Eric Gordon (illness) was unable to practice on Saturday and is doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Nuggets.
Gordon missed Friday's game vs. Minnesota due to the same illness. If he is unable to suit up on Sunday as well, P.J. Tucker, Luc Mbah a Moute and Joe Johnson would see additional playing time. The Rockets then play the back end of a back-to-back on Monday in Utah. Feb 24 - 12:39 PM

Gerald Green netted 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting Saturday, to go with four 3-pointers, three rebounds, one steal, three blocks and one turnover in 30 minutes off the bench.

Green amassed all three of his swats through the first quarter of action, and he made the most of his extended minutes with both Eric Gordon (back) and Trevor Ariza (hamstring) unavailable. However, Gordon is expected to get back to the court on Tuesday in Brooklyn, so Green will likely see his minutes reduced to the lower-20s. He's someone to consider streaming when the Rockets are less than 100%, but he's not worth owning in most leagues when their backcourt is fully intact.

Chris Paul (sore right groin) is questionable to play Thursday vs. the Spurs.

Paul was able to get some shots up at Wednesday's practice, but with his long-term health being the primary focus in Houston, he could certainly sit again on Thursday if there's any doubt about his groin. We'll have a better idea on his status following Thursday morning's shootaround, but with Eric Gordon (back) also questionable and Trevor Ariza (hamstring) unlikely, James Harden could again see his usage in the 40s.
Jan 31 - 1:13 PM

Chris Paul (sore right groin) will not suit up for Tuesday's game against the Magic.

It's not all that surprising to see the Rockets' play it safe with a matchup against the 14-34 Magic, as holding CP3 out today will give him a full three days off ahead of Friday's game in San Antonio. Eric Gordon will slide back into the starting five with James Harden shifting over to the point, and with both Paul and Trevor Ariza (hamstring) unavailable, Harden's usage rate could go into the ridiculous range.
Jan 30 - 6:20 PM

James Harden (hamstring) is expected to return to the court for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves.

Assuming all goes well during Wednesday's practice, Harden should be able to get back to the court for Thursday night's game, which will queue Eric Gordon's return to the second unit. Gerald Green will also see a reduction in minutes with Harden back in action, so those that picked up Green during the hot streak should start perusing the waiver wire for other options.

James Harden (hamstring) has been upgraded to questionable for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves.

Mike D'Antoni said on Sunday that there was a chance Harden could make it back to the court for Thursday's game, although Monday's reported incident between the Clippers and the Rockets could complicate things. We're sure to get a few more updates on Harden leading up to Thursday's tip, but if he is able to get back out there, Eric Gordon would return to the bench and Gerald Green's value would take a hit. Stay tuned.
Jan 16 - 6:33 PM

Mike D'Antoni said that James Harden (hamstring) could return to the court for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves or Saturday's game vs. the Warriors.

It sounds like Harden will sit out Monday's game against the Clippers, but there's a good chance he'll be getting back out there next week, which could queue the end of Gerald Green's run as a fantasy relevant asset. Eric Gordon will return to the bench once Harden is able to get back out there, and Chris Paul's usage and assist rate will take a slight hit.
Jan 14 - 3:03 PM

James Harden (hamstring) was able to get up some shots at shootaround on Wednesday.

Head coach Mike D'Antoni said that Harden has looked "really good" as he continues his rehab from the Grade 2 hamstring strain, and members of Harden's camp have indicated that he could be back "soon, anytime next week," so maybe he'll return at the end of his initial two-week timetable. In the meantime, Chris Paul, Eric Gordon and Gerald Green will continue to pick up the slack in his absence.
Jan 10 - 12:28 PM

Trevor Ariza made 9-of-15 shot attempts with six 3-pointers during Sunday's double-OT victory, scoring a season-high 26 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Happy New Year! It's the fourth time all season that Ariza has scored 20+ points, and he did his damage in 45 minutes tonight. The veteran sharp-shooter could take on a bigger offensive workload if James Harden misses games -- Harden exited late in the fourth quarter after pulling his left hamstring. Gerald Green and Eric Gordon would also stand to gain without Harden, but it would take a complete team effort.
Jan 1 - 12:01 AM

James Harden exited late in the fourth quarter on Sunday with a left hamstring injury.

Harden came up limping after a drive and was grabbing the back of his left leg. He headed straight to the locker room, finishing with 40 points, 11 assists, two steals and two blocks in 41 minutes. He was already dealing with a bruised right foot, but that injury didn't seem to be a factor tonight -- all eyes will be on the health of his hamstring. Mike D'Antoni said the team isn't likely to assess Harden's injury until Monday, but we should have an update in the afternoon. If he misses time, Eric Gordon and Gerald Green stand to absorb most of his minutes.

Gerald Green played 27 minutes and hit 6-of-10 shots and four 3-pointers for 18 points, two rebounds and two steals in Friday's ugly loss to the Wizards.

This was Green's second game of the season and the first one he's scored in after being signed by the Rockets just after Christmas. He could eat into some of Eric Gordon's minutes, and Gordon was already in a little trouble with Chris Paul returning from his groin injury tonight. There was a lot of garbage time in this one, so we'll need to see Green do this again before getting excited. He failed to score in 11 minutes on Thursday night.

