Giants selected Western Michigan CB Sam Beal with a third-round pick in the 2018 supplemental draft.

The G-Men surrender a 2019 third-round pick to take Beal. At 6'1/185, Beal was forced to leave Western Michigan for academic reasons. He was projected as a top-five player at his position heading into next year's draft, so this could be a steal for the Giants if it pans out. Beal has yet to turn 22 years old and is fresh off a 4.47 forty and 37-inch vertical at his Pro Day. Beal should compete with the likes of William Gay for snaps behind Janoris Jenkins and possibly Eli Apple. The talent is there for Beal to make an immediate impact, though corner is a tough NFL transition. Beal is obviously already behind after not taking part in spring work.

Packers placed Aaron Jones (knee) on Injured Reserve.

Seahawks signed RB Bo Scarbrough.

Scarbrough has been plucked off the Jaguars practice squad and will be a name to monitor in the crowded Seattle backfield led by Chris Carson. The signing is presumably insurance for RB Rashaad Penny, who was inactive in Week 15. The rookie was a big name out of Alabama, but Scarbrough was only a seventh round selection in the 2018 draft.

Lions placed DL Da'Shawn Hand (knee) on Injured Reserve.

Hand has earned positive grades from Pro Football Focus highlighted by his No. 6 pass rushing grade among 116 qualified interior defensive linemen. The 2018 No. 114 overall pick will finish his rookie campaign with three sacks, four tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and 22 solo tackles. The former No. 1 high school recruit has been an underrated find for the Lions.

Austin Ekeler (neck, concussion) is not practicing on Tuesday.

Ekeler needs to clear the concussion protocol to be active on Saturday against the Ravens, but he's also dealing with a neck "stinger." For now, Ekeler remains at best 50-50 to play in Week 16. Melvin Gordon was also practicing on Tuesday, so Ekeler would likely slide back into his early-season role if active.

Keenan Allen (hip) is not practicing on Tuesday.

Allen reportedly did not suffer any structural damage to his hip, and the Chargers believe there is a "legitimate chance" that Allen plays on Saturday against the Ravens. Not practicing on Tuesday isn't the best start to the week, but Thursday's practice availability will be more telling. If active, Allen will be a risky WR2/3 playing through an injury against a tough Baltimore defense.

Ron Rivera hasn't ruled out shutting down Cam Newton (shoulder) for the season.

Newton is visibly playing through shoulder pain, and Rivera plans to meet with Newton later in the week to find out where he is "in terms of his physical state and mental state." Rivera declined to comment further, but it opens the door to a late trip to the Injured Reserve. The Panthers have put Newton on a practice pitch count and medication to try to mask the unknown shoulder injury, but Newton said his shoulder is not getting better. If he remains active, the Panthers will continue their dink-and-dunk attack. Newton didn't attempt a single pass more than 20 yards downfield on Monday.

DeSean Jackson (thumb) is "hopeful to play" in the Buccaneers' Week 16 game against Dallas.

Jackson has missed the last three games and was reportedly unable to squeeze a football a week ago. With the Buccaneers clearly out of the playoff hunt, there's no incentive to rush Jackson back. For the speedster to return to the field, he will need to get in some practice time this week, which is something he hasn't be able to do since his injury. Even if active, Jackson would be nothing more than a risky WR4.

Redskins S Montae Nicholson was arrested and charged with assault and battery and public drunkenness on Tuesday morning.

Both Nicholson and a female companion were charged. The two apparently "pulled up in a vehicle and honked the horn" at a man and woman. It's unclear what ensued after. Nicholson was benched mid-season after shaky early-year play.

NFL.com's Tom Pelissero reports the Falcons could fire both OC Steve Sarkisian and DC Marquand Manuel.

Owner Arthur Blank is apparently convinced coach Dan Quinn is not the problem. Pelissero mentions ex-Quinn Seattle coaching mate Darrell Bevell as a possibility to replace Sark. That would be perhaps the least-inspiring hire the Falcons could make. Sark's offense has run extremely hot and cold this season, going through an unstoppable stretch in the red zone before much lower-wattage affairs over the past two months. Manuel has not had a prayer because of a wave of defensive injuries.

Melvin Gordon (knee) said he is healthy enough to play this week against the Ravens.

"I feel good, not 100% obviously," Gordon said. "But we’re going to go out there and knock off some rust and get myself ready for the playoffs." All signs have pointed to Gordon returning this week, and these quotes all but confirm it. Even against the Ravens, Gordon is a locked-in RB1 for the fantasy finals.

Aaron Rodgers suffered a groin injury Week 15 against the Bears.

He said the injury "bothered [him] a little bit" in the second half. There have been rumors the Packers will shut down Rodgers, who has also battled a knee injury all season, now that they are out of playoff contention, but interim coach Joe Philbin seemed to shoot down the idea. "In the general sense, my philosophy is football players are paid to play football games," Philbin said. "That's my general philosophy and overall philosophy whether it's Aaron Rodgers or anybody else." Rodgers has not played to his normal level this season, but the Packers turning to DeShone Kizer for the final two games would be a big downgrade for the entire offense.
