Nationals reassigned INF Mark Teahen to minor league camp; optioned C Jhonatan Solano and 1B Tyler Moore to Triple-A Syracuse.
Teahen was released from the Blue Jays over the winter after batting just .200/.273/.300 with four homers and 14 RBI across 177 plate appearances in 2011. He signed a minor league pact with Washington but failed to claim a utility job. Solano is known as a solid defender and he could be summoned down the line. The 25-year-old Moore has slugged 62 homers over the past two seasons between High-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg and was recently ranked as the Nationals' No. 16 prospect by Baseball America.

Nationals signed INF Mark Teahen to a minor league contract.
Teahen was released from the Blue Jays last month after batting just .200/.273/.300 with four homers and 14 RBI across 177 plate appearances in 2011. He will get a crack at claiming a utility spot in Nats camp this spring.

Acquired in a three-way trade with the White Sox and Cardinals last July, the 30-year-old batted just .200/.273/.300 with four homers and 14 RBI across 177 plate appearances in 2011. The Jays are on the hook for his $5.5 million salary in 2012.

Wilson Ramos said Wednesday that he expects to undergo surgery to repair his torn right ACL in 2-3 weeks.
Ramos also confirmed to reporters that he has no chance of returning this season. Jesus Flores has taken over as the Nationals' starting catcher and deserves to be owned in mixed fantasy leagues with spots for two backstops. Ramos batted .265/.354/.398 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 25 games this season.

Nationals placed C Sandy Leon on the 60-day disabled list with a high right ankle sprain.
Leon suffered the injury just four innings into his major league debut Monday when he was involved in a collision with Padres' third baseman Chase Headley at home plate. The timetable for his return isn't clear, but he isn't eligible to come off the disabled list until mid-July. Carlos Maldonado has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse to take his place on the active roster.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Thursday that Chris Marrero had a setback with his shoulder.
Marrero was already rehabbing a torn left hamstring, but the shoulder injury means he might not be ready to play again for another month or two. The 23-year-old batted .248/.274/.294 with five doubles and 10 RBI in 117 plate appearances for the Nationals down the stretch last season.

Mark DeRosa (oblique) is scheduled to start throwing on flat ground Wednesday.
DeRosa has been sidelined since late April with an oblique strain. He hopes to start hitting by the end of the week and could be cleared to go out on a minor league rehab assignment from there.

Michael Morse (lat) made 60 throws Wednesday.
It was the first time Morse had picked up a baseball in several weeks. "I haven't been throwing, so it was kind of like a monkey riding a bike," he told reporters after the workout. Morse is aiming to make his 2012 regular-season debut in early June.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson indicated Monday that because Jayson Werth had surgery so quickly after suffering a broken left wrist, he might be able to cut three weeks off his recovery time.
Werth was told the news by the doctor who operated on his wrist at the Mayo Clinic. The timetable was originally estimated to be around 12 weeks, but there's now a chance that he could return to action in late July or early August. There's still a long way to go, but it's about time the Nationals got some good news on the injury front.

Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) will throw in front of coaches Wednesday at Nationals Park.
Wang is nearing the end of his 30-day rehab window, so the Nationals want to take a look at his progress. He allowed four runs over eight innings Monday with Triple-A Syracuse and is slated to make one more rehab start before coming off the disabled list. Ross Detwiler's early success may make it difficult for him to claim a rotation spot right away. The 32-year-old right-hander has drawn some trade interest.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said that Drew Storen (elbow) threw Monday and "felt great."
Storen is currently working his way back from minor surgery on his right elbow in early April. Johnson previously said that the young right-hander could begin a minor league rehab assignment later this month, so he could potentially return in the early part of June. Despite his recent hiccups, Henry Rodriguez will continue to handle save chances for now.

Brad Lidge threw off flat ground Monday for the first time since undergoing hernia surgery on May 1.
Lidge will likely need a minor league rehab assignment before coming off the disabled list, so he's currently aiming to return in the second or third week of June. Henry Rodriguez has been inconsistent this season, but he should continue to hold down the closer role for now.

Kimball underwent major shoulder surgery last July and is not expected to be ready for live action until right around the All-Star break this year. The 26-year-old right-hander will likely be stationed at Triple-A Syracuse once he returns to full health.
