Rick Ankiel went 3-for-3 with a solo home run in a 2-0 win over the Marlins on Friday.

Ankiel was the star of the show, recording all but one of his team’s hits. He also scored every run for either side in the game. The solo blast off of Carlos Zambrano in the third inning was Ankiel’s first of the season. Ramos also confirmed to reporters that he has no chance of returning this season. Leon suffered the injury just four innings into his major league debut Monday when he was involved in a collision with Padres' third baseman Chase Headley at home plate. The timetable for his return isn't clear, but he isn't eligible to come off the disabled list until mid-July. Marrero was already rehabbing a torn left hamstring, but the shoulder injury means he might not be ready to play again for another month or two. The 23-year-old batted .248/.274/.294 with five doubles and 10 RBI in 117 plate appearances for the Nationals down the stretch last season. May 10

Nationals manager Davey Johnson indicated Monday that because Jayson Werth had surgery so quickly after suffering a broken left wrist, he might be able to cut three weeks off his recovery time. Werth was told the news by the doctor who operated on his wrist at the Mayo Clinic. The timetable was originally estimated to be around 12 weeks, but there's now a chance that he could return to action in late July or early August. There's still a long way to go, but it's about time the Nationals got some good news on the injury front. May 14

Wang is nearing the end of his 30-day rehab window, so the Nationals want to take a look at his progress. He allowed four runs over eight innings Monday with Triple-A Syracuse and is slated to make one more rehab start before coming off the disabled list. Ross Detwiler's early success may make it difficult for him to claim a rotation spot right away. The 32-year-old right-hander has drawn some trade interest. May 16
