Jonathan Huberdeau scored a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Huberdeau collected the primary assist on Aaron Ekblad's first period goal that gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead early. The Panthers forward then scored the go-ahead goal with nine seconds remaining in regulation when he buried a rebound past Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek. The goal was reviewed for goaltender interference (Detroit had a case), but it was not overturned. The 24-year-old finished the night with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal and two hits in 19:43 of ice time. He has 17 goals and 49 points in 49 games this season. His point streak is now at four games. He's also accumulated 15 points in his last 12 games.
Feb 3 - 10:14 PM

Torey Krug (ankle) is not expected to play this week.

"He's not ready yet. Won't play this week," said coach Bruce Cassidy. "But now he's closer. If he's never on the ice, then it's kind of out of sight, out of mind. But now he's back in the mix." Krug skated with his teammates on Tuesday morning.
Oct 23 - 4:03 PM

Nick Ritchie is expected to play in Tuesday's match against Chicago.

Ritchie has been added to Anaheim's roster after getting his visa paperwork settled. He was on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell during the morning skate.
Oct 23 - 1:53 PM

David Rittich will be back in the crease for Tuesday's game against Montreal.

Rittich will get a second straight start after he made 44 saves in a 4-1 win over the Ranges on Sunday. He has a 2-0-0 record with a 1.30 goals-against average and .962 save percentage in three appearances this season.
Oct 23 - 12:42 PM

Alexander Radulov (lower body) won't play on Tuesday.

Radulov was on the ice for the team's optional morning skate and he took part in Monday's practice, but he isn't ready to return yet. This will be the second straight game he will miss.
Oct 23 - 12:32 PM

Alex Galchenyuk (lower body) will make his season debut Tuesday night.

Galchenyuk was initially called a game-time decision on Monday after practice, but it was widely believed he would be ready to play. He is expected to start between Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse on the top line.
Oct 23 - 12:09 PM

Nicklas Backstrom reached the 600 career assists mark in a 5-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night.

Backstrom was two assists shy of the milestone entering the game and collected three throughout the game. His first two assists of the night came on Ovechkin's two goals in the game, the second coming on the powerplay in typical Capitals fashion. The 30-year old center then got a head-start on his next milestone by notching another assist on Oshie's empty net goal. So far this season, Backstrom has amassed two goals and 13 points in eight games and is on a four game point streak.
Oct 23 - 12:54 AM

Mark Scheifele scored two goals and two assists in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the St. Louis Blues.

Scheifele's power-play goal at the 12:07 mark of the first period cut the Jets' deficit to 2-1 at the time, while his second tally tied the game at three early in the third frame. He also registered assists on goals by Ben Chiarot and Jacob Trouba (overtime winner). Scheifele finished the game with a plus-3 rating and five shots on goal in 25:55 of ice time. The 25-year-old has two multi-point games this season, and they both came against the Blues. He's up to four goals and four assists in nine games this season.
Oct 22 - 11:03 PM

Ryan O'Reilly scored a goal and two assists in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

O'Reilly opened the scoring just 47 seconds into the game. He then added assists on goals by Vince Dunn (power play) and David Perron. The Perron goal gave the Blues a 4-3 lead just over five minutes into the third period, but they weren't able to hold on. O'Reilly finished the game with a plus-2 rating and four shots on goal in 22:38 of ice time. The 27-year-old has six points in his last three games. O'Reilly has two goals and eight assists in eight games this season. He won't continue producing at the same rate, but he should be a decent fantasy option in standard fantasy leagues.
Oct 22 - 10:59 PM

Micheal Ferland scored a goal in Monday's 3-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Ferland's power-play tally gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead at the 8:05 mark of the second frame. All three of Carolina's goals were scored on special teams, as Justin Faulk (power play) and Jordan Martinook (shorthanded) also found the back of the net for the 'Canes. Ferland is off to a terrific start with his new team. He's now scored in four straight games and he's up to six goals and nine points in nine games this season. There's no way the 26-year-old will be able to continue on this pace, but it looks like the Hurricanes are going to give him every opportunity to succeed.
Oct 22 - 10:31 PM

Mikko Rantanen scored a pair of goals in Monday's 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Rantanen buried a behind-the-back pass from Nathan MacKinnon on the power play to give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead at the 3:23 mark of the first period. The Avs forward added an empty-netter with just over two minutes remaining in the game. The 21-year-old has now picked up at least one point in each of Colorado's nine games this season. Rantanen has four goals and 16 points in nine contests. He continues to prove that he's one of the best young forwards in the game. Matt Nieto and Gabriel Landeskog also found the back of the net for Colorado.
Oct 22 - 10:11 PM

Gabriel Landeskog has been chosen as the first star of the week.

Landeskog paced the league with six goals and he registered seven points in three games during the week ending Oct. 21. He posted three multi-point performances and two multi-goal efforts, including his third career hat trick.
