Coach Mike Malone said Paul Millsap (wrist) could be back in early-mid March.
It did sound like maybe he could have his power forward back later this month, but that's apparently not the case. Millsap is progressing right now and he's been using both of his hands in on-court work, including even more work on Wednesday. He obviously needs to he added in all leagues while Mason Plumlee (calf), Trey Lyles and Wilson Chandler will take hits. Feb 7 - 2:34 PM

Trey Lyles had another efficient night on Monday with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes.

Lyles said his confidence is at an "all-time high," which isn't surprising considering he's averaging 17.4 points on 57.6% shooting over the past month. When coach Mike Malone was asked about Lyles' meticulous pre-game shooting routines, he replied, "The level he’s playing at right now — whatever you’re doing, Trey, keep on doing it." Lyles' fantasy owners must feel the same, as he's cruising with mid-round value in Paul Millsap's absence.

Trey Lyles double-doubled in 27 minutes on Wednesday, scoring 16 points with 11 rebounds.

Lyles went 5-of-11 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line, with two 3-pointers one assist and two turnovers. He's been a terrific addition for those owners who snagged him off the waiver wire, and is coming off December averages of 14.7 points on 54.0% shooting, 2.1 triples, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.4 blocks. He shows no signs of cooling off, and his role is safe until Paul Millsap (wrist) returns, so keep rolling him out there.
Jan 4 - 2:15 AM

Will Barton started for the Nuggets on Monday and hit 9-of-15 shots and five 3-pointers for 25 points, six rebounds and five assists in Monday's 114-98 win over the Kings.

Barton had a four-point dud on Friday, but has been very good for most of the season. He's averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.4 3-pointers on 53 percent shooting over his last five games. With Paul Millsap and Wilson Chandler hurting right now, Barton looks like a must-own player.

Kenneth Faried started in place of Paul Millsap (wrist) on Monday, but hit just 1-of-7 shots for six points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block and was pulled after just 19 minutes.

So much for that. It's possible Faried continues to start if Millsap's wrist keeps him out, but after this one, he's going to be very hard to trust. He's only worth a DFS punt at this point, and even that move backfired tonight.

Will Barton started the second half of Sunday's game in place of Paul Millsap (wrist), finishing with 12 points, five rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes.

Millsap had X-rays on his wrist and the results haven't been announced, but either way Barton should already be owned. He's quietly racking up mid-round value (8-cat and 9-cat) in under 30 minutes per game, which should be sustainable all season.

Trey Lyles took advantage of expanded minutes with Paul Millsap (wrist) leaving early on Sunday, posting 10 points, eight rebounds and one 3-pointer in 16 minutes.

Lyles has scored more than five points just twice this season, but he'd be worth a speculative pickup if Millsap is ruled out for an extended period. To be clear, Millsap is just day-to-day as we await test results, so there's no immediate value to be found here.

Juan Hernangomez chipped in 18 points, four rebounds and two assists during Wednesday's win vs. the Lakers, making 7-of-11 shots with four 3-pointers.

Denver rested four starters tonight with various minor injuries, including Wilson Chandler and Paul Millsap. That allowed guys like Hernangomez and Trey Lyles (12 points in 24 minutes) to step into the starting lineup, but this doesn't have long-term repercussions.

Wilson Chandler (sore right hip), Paul Millsap (rest), Nikola Jokic (right elbow sprain) and Gary Harris (right shoulder strain) will not play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Lakers.

Chandler was forced to miss the entire 2015-16 season after undergoing right hip surgery, so the Nuggets are wise to play it safe with him with even the smallest flare-ups during the preseason. This is the first we're hearing about any injuries for Harris and Jokic, but for now, we'll assume their absence from Wednesday's meaningless game is more precautionary than anything else. Chandler should be ready once the regular season begins, and he's worth a late-round pick.

Kenneth Faried said that although he'd like to be a starter for the Nuggets, he's also comfortable coming off the bench.

"I’m a competitor so I’m going to want to fight to be in the [starting] five," Faried said. "We’re going to have good battles at practice if I come off the bench. When I come off the bench I’m going to still play hard and care because at the end of the day it’s about the team." With Paul Millsap in Denver it will be hard for Faried, who is often mentioned in trade rumors, to exceed the 21.2 minutes he averaged last season.

Hawks sign F John Collins.

Collins, the No. 19 overall pick in the 2017 draft, could very well be in the mix for minutes in his rookie season given Atlanta's decision to rebuild. If Paul Millsap bolts in free agency, Atlanta is looking at Collins and Miles Plumlee as their current depth down low. That's not what we'd call ideal, folks.

