The Winnipeg Jets have signed Blake Wheeler to a five-year contract extension.

The extension will kick in after the 2018-19 season and be worth $41.25 million over the five seasons. Wheeler had the best year of his career in 2017-18 as he had 68 assists and 91 points for a dynamic Winnipeg team. The just turned 32-year-old will likely line up on the first line with Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor as well as play the first power play. He should go in the second or third round in most drafts. Look for a slight dip in his stats but an 80-85 point season is still worthy of a high pick.
