Dolphins DE Andre Branch underwent knee surgery on Wednesday.

The details of the surgery aren't clear, but it sounds like it was more of a clean-up procedure. Branch inked a three-year, $24 million deal last March after producing 5.5 sacks in 2016. He predictably flopped in 2017, recording just four takedowns and grading out as Pro Football Focus' seventh-worst 4-3 end out of 64 qualifiers. Branch is nothing more than a rotational piece.

The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec reports the Ravens "are bracing for" a multi-week suspension for CB Jimmy Smith.

Apparently, the team is already aware of the ban, and Smith is currently appealing it with the league. It stems from a violation of the personal conduct policy. Smith has been involved in a custody battle, and his ex accused him of illegal drug use and domestic violence last year, though no criminal charges have been handed down in the matter. Smith has missed 17 games over the past four years and was suspended four games last year for a PEDs violation.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Jets want a "significant" return if they're going to trade Teddy Bridgewater.

Per Rapsheet, no team is viewing Bridgewater as a starter in trade talks at the moment. There just haven't been any significant injuries at the position around the league to open up one of the 32 jobs for Bridgewater. With demand low, the Jets may be wise to sit on Bridgewater into the regular season.

Updating a previous report, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports A.J. McCarron did not suffer a broken collarbone in the Bills' second preseason and will return to practice "soon."

Okay then. It was reported Friday night that McCarron suffered the broken collarbone earlier that evening after getting hit from behind and driven into the ground by Myles Garrett. But tests were inconclusive, according to coach Sean McDermott, and it sounds like McCarron will not miss nearly the 2-3 months a broken collarbone would have cost him. We still doubt McCarron plays in the Bills' third preseason game, and it has already been announced Josh Allen will start that one.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports first-rounder Josh Allen will start the Bills' third preseason game against the Bengals.

So, Allen gets the nod in the Bills' dress rehearsal, signaling he's firmly in charge atop the depth chart following the shoulder injury suffered by A.J. McCarron over the weekend. Allen has had a mostly-solid preseason thus far, completing better than 56% of his passes at a 5.5 YPA clip with two touchdowns. Allen is the heavy favorite to start Week 1 on the road against the Ravens. Nathan Peterman would be the No. 2. The Ravens' D/ST will be a top streaming option.

According to Mike Kaye of the First Coast News, Marqise Lee and Keelan Cole have received the "majority" of starter reps throughout training camp.

Dede Westbrook and second-round rookie D.J. Chark have also been "standouts" while free-agent signing Donte Moncrief has struggled with inconsistency. Lee, who returned to the Jags on a four-year deal this offseason, led the team in both targets (96) and catches (56) last season, though Cole excelled down the stretch, totaling 475 yards with three touchdowns over his final five regular season games. In a crowded Jaguars receiving corps, Lee and Cole would seem to be the best bets for fantasy success.

Rams signed RT Rob Havenstein to a four-year, $32.5 million contract extension through 2022.

This keeps him in L.A. through his age-30 season. Havenstein did a terrific job opening up holes for Todd Gurley last year, earning PFF's No. 2 run-blocking grade among tackles. The Rams have now extended Havenstein, Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley while continuing to play hardball with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald.

Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said Joey Bosa (foot) could practice "a bit" on Tuesday.

He's been nursing a left foot injury for the past two weeks. Bosa followed up his Rookie of the Year campaign with an even better season in 2017, earning his first All-Pro nod while grading out as PFF's No. 1 pass-rusher among 4-3 defensive ends. There's no concern about his availability for Week 1.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Cowboys have "some interest" in free agent S George Iloka at "the right price."

They'll likely be bidding against the Raiders, who have emerged as the early front-runner to sign Iloka. Xavier Woods' hamstring injury has created a need at safety for Dallas. Despite a strong track record as an NFL starter, the Bengals decided Iloka was no longer worth his lofty salary, particularly with second-round rookie Jessie Bates waiting in the wings. The 28-year-old won't be on the market for long.

Redskins signed RB Adrian Peterson, formerly of the Cardinals, to a one-year contract.

The Skins also worked out Jamaal Charles and Orleans Darkwa but Peterson impressed them the most. The 33-year-old is a shell of the player who once rushed for over 2,000 yards in a season, but obviously the Redskins feel he still has something left. Not that they had much of a choice—Washington's backfield is a mess right now with Derrius Guice (ACL), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle) all injured. Look for AD to mix in with Rob Kelley on early downs with Chris Thompson playing his usual role on passing downs.

Demaryius Thomas (wrist) returned to practice on Monday.

Thomas sat out Saturday's preseason game after injuring his wrist at practice last week, but obviously it was nothing serious. Barring an unexpected setback, the 30-year-old should be all systems go for Denver's opener against the Seahawks in three weeks. Demaryius is being drafted as a WR2 in most fantasy formats.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports "at least" two teams have shown interest in trading for Teddy Bridgewater.

Bridgewater has impressed in both of his preseason appearances, though Mehta senses the Jets are "all-in" on Sam Darnold and fully expects the rookie to start Week 1. The Jets have yet to receive a "concrete" offer, but a number of teams have shown interest and New York has made it "abundantly clear" that Bridgewater is available. Mehta suggested the Broncos, who are looking for depth behind starter Case Keenum, could be a fit.
