The St. Louis Post-Dispatch disputes reports that Steven Jackson is dissatisfied with his contract and could be traded or released.
Team officials are unaware of any contract request by Jackson, who was reportedly "taken aback" by reports that he could be released or dealt if the Rams drafted Trent Richardson. Due to earn $7 million in each of the next two seasons, S-Jax is content with his contract, but would also be open to an extension to finish his career in St. Louis. The Rams would only trade up for Richardson if the cost in draft picks is lower than expected. Even then, they would likely keep both backs on the roster, as salary cap space is not an issue.

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi stated on Monday's B.S. Report with Bill Simmons that Steven Jackson wants a new contract.
S-Jax has base salaries of $7 million in 2012 and 2013. "The problem with Steven Jackson is he wants to redo his contract," Lombardi said. "He's not happy where he is. ... I would suspect that the Rams would (draft) the running back as quickly as they could." He was referring to Trent Richardson. Lombardi indicates that the Vikings are trying to bait the Rams to trade up to No. 3 to get Richardson. S-Jax, meanwhile, looks like a candidate to be traded on draft weekend.

SI's Peter King believes the Rams would "presumably" either trade or release Steven Jackson if they selected Alabama RB Trent Richardson with the No. 6 pick.
King rightly assumes the Rams would view the soon-to-be 29-year-old Jackson's $7 million salary as prohibitive if they used their first-round pick on a runner. However, King also believes the Rams would lean toward Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon if both he and Richardson were still on the board, and that Richardson is unlikely to make it past both Cleveland at No. 4 and Tampa Bay at No. 5. Unless the Rams trade up, the odds are low S-Jax will be wearing a different uniform come Week 1.

Steven Jackson considers Jeff Fisher the "perfect coach" for the bruising tailback's mentality and talents.
The easy comparison is to Eddie George, in that he and S-Jax are perhaps the most mentally and physically tough running backs of the past 15 years. Jackson is more talented with a broader skill-set than George, but Fisher is getting his hands on him in the decline phase of his career. Jackson's biggest need is a massive upgrade on an offensive line described as "easily intimidated."

Suspended
NFL suspended Rams rookie WR Austin Pettis four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Barring a successful appeal, the Rams' third-round pick will be suspended for the final two games of this season and the first two of 2012. St. Louis' starting slot receiver since Greg Salas went down Week 9, Pettis has averaged just 2.6 catches for 27.6 yards in six games. St. Louis doesn't have an obvious candidate to man the slot in Weeks 16 and 17, but it's possible KR Nick Miller could get a look. With both Danny Amendola and Salas expected to be 100 percent healthy for 2012 training camp, there's little reason to hold onto Pettis in dynasty leagues.

Hoomanawanui suffered the injury in mid-November. Assuming he takes the normal recovery path, he should be getting close to 100 percent just as training camp opens.
