 5:32 PM

Gerald Green was a healthy scratch for Houston on Sunday.

Mike D'Antoni spoke recently about the difficulty of playing 10-11 players every night, and Green was the odd-man out tonight with Joe Johnson (seven points, two assists) playing 29 minutes off the bench. His DNP came despite the absence of Eric Gordon (illness), which makes it even worse. He belongs on the wire in all formats.
Feb 26 - 12:06 AM

Gerald Green netted 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting Saturday, to go with four 3-pointers, three rebounds, one steal, three blocks and one turnover in 30 minutes off the bench.

Green amassed all three of his swats through the first quarter of action, and he made the most of his extended minutes with both Eric Gordon (back) and Trevor Ariza (hamstring) unavailable. However, Gordon is expected to get back to the court on Tuesday in Brooklyn, so Green will likely see his minutes reduced to the lower-20s. He's someone to consider streaming when the Rockets are less than 100%, but he's not worth owning in most leagues when their backcourt is fully intact.