Chris Paul (adductor), who will not play on Thursday vs. Boston, could play as soon as Friday vs. Washington.

If CP3 remains sidelined on Friday, then Sunday vs. the Lakers is "probable," per head coach Mike D'Antoni. Paul has played just 16 of 33 possible games all season and has been out for over a week, so the short-handed Rockets would certainly welcome a quicker than expected return. When Paul is able to get back out there, Eric Gordon will return to the bench.

Chris Paul (adductor) will not play vs. the Thunder on Monday.

CP3 got in a vigorous warmup prior to the Christmas Day game, but ultimately the Rockets opted to play it safe. Mike D'Antoni recently said Paul is "not too far away," but added that CP3 won't play in both of the Rockets' back-to-back games on Thursday (vs. the Celtics) and Friday (vs. the Wizards). Eric Gordon will continue to log heavy minutes as a starter in his absence.

Chris Paul (groin) is doubtful to play on Christmas Day in Oklahoma City, but coach Mike D'Antoni said he's "not too far away."

Groin injuries can be tricky, and the doubtful tag suggests that the Rockets are leaning towards playing it safe with their 32-year-old point guard, but owners can expect to get another update following Monday morning's shootaround. If CP3 is forced to spend his second straight game on the sidelines, Eric Gordon would have another opportunity to start and James Harden would continue to be ridiculous.
Sun, Dec 24, 2017 05:56:00 PM

Mike D'Antoni said he expects Chris Paul (knee) to start on Thursday against the Suns.

D'Antoni added that he'll likely have CP3 on a 20-minute limit, but barring a setback, it looks as though Paul will be back in action on Thursday night with Eric Gordon heading back to the second unit. Paul didn't play all that well in his lone game this season, and there are some concerns about how he'll be able to mesh with James Harden, but the two guards are simply too talented to not figure this thing out.
Wed, Nov 15, 2017 01:23:00 PM

Coach Mike D'Antoni said that he expects Chris Paul (knee) back "in a week or so."

Paul has been targeting mid-November, so this update is in line with those initial projections. The Rockets have been playing exceptionally well without CP3 (their 9-3 record is tied with the Warriors for the top spot in the West), so there is certainly no need to rush Paul back. Houston has the luxury of waiting until CP3 is as close to 100 percent as possible before inserting him into the starting lineup. We should get a more thorough update from D'Antoni early next week.
Fri, Nov 10, 2017 09:37:00 AM

Chris Paul (bruised left knee) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Kings.

This is not surprising at all considering head coach Mike D'Antoni said that CP3 was "playing on one leg" during Tuesday's season opener, so we doubt he'll take the floor tonight with a matchup against a team that the Rockets should be able to beat without his services. Assuming Paul watches Wednesday's game from the sidelines, James Harden will likely shift back over to the one, with Eric Gordon starting at the two-spot.
Wed, Oct 18, 2017 01:44:00 PM

Ryan Anderson said he expects to come off the bench for Game 5 in San Antonio on Tuesday with Nene (groin) unavailable.

It sounds like Eric Gordon will move into the starting five for Tuesday's Game 5 with Trevor Ariza sliding over to the four-spot, but Anderson should still get a good amount of minutes with the second unit as he helps man the center spot with Clint Capela. Check back for official confirmation on Houston's lineup closer to tip-off on Tuesday.

Trevor Ariza scored 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting in Monday's Game 1 win over the Spurs.

Ariza struggled in the previous round with 6.2 points per game on 34.4 percent shooting, but snapped out of his funk in a big way tonight. He grabbed four rebounds with two assists, two steals and five triples, helping the Rockets set a new franchise record with 22 3-pointers made on 50 attempts. Eric Gordon added 11 points and three triples off the bench, Ryan Anderson had 14 points and four triples and Lou Williams had 13 points and a pair of 3-pointers.
Tue, May 2, 2017 12:46:00 AM

Lou Williams hit 7-of-14 shots and two 3-pointers for 22 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 33 minutes of Tuesday's Game 5 win over the Thunder.

Williams stepped up, while Ryan Anderson (1-of-6, 2 points), Trevor Ariza (1-of-6, 2 points) and Eric Gordon (3-of-10, 8 points) all struggled tonight. It will be some combination of these guys getting it done for the Rockets in Round 2 of the playoffs, but trying to figure out which Rocket not named James Harden is going to step up each night will be next to impossible, just as it was all season long.
Tue, Apr 25, 2017 11:04:00 PM

James Harden went 18-of-20 from the FT line and 7-of-17 from the field to finish Houston's Game 2 victory with 35 points, eight assists, four rebounds and one steal.

The showdown between Harden and fellow MVP candidate Russell Westbrook was as-advertised tonight. Westbrook scored 51 points while posting yet another triple-double, and Harden's big line was bolstered by super-subs Lou Williams (21 points) and Eric Gordon (22 points). Patrick Beverley was also terrific, notching 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, six boards, four assists, two 3-pointers and one steal in 34 minutes. The Rockets are a handful, to say the least.
