ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the Ravens and Patriots remain interested in free agent Bashaud Breeland.

Breeland left both visits without a deal but expects follow-ups this weekend. The Raiders are also still keeping tabs on Breeland. Money has been holding up Breeland talks to this point, but he looks close to signing.

49ers RB Joe Williams is out until at least Week 1 with a fractured rib.

He suffered the injury in San Francisco's second preseason game. On Sunday, coach Kyle Shanahan left open the possibility Williams would go on injured reserve, where he also spent his entire rookie year. Before the injury, Williams was getting outplayed by Raheem Mostert and Jeremy McNichols, among others. We suspect the ship has already sailed on Williams succeeding for the Niners.

Cowboys SS Xavier Woods is in danger of missing Week 1 with a hamstring injury.

It sounds like a severe strain. Woods was one of Dallas' bright spots in the secondary last season, earning significant snaps at safety and sometimes slot corner. He was a sixth-round pick out of Louisiana Tech in the 2017 draft.

Bears TE Adam Shaheen is believed to have escaped Saturday night's injury with a low ankle sprain.

If so, it would give Shaheen an outside shot to play in Week 1. Shaheen's injury looked gruesome on the field and he had to be carted off. With Dion Sims out lately due to a concussion, Shaheen has been working as the Bears' first-team "Y" tight end with Trey Burton in the catch-first "F" tight end role.

Rex Burkhead (knee) returned to practice on Sunday.

The Patriots just had a walkthrough on Sunday, but it's still an encouraging sign. It was reported last week that Burkhead is dealing with a slight tear in his right knee, though it sounds like he'll be able to play through it. Burkhead should play a vital role in New England's backfield committee this season and merits consideration as an RB2/3 in fantasy.

An MRI on Cowboys RG Zack Martin's left knee came back clean.

Martin hyperextended his knee in Saturday's preseason game against Cincinnati, though luckily he was able to avoid a serious injury. In addition to his hyperextended knee, the 27-year-old has also been diagnosed with a bone bruise. According to Cowboys beat reporter David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, Martin "could" be back in time for the team's season opener in two weeks. Having Martin back healthy will be a huge boost to Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys' running game.

Free agent RB Adrian Peterson will visit the Redskins on Monday.

Orleans Darkwa and Jamaal Charles worked out for Washington on Sunday. The Redskins are desperate for healthy bodies at running back following injuries to Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle). Peterson looked like he was on his last leg in 2017, averaging a pedestrian 3.39 yards per carry over 10 games for New Orleans and Arizona. Obviously Peterson is a big name and a likely Hall of Famer, though at this point in his career, it's doubtful the 33-year-old would be an upgrade on current starter Rob Kelley.

Bills coach Sean McDermott said tests on A.J. McCarron's injured collarbone were "not totally conclusive."

McCarron was believed to have suffered a broken collarbone Friday against Cleveland, though now he's headed for a second opinion. McDermott said the team will "pick up where we left off" upon McCarron's return from injury, implying that Josh Allen has yet to lock up the starting quarterback job. Still, we'd be surprised if Allen didn't get the ball in Week 1, particularly with McCarron banged up.

Bills coach Sean McDermott said DT Kyle Williams (knee) is week-to-week.

He hurt his knee during Friday's preseason game at Cleveland. Williams will not require surgery, though he's still expected to miss a few weeks. We'd consider him questionable for Buffalo's season opener at Baltimore on September 9.

Bengals released S George Iloka.

Iloka's release saves the Bengals $5.6 million in cap space, though it also leaves $1.8 million in dead money. A mainstay in Cincinnati, the 28-year-old collected 80 tackles and one interception over 16 starts last year. It's been a rough offseason for safeties on the open market, though we're guessing Iloka won't take long to resurface. With Iloka out of the picture in Cincinnati, look for second-round rookie Jessie Bates to start at strong safety.

According to ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini, first-round QB Sam Darnold is "trending toward" starting Week 1 against the Lions.

Darnold continues to see the bulk of New York's first-team practice reps and will likely draw the start in Friday's regular season dress rehearsal against the Giants, just as he did last week against the Redskins. Selected third overall in April's draft, Darnold has impressed since ending his contract holdout last month. All signs point to the 21-year-old getting the nod in Week 1.

Nick Foles (shoulder) will return to practice on Sunday.

Foles had an injury scare Thursday night against New England, but obviously it was nothing serious. He's expected to split reps with Carson Wentz during Sunday's 11-on-11 drills. Both players should be ready for the Eagles' opener on September 6.