Markieff Morris picked up two quick fouls on Wednesday, finishing a 109-101 win vs. the Hawks with three points, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks in just 20 minutes.

Morris had a minor issue with his shoes early, but the fouls were his real undoing tonight. He has a brewing feud with Paul Millsap, who said the Wizards were "playing MMA" during Game 1, and the refs were definitely quicker to call fouls tonight. Morris gave no indication that he'll temper his physical style, saying, "I’m just going headfirst every play ... if we’re gonna jostle the whole series then that’s what it’s going to be." Game on.

Mike Budenholzer said he has no intention of altering his starting lineup for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Wizards.

It sounds like the Hawks will again go with their standard starting group of Dennis Schroder, Tim Hardaway Jr., Taurean Prince, Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard for Game 2, with Kent Bazemore coming off the bench. Hardaway Jr. struggled with his shot during Atlanta's Game 1 loss, connecting on just 2 of his 11 shot attempts, so he'll need to be much better on Wednesday night for the Hawks to have a chance of stealing a game on the road.

Dwight Howard (rest) will not suit up for Wednesday's game against the Pacers.

Ersan Ilyasova, Kris Humphries and Mike Muscala will pick up the big man minutes for Atlanta tonight with Paul Millsap (rest) and Howard on the sidelines, with Ilyasova and Humphries likely to start. All three of these guys have some appeal in daily leagues, with Ilyasova being slightly more attractive option.

Kent Bazemore (knee), Malcolm Delaney (back) and Paul Millsap (rest, knee) are probable to play Tuesday vs. Charlotte.

Bazemore's knee was a complete non-issue during Sunday's win over the Cavs, so there's no reason to expect him to miss Tuesday's game. Millsap could be rested during Atlanta's upcoming back-to-back set, but it looks as though he'll be in the clear for Tuesday night. Delaney should good to go, but his minutes will be confined to the teens with Dennis Schroder healthy.
Mon, Apr 10, 2017 05:19:00 PM

Dwight Howard (rest) is in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Cavs.

Howard was rested on Friday, but he'll be back in action without any sort of restrictions today, so feel free to get him active. Joining D12 in the starting five will be Dennis Schroder, Tim Hardawar Jr., Taurean Prince and Paul Millsap.

Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) vanished on Sunday with Paul Millsap active, scoring just four points with two assists, one steal and one block in 20 minutes.

Ersan started again but that's not going to last much longer. He played well as a reserve once he joined the Hawks, but takes an inevitable hit now that Millsap is healthy. Give him a few more games if your waiver wire is barren, but don't hold onto him at the expense of a higher-upside FA.

Kent Bazemore (knee) and Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) will play Sunday vs. the Nets, as expected.

Both these guys were probable, so it's not surprising at all to see them active. Bazemore has been hit-or-miss this season, but the odds are in his favor of having a productive game today with a matchup against Brooklyn. Ilyasova will start, but his minutes could take a hit with Paul Millsap (knee) back in the rotation.

Ersan Ilyasova (ankle) will play vs. Brooklyn on Sunday.

Paul Millsap is returning from a knee injury today but he'll come off the bench, as the Hawks will likely limit his minutes as a precaution. Ilyasova was effective even as a reserve with Atlanta, so Millsap's return doesn't necessarily make him a cut.
Sun, Apr 2, 2017 05:12:00 PM

Ersan Ilyasova struggled vs. the Wizards on Wednesday, playing 26 minutes to finish with five points on 2-of-8 shooting, eight rebounds, two assists, one steals and one block.

The rebounds and defensive stats help salvage the line, and he could have played more minutes if it weren't for foul trouble. Paul Millsap (knee) missed his third straight game and there are no guarantees that he'll return for Friday's road game, so Ilyasova might have another start coming his way this week. Even if he does shift to the bench, he's proven to be a decent fantasy asset with the Hawks' reserves.
Wed, Mar 22, 2017 11:34:00 PM

The 76ers are finalizing a trade that will send Ersan Ilyasova to Atlanta in exchange for Tiago Splitter and two second-round picks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Sixers are expected to receive one second-round pick, while swapping another one. The Hawks are buyers at the deadline and Ilyasova gives them some welcome frontcourt depth, adding a stretch-PF behind Paul Millsap, but his fantasy value takes a hit with the move. If your waiver wire is barren he might be worth holding, to see how the rotation plays out, but the trade deadline is likely to create many more intriguing rest-of-season pickups.
