Mark Stone (lower body) will make his return on Saturday.

It will be Stone's first game since Jan. 20. He has 18 goals and 44 points in 44 contests this season. Getting Stone back is naturally great news for Ottawa and it comes at a time when the Senators are starting to do better as they've won four of their last five games.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is projected to play alongside Connor McDavid and Jesse Puljujarvi on Tuesday night versus Detroit.

Nugent-Hopkins has been productive this season when he's played away from McDavid as well, but this makes him a solid play in daily fantasy formats as well. He has generated 15 points in the last 14 contests.
Jan 22 - 1:02 PM

Washington hasn't decided yet if Alex Ovechkin will miss Wednesday's game against Toronto.

Ovechkin will travel with the team to Toronto for the contest, but a decision has to be made if he will sit out Wednesday or on Feb. 1 against Calgary. He has to serve a one-game suspension for choosing to miss the All-Star Game. Ovechkin will be in the lineup on Tuesday night versus San Jose, though.
Jan 22 - 12:39 PM

Evgeny Kuznetsov will be back on the second line on Tuesday night.

Kuznetsov, who had been playing on the third unit lately, is slated to play between Jakub Vrana and Tom Wilson against San Jose, while Lars Eller will head to the third combination.
Jan 22 - 12:08 PM

Cam Ward will be in goal for Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders.

Ward surrendered six goals on 25 shots to New Jersey on Jan. 14 in his last outing. He has a 7-8-4 record this season with a 3.99 goals-against average and .884 save percentage.
Jan 22 - 11:57 AM

The Minnesota Wild have acquired Brad Hunt and a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft from the Vegas Golden Knights for a conditional fifth-round draft pick in 2019.

Hunt has been a healthy scratch in all but four of Vegas' last 33 contests. The 30-year-old has two goals and five assists in 13 games this season. He's been able to put up a decent amount of points at the pro level, but not many teams seem to trust his defensive ability.
Jan 21 - 11:24 PM

Timo Meier scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Florida Panthers.

Meier helped set up Logan Couture's game-tying goal in the second frame, before adding a game-tying goal of his own later on in the period. Meier finished the night with an even rating, two penalty minutes and two shots on goal in 15:27 of ice time. The 22-year-old has three points in his last two games. He's up to 19 goals and 44 points in 48 games this season.
Jan 21 - 10:01 PM

Frank Vatrano scored a goal and three helpers in Monday's 6-2 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Vatrano assisted on goals by Aaron Ekblad, Mike Matheson and Vincent Trocheck. His third-period goal gave the Panthers a 5-2 lead at the time. He finished the night with a plus-2 rating and five shots on goal in 13:30 of ice time. The 24-year-old now has at least one point in three straight games and he's picked up nine points in his last seven. He has 16 goals and 26 points in 47 games this season.
Jan 21 - 9:59 PM

Eric Staal scored a goal and an assist in Monday's 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Staal gave the Wild a 2-1 lead at the 10:22 mark of the second period. He also picked up an assist in Charlie Coyle's third-period marker. Staal finished the game with a plus-2 rating, two shots on goal and two hits in 18:36 of ice time. The 34-year-old has picked up six points in his last six games. He's up to 15 goals and 33 points in 48 games this season. Marcus Foligno and Mikko Koivu also scored for the Wild on Monday night.
Jan 21 - 9:10 PM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (wrist) won't play Monday night.

Vlasic was considered to be an option when head coach Peter DeBoer met with the media earlier today, but he won't be back yet. The Sharks are back in action tomorrow night in Washington and the veteran blueliner will have another chance to suit up then. San Jose pulling him off of injured reserve will be the biggest sign that he is ready to suit up.
Jan 21 - 6:36 PM

Martin Jones will get the start in goal on Monday night when the San Jose Sharks face the Florida Panthers.

The Sharks are starting a back-to-back situation with Aaron Dell expected to get the call tomorrow in Washington. Jones will come into tonight's game with a 22-9-4 record, a 2.82 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage.
Jan 21 - 6:31 PM

Mikko Koskinen signed a three-year, $13.5 million contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers.

Koskinen will earn $5.2 million next season, $3.8 million (including $500,000 in a signing bonus) in 2020-21, and $4.5 million in 2021-22. Koskinen, 30, made the move from the KHL to NHL this season and has a 14-10-1 record, 2.78 GAA, and .911 save percentage in 27 games. Given his mixed results and inconsistent play thus far, this contract seems like an overpayment, though it is still on the low-end for a starting goaltender. That is what this contract suggests Koskinen is now viewed as the number one goaltender. It's possible that the Oilers will still re-sign Cam Talbot too, but it's more likely that they'll try to trade him rather than let him walk as a UFA this summer, which isn't shocking given his struggles over the last two seasons.
