Roger Lewis was not targeted in the Giants' Week 17 win over the Redskins.

Lewis was not listed on the final injury report, but he was limited all week by an ankle injury which will require offseason surgery. Despite the no-show in the finale, Lewis finishes a solid campaign with 36 catches for 416 yards and two touchdowns. Still, he will be no better than roster depth behind Odell Beckham and Sterling Shepard, even if the Giants move on from Brandon Marshall.

Speaking Monday, Browns coach Hue Jackson once again claimed he would work to get Nick Chubb more carries.

Speaking Monday, Browns coach Hue Jackson confirmed Baker Mayfield's ankle injury won't affect his Week 7 status.

"Baker's fine," Jackson said. Mayfield could get a "limited" tag or two in practice, but he will be out there for his dream Week 7 matchup with the Bucs. The problem is not Mayfield's health but his supporting cast. Mayfield has precious few weapons to throw the ball to. Even still, he's very much on the streaming radar this week.

Bucs promoted LBs coach Mark Duffner to defensive coordinator.

A 65-year-old journeyman, Duffner has been coaching NFL linebackers in some capacity since 1997. He was the Bengals' defensive coordinator in 2001-02. Those teams were historically bad. Anyone should be an improvement on Mike Smith, but it's hard to see how Duffner is going to alter the fate of the Bucs' wow-bad defense.

ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure reports Calvin Ridley (ankle) has been diagnosed with a bone bruise.

Per McClure, Ridley's MRI "came back pretty clean." It sounds like there's a chance Ridley could suit up this week, though the Falcons are headed on bye in Week 8. Teams often opt for caution and maximum rest in that situation. Ridley's status will be updated no later than Wednesday when the Falcons return to practice.

Bucs fired DC Mike Smith.

LBs coach Mark Duffner is expected to take Smith's place. Smith is the first scapegoat for the collapsing Dirk Koetter regime, though a richly-deserving one. Running antiquated, vanilla schemes, Smith's defense was getting gutted for 440 yards per game, a number that would be by far the worst in the league if not for the Chiefs. They are on pace to allow the most points in NFL history. Smith's unit wasn't good (as in, dead last in yards allowed) in 2017, either, and it's fair to question why he was brought back in the first place. The game has passed Smith by.

Texans coach Bill O'Brien does not expect D'Onta Foreman (Achilles', PUP) to be activated this week.

"I don't think he's quite ready," O'Brien added. Houston originally expected Foreman to be ready Week 1, and now he is not even healthy enough to play six weeks into the season. Coming back from a tough injury for running backs, Foreman is just a weak bench stash in deeper leagues.
Oct 15 - 12:55 PM

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) is "day to day."

Gase said he will not know about Tannehill's status until he seems him throw later this week. Worryingly, the coach added Tannehill actually got worse as last week went on, which is why they decided to sit him. Gase confirmed Tannehill will be the starter once he is healthy.

Baker Mayfield (ankle) is expected to play Week 7 against the Bucs.

Mayfield suffered a nasty looking ankle injury against the Chargers, but he played through it the rest of the game. He will need "treatment" this week, but he is expected to be fine for Sunday. In a great matchup against the Bucs, Mayfield will be a back-end QB1.

NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports there has been "no sign of" Le'Veon Bell at the Steelers' facility on Monday.

Bell will supposedly report to the team this week, but the Steelers remain in the dark about his plans. Even if he does, Pittsburgh could decide to pursue a roster exemption for Bell, potentially keeping him on the sidelines and reducing his pay. The Steelers are also expected to keep utilizing James Conner even once Bell returns, limiting the star's fantasy upside. This situation continues to be an absolute mess.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Matt Breida (ankle) is "pushing to play" Monday night against the Packers.

It would be surprising to see Breida on the field after he managed just one limited practice this week, but he has made a habit of playing through injuries so far this season. Alfred Morris' value would take a hit if Breida suits up.

Tyreek Hill caught 7-of-12 targets for 142 yards and three touchdowns in the Chiefs' Week 6 loss to the Patriots.

Even the huge stats don't do justice to how good of a night Hill had. Hill’s first two touchdowns came in the red-zone, and he smoked the Patriots on a blown assignment for a 75-yard TD to tie the game with under four minutes. Hill got most of his yardage on chunk plays, but his speed was too much for New England's zone schemes. It’s a needed breakout for Hill after he'd been held to 166 scoreless yards over the last three games. Hill is in a great spot against the Bengals in another Sunday night matchup next week.
