Lions signed GM Bob Quinn to an extension through 2022.

The team gave new coach Matt Patricia a five-year deal, and this extension links both the coach and GM for the next five seasons. It was Quinn who handpicked Patricia after the two worked together in New England. Quinn has hit on 2016 draft picks LT Taylor Decker, C Graham Glasgow, and DE Anthony Zettel, while also nabbing All-Pro returner Jamal Agnew in the fifth round last year.

According to the Athletic's Vic Tafur, a number of Raiders veterans have questioned coach Jon Gruden's "accountability" in the wake of the Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper trades.

"When what you say and what you do are two different things, there is a problem," one player told Tafur. Gruden allegedly told the players Cooper would not be traded, and then he was flipped to the Cowboys after the bye. Cooper was pulled off the practice field with no explanation. Gruden didn't tell the players why, and also talked to the media about the trade before addressing the team, as the rest of the squad learned of the deal via their phones. "Of course I’m concerned about the locker room," veteran TE Lee Smith said. Another player added, "I think many of us realize we won’t be here next year. We are just waiting to see if we will be here next week." The Gruden tenure is off to a roaring start.

Replying to a question asking whether there's "any chance" Raiders LG Kelechi Osemele is traded, the Athletic's Vic Tafur replied, "Everyone is available."

Tafur has been covering the Raiders for a long time, so we trust he has a good feel for the team. The tanking Raiders have already unloaded Pro Bowlers Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, so why stop there? Owner Mark Davis is one of the poorest owners in the league, relatively speaking, so we're sure he'd be okay unloading more money off the books for a team that is going nowhere. Derek Carr, RG Gabe Jackson, and Osemele have the three highest cap figures on the club. Osemele is 29 and surely wants no part of this tear-down and subsequent rebuild.

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports the Cardinals "fielded an inquiry" from the Jets regarding CB Patrick Peterson.

Coach Todd Bowles was Peterson's defensive coordinator in Arizona before he left to take the Jets' job, so there is obviously familiarity there and would be a seamless transition for Peterson. However, Mehta adds "barring a miracle" Peterson will not be dealt to the Jets. Arizona doesn't seem to want to truly trade Peterson, but it makes a whole lot of sense to do so.

Jason La Canfora reports that teams are "sniffing around" on Giants CB Janoris Jenkins and Raiders CB Gareon Conley.

The cornerback market is reportedly "hot" ahead of the trade deadline with the three teams La Canfora mentioning as buyers being the Eagles, Patriots, and Steelers. Jenkins has some quality seasons under his belt, but he is PFF's 90th graded corner out of 120 qualifiers this season, while Conley sits at 84th. Given the Giants and Raiders records, both teams should be trade deadline sellers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Dolphins will "most likely" place Albert Wilson (hip) on injured reserve.

Wilson doesn't need hip surgery, but the Dolphins want to give him time to recover correctly, so he will hit the injured reserve. Wilson, who can't return once he's placed on IR since the Fins already designated two players to return this season, is still only 26 years old and will be back with the Dolphins next season. With Kenny Stills ruled out for Week 8, the Dolphins will trot out Danny Amendola, Jakeem Grant, and DeVante Parker.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Vikings DE Everson Griffen (personal) will resume team activities tomorrow.

Griffen left the team on September 20 to address his mental health struggles, but the Vikings are welcoming him back nearly a month later. It is unclear if Griffen will be eligible to play for the Week 8 game against the Saints, but it's great news that he is doing well enough to be around his teammates. When Griffen is on the field, he is one of the league's top pass-rushers, highlighted by his double-digit sack totals in three of his last four seasons.

Raiders waived S Obi Melifonwu.

The Raiders telegraphed this move when they waived/injured Melifonwu in August. The No. 56 overall pick of last year's draft, Melifonwu could not get healthy as a rookie and then barely practiced during the offseason. That was enough for impatient coach Jon Gruden to move on. Still only 24, Melifonwu should pretty quickly get a second chance elsewhere if his health cooperates.

Cowboys RG Zack Martin has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL.

As has TE Geoff Swaim. Martin played through the injury against the Redskins, but it's not a guarantee he will be ready for Week 9 coming off the Cowboys' bye. Adrenaline can sometimes power a player through an in-game injury. Martin is week to week.

Cowboys DE Randy Gregory underwent a knee scope on Tuesday.

Per the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys are "hopeful" Gregory can return against the Titans following Dallas' Week 8 bye. Playing roughly half the Cowboys' snaps, Gregory has just one sack so far this season.

Speaking following the Giants' trade of CB Eli Apple, coach Pat Shurmur said the team has no plans to bench Eli Manning.

In other words, even though they are tanking, the G-Men won't bench their quarterback. Of course, you could easily argue leaving Manning in augments the tank. Coming off his best game of the season, Manning will be a low-end QB2 against the Redskins. Washington likes to dominate time of possession and keep the opposing offense off the field, limiting plays.
Oct 23 - 4:47 PM

Cowboys TE Geoff Swaim is undergoing an MRI for a knee injury and will not practice during the team's Week 8 bye.

Coach Jason Garrett is "hopeful" it will be a short-term injury, but an MRI is never a good sign. The 2015 seventh-rounder has 19 grabs in seven games after entering 2018 with nine career catches.
