A fourth-round pick by the Saints in 2010, Woods had just two tackles in two games with Seattle.

Seahawks claimed DT Al Woods off waivers from the Buccaneers.
A talented underachiever at LSU, Woods recorded 17 tackles in nine games as a rookie last season. He'll compete with Landon Cohen to be Seattle's fourth defensive tackle behind Brandon Mebane, Alan Branch, and Clint McDonald.

Bucs signed DT Al Woods from the Steelers' practice squad.
Woods was a talented underachiever at LSU before the Saints drafted him in the fourth round this past April. He'll add interior depth with rookie Brian Price out for the season.

Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Tuesday the Steelers expect Rashard Mendenhall (torn ACL) to play in 2012, but conceded he may begin the year on the PUP list.
In reality, Mendenhall is a near certainty to begin the year on the PUP list after tearing his ACL in Week 17 last season. Tomlin and GM Kevin Colbert are both now on the record as expecting their running back to play this season, but it's far from a slam dunk. Mendenhall is off the radar in redraft leagues.

Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer (broken foot) says his recovery is going well, but that he won't be running full speed until June.
Dwyer appeared in only seven games last season, racking up 16 carries. The former sixth-round pick mentioned that he'll be spending July training in Orlando with Tom Shaw, which is a good sign considering his weight issues. With Rashard Mendenhall likely to miss, at least, the first half of the 2012 season, this will be Dwyer's best shot at earning significant playing time in the NFL.

Steelers RB Baron Batch (ACL surgery) will not practice with rookies and first-year players at minicamp on Friday.
Now nine months removed from surgery, Batch is eligible to practice but is apparently not ready to do so. It's possible the 2011 seventh-rounder suffered a recent setback, as he indicated in late March that he was cleared for all offseason workouts.

Suspended
NFL suspended TE Weslye Saunders four games for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances.
Saunders' resume was a red flag-filled mess coming out of South Carolina last year, and was ultimately the reason he went undrafted. He's now in trouble again. An oft-used blocker after making the Steelers out of training camp, Saunders played about 15 snaps a game and held his own in pass protection. The 23-year-old only caught four passes for 29 yards and a touchdown.
