The Montreal Canadiens have traded Max Pacioretty to the Vegas Golden Knights for Tomas Tatar, Nick Suzuki and a second round pick in 2019.

This is no surprise although the destination may be. Pacioretty had a terrible season in 2017-18 with only 17 goals and 37 points in 64 games after scoring at least 30 goals in each of the previous four seasons. Look for Pacioretty to get a new lease on life in the desert and away from the pressure of playing in Montreal. A return to 30-plus goals is in the cards for the left winger as well as 60-plus points. Draft him accordingly.

T.J. Oshie (upper body) will miss Friday's game.

Oshie appeared to be woozy after a hit he absorbed from Josh Morrissey on Wednesday. Oshie has nine goals and 14 points in 18 contests in 2018-19.
Nov 16 - 2:01 PM

Evgeny Kuznetsov (upper body) won't play on Friday.

Kuznetsov is being listed as day-to-day. He was hurt during Wednesday's game. He has six goals and 21 points in 18 games this season.
Nov 16 - 1:59 PM

Brian Elliott is expected to be out for the next two weeks.

Elliott sustained the injury on Thursday and couldn't complete the contest as a result. Michal Neuvirth is also sidelined, so Alex Lyon and Calvin Pickard will have to serve as the Flyers' goalies for now.
Nov 16 - 12:49 PM

John Klingberg (hand) will be out for a minimum of five weeks.

It sounds like we shouldn't count on Klingberg being back in five weeks though. Stars coach Jim Montgomery said that if he was offered today a guarantee that Klingberg would miss six weeks, he'd "take the deal right now." Klingberg is a huge part of the Stars' defense, so this is naturally a major blow.
Nov 16 - 12:26 PM

Laurent Brossoit will get the nod on Friday versus Buffalo.

This will be Brossoit's first start since Oct. 26 when he stopped 27 of 28 shots in a win over Detroit. He has a 3-0-0 record this year with a 1.68 goals-against average and .957 save percentage.
Nov 16 - 11:46 AM

Philipp Grubauer will start Friday against Washington.

Grubauer last played on Nov. 2 when he was thrashed for seven goals on 37 shots by Vancouver, so he will be seeking a bounce-back performance. He owns a mark of 3-1-1 this season with a 3.55 goals-against average and .893 save percentage.

Kasperi Kapanen scored twice, including the game-winning goal, in a 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night.

Kapanen went pointless in four previous games before scoring twice against the Sharks Thursday night. The Leafs also got goals from Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and Josh Leivo.
Nov 16 - 1:37 AM

Joe Pavelski scored a goal and an assist in a 5-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night.

Pavelski extended his points streak to three games despite the loss (4g, 3a). The captain scored a power play goal to tie the game in the first period before assisting on Marc-Edouard Vlasic's first of the season.

Zdeno Chara has gone back to Boston to have his leg injury re-evaluated by doctors.

Chara's left leg appeared to buckle when he collided with Colorado's Carl Soderberg during the first period of Wednesday's 6-3 loss. Boston is already missing defensemen Brandon Carlo (upper body), Charlie McAvoy (concussion), Kevan Miller (hand) and Urho Vaakanainen (concussion) with a meeting against Dallas on Friday. Chara is out indefinitely for now, but a better idea of his status may come following his return to Boston.
