John Carlson will miss Friday's game with a lower-body injury.

It's not clear how much time Carlson might miss beyond Friday's contest, but he hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game yet. He's averaging 26:00 minutes per game, so this is naturally a huge blow to the Capitals. Matt Niskanen will play on the point in the top power-play unit due to Carlson's absence.
Nov 9 - 12:15 PM

Drake Batherson skated alongside Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel at practice on Tuesday.

Batherson, who was just named the AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 11, has been productive in the minors with 20 points in 14 contests. It looks like he will get a chance to succeed right off the bat in the team's top-six forward group.
Nov 13 - 11:40 AM

Tom Wilson's 20-game suspension has been reduced to 14 games by a neutral arbitrator.

Wilson has already served 16 games, so he won't be able to just serve 14, but he'll recuperate the salary from the last two games he missed. The Capitals forward was suspended for an illegal check to the head of St. Louis' Oskar Sundqvist during the preseason, and his team has missed him pretty badly. Don't be surprised if he lines up with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin in the near future. It's unclear if he'll play tonight against the Minnesota Wild, but don't be surprised if he does.
Nov 13 - 11:23 AM

Sam Reinhart will get to start Tuesday's contest on the top line with Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner.

The trio was put together in the third period of Saturday's comeback win over Vancouver and they posted two late goals. The line remained intact for Monday's practice. That bumps Jason Pominville to a combination with Evan Rodrigues and Vladimir Sobotka.
Nov 13 - 10:52 AM

Nico Hischier will not suit up in Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Hischier suffered an upper-body injury during Sunday's loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The 19-year-old is considered day-to-day at this time. He has three goals and 12 points in 15 games this season.
Nov 13 - 10:38 AM

David Pastrnak earned the first star of the week for the period ending Nov. 11.

Pastrnak led the league with five goals and he added two assists in four games. He posted his third career hat trick and currently leads the NHL with 16 goals in 17 matches.

Cam Atkinson scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars.

Atkinson opened the scoring with a power-play marker at the 1:29 mark of the second period and he also registered the primary assist on Pierre-Luc Dubois' go-ahead goal at the midway point of the third frame. Atkinson finished the night with a plus-1 rating, four shots on goal and one blocked shot in 19:51 of ice time. After going five games without a point, Atkinson has now accumulated three in his last two games. He's up to eight goals and 14 points in 17 games this season. Three of his eight goals have come on the power play.
Nov 12 - 11:34 PM

Sebastian Aho scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Hurricanes found themselves down 2-0 in the second period, but that's when Aho helped set up a power-play goal by Teuvo Teravainen. Micheal Ferland then added a goal on the man-advantage just over one minute later to tie the game at two. Aho then added the game-winner at the 1:16 mark of overtime to give his team the win. Aho finished the night with a plus-1 rating, five shots on goal and three hits in 16:26 of ice time. The 21-year-old has accumulated five points in his last three games, and five goals and 22 points in 18 games this season. He's a must-start in all fantasy formats.
Nov 12 - 10:12 PM

Brett Howden found the back of the net during Monday's 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

With the score tied at one in the third frame, Howden managed to whip a shot past Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom. Howden finished the night with a plus-1 rating and two shots on goal and one takeaway in 16:59 of ice time. The 20-year-old is putting together a strong rookie season, as he's already accumulated four goals and 10 points in 17 contests. Howden isn't worth owning in standard fantasy leagues, but he definitely has a bright future ahead of him. Filip Chytil also scored for the Rangers in the win.
Nov 12 - 9:57 PM

Ondrej Kase (concussion) will suit up in Monday's game against the Nashville Predators.

Kase missed the first 18 games of the season, but he'll make his regular-season debut tonight. He'll skate on a line with Adam Henrique and Nick Ritchie. Kase had 20 goals and 38 points in 66 games last season.
Nov 12 - 9:47 PM

Patrick Eaves (upper body) won't play in Monday's game against the Nashville Predators.

The Ducks made the announcement via their Twitter account right before the pre-game warmup. Eaves is considered day-to-day at this point, and it's unclear if this injury is connected to the shoulder injury that forced him to miss the first 13 games of the season.
Nov 12 - 9:34 PM

Brett Ritchie (upper body) appears ready to return on Monday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Ritchie hit the ice for warmups and is in the official roster report provided by the NHL. He missed the last four games.
