The Dallas Stars have traded forward Mark McNeill to the Nashville Predators.

It's McNeill's third team since being selected in the first round of the 2011 draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He has six points in 18 AHL games and will likely never make an NHL impact.

Jakob Silfverberg (lower body) is listed as day-to-day.

Silfverberg did not take part in Wednesday's practice after he exited Tuesday's game due to a lower-body injury. The Ducks also lost Ryan Kesler (lower body) in that contest, so call-ups from the minors are expected to come.
Jan 16 - 3:17 PM

Ryan Kesler (lower body) has gone back to Anaheim to be re-evaluated.

Kesler won't play for the rest of the Ducks' road trip, which means he will miss at least the next three games. He was injured in Tuesday's game against Detroit.
Jan 16 - 3:15 PM

Elias Pettersson (knee) won't play Wednesday night against Edmonton.

Pettersson is feeling better, but he isn't quite ready to return yet. He hopes to be back on Friday. He has been sidelined since Jan. 3 due to a sprained knee.
Jan 16 - 2:15 PM

Kevin Hayes (upper body) has been ruled out for Thursday and Saturday.

Hayes won't be back on Thursday and the Rangers don't see a point to getting him back in the lineup before the break. He will get some additional time to rest as a result. Hayes was on the ice Wednesday morning in a regular jersey, so he is making progress. He has been out since Jan. 2 due to an upper-body injury.
Jan 16 - 1:39 PM

Linus Ullmark will start Wednesday night against Calgary.

Ullmark has lost in his past two outings and he surrendered five goals to Tampa Bay on Saturday in his last full appearance. He has a 9-3-3 record this season with a 2.86 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.
Jan 16 - 1:28 PM

David Backes will be a healthy scratch Wednesday night.

The Bruins will insert Peter Cehlarik, who was called up from the minors on Tuesday, into the lineup instead. Backes has four goals and 12 points in 38 games this season.
Jan 16 - 11:54 AM

Paul Byron will have a hearing Wednesday for charging Florida's MacKenzie Weegar.

The incident occurred in Tuesday's game and it resulted in a two-minute penalty. Byron appeared to launch himself and he made head contact with Weegar, who was forced to leave the game and did not return.
Jan 16 - 10:55 AM

Tomas Hertl posted three goals with a plus-3 rating in Tuesday's 5-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins for his second-career hat trick.

Now only was he able to get the fans to toss hats onto the ice, but his third goal was even better than usual. His third marker of the evening represented his 100th career NHL goal, so it was extra special. He'll look to extend his point streak to six games when the Sharks turn it around Wednesday night and hit the road for Arizona. He has five goals, eight points and a plus-10 rating during the impressive five-game run.
Jan 16 - 1:22 AM

Martin Jones allowed two goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Jones was able to tie a career best with his eighth consecutive victory. Over the past five outings he has really stood on his head, posting a 1.61 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. Jones and the Sharks will look to continue streaking when they hit the road for Arizona tomorrow night before getting a two-day hiatus between the next game Saturday at Tampa Bay.
Jan 16 - 1:00 AM

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 35 shots he faced in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Dallas Stars.

Vasilevskiy had the save of the night, absolutely robbing Radek Faksa of a power play marker. The shutout is Vasilevskiy's third of the season, and the 15th of his career to move him into second place on the franchise shutout list (Ben Bishop, 17). The Russian goaltender will see his record improve to 19-5-2 with a 2.46 goals-against-average and a .926 save percentage.
Jan 15 - 11:33 PM

Laurent Brossoit allowed one goal on 44 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Brossoit entered the final period looking for his second shutout of the season but Brandon Pirri beat him with a deflection just 1:03 into that frame to spoil his night. Winnipeg's backup goaltender will see his record improve to an impressive 10-1-1 with a 2.01 goals-against-average and a .943 save percentage.
