Jake Guentzel notched three goals on a team-high seven shots with a minor penalty and two hits in Saturday's 7-4 road victory against the Anaheim Ducks.

Guentzel posted the second regular-season hat trick of his career, and he also has two in the playoffs. Those four hatties have him tied for third place on the franchise's all-time list for players in their first three NHL seasons. The Omaha kid has managed five goals with eight points during his five-game point streak in the month of January.

Phil Kessel picked up the game-winning tally in overtime Friday night against the Arizona Coyotes.

Kessel has picked up two goals with five points on the four-game road trip, including a pair of game-winning tallies. It hasn't been all great, however, as he has a minus-6 rating during the span, and he is even or negative in the category in all eight of his games in the month of January. Next up is a battle against the Golden Knights in Vegas on Saturday. He had a hat trick in the first battle with the Knights back on Oct. 11 in the Steel City.
Jan 19 - 2:04 AM

Sam Bennett picked up a pair of power-play goals with an assist in his 11:31 of ice time in Friday's 6-4 home victory against the Red Wings.

Bennett's second power-play marker stood up as the game-winning tally. The game winner was his first of the season, and he has managed nine goals with 19 points overall. He has enjoying his hottest stretch of the season, posting three goals with six points over the past seven outings. While he is still only worth using in the deepest of fantasy pools, he is a nice low-cost DFS option while running hot.

Mark Stone found the back of the net in Friday's 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Stone's goal at the 7:39 mark of the second period gave the Senators a 3-0 lead at the time. He finished the game with a plus-2 rating and one shot on goal in 20:13 of ice time. The Sens forward has now scored in back-to-back games. The 26-year-old has 22 goals and 50 points in 48 games this season. He continues to be an excellent fantasy option in all fantasy formats. Magnus Paajarvi, Bobby Ryan and Christian Wolanin also scored for the Senators on Friday night.
Jan 18 - 10:46 PM

Thomas Greiss turned aside all 19 shots he faced in Friday's 2-0 win over the Washington Capitals.

The Islanders and Capitals were tied at zero through two periods, but goals by Josh Bailey and Cal Clutterbuck put New York in front. The victory allowed the Islanders to climb into first place in the Metropolitan Division. Greiss has now given up just one goal in his last two games. He has a 14-8-1 record with a 2.50 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage this season.
Jan 18 - 10:37 PM

Tomas Tatar scored a pair of goals in Friday's 4-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The goals put an end to his 10-game goal drought. Tatar opened the scoring at the 6:44 mark of the first period. The Canadiens went 17:38 between their last shot of the first period and their first shot of the second frame, but that first shot was Tatar's second goal of the night. He finished the game with a plus-2 rating and three shots on goal in 17:05 of ice time. The 28-year-old now has 16 goals and 36 points in 49 games this season. Those are impressive totals considering he had just 34 points in 82 games in 2017-18.

Mike Hoffman scored a goal in Friday's 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hoffman tipped a Keith Yandle point shot at the 9:02 mark of the first period. That goal ended up tying the game, 1-1. Mike Matheson scored the game-winner, while Frank Vatrano added an empty-netter. Hoffman finished the game with three shots on goal and one hit in 14:25 of ice time. The 29-year-old has scored in back-to-back games and in three of his last four outings. Hoffman has 23 goals and 42 points in 46 games this season.

Jan 18 - 5:39 PM

Ryan Johansen has received a two-game suspension for high-sticking Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele.

Johansen will miss Saturday's and Monday's games as a result. His argument that he wasn't intentionally attempting to strike Scheifele, however, the NHL still feels that Johansen still brought his stick down in a "reckless and irresponsible manner" and the result was that Johansen struck Scheifele in the neck/head. Johansen didn't previously have a history of supplemental discipline.

Elias Pettersson (knee) will miss Friday's contest.

Jan 18 - 4:13 PM

Petr Mrazek will play between the pipes on Friday.

That's not surprising given that Curtis McElhinney is recovering from a knee injury. Alex Nedeljkovic will serve as the backup goaltender.
