As expected, Draymond Green (foot, ankle) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. the Nets.

ESPN's Mark Spears reported that Green is targeting Monday's game vs. the Clippers as his return, so it was not surprising to see Draymond ruled out of Saturday's action. Jordan Bell, Kevon Looney, Damian Jones and Alfonzo McKinnie will soak up addtional minutes with Green sidelined.

Danilo Gallinari (back spasms) will not return on Friday vs. the Warriors.

That's brutal timing with Lou Williams (hamstring) out tonight. The Clippers immediately went with a super small lineup with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander alongside Patrick Beverley and Avery Bradley, so fantasy owners should keep an eye on those first two guys (SGA and Pat-Bev). Tyrone Wallace and Mike Scott could also benefit, but aren't on the standard-league radar. Gallo has obviously been prone to injuries throughout his career including some chronic back issues, but only had one DNP entering this game. Hopefully it's nothing serious and his owners should be on the lookout for an update.

Rudy Gobert was a monster against the Cavaliers on Friday, scoring 19 points (8-of-10 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs) with 15 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in 27 minutes.

Gobert tied Joel Embiid for the league lead in double-doubles with his effort in this one, as both are now sitting at 38 on the season. He continues to score at a career-best rate and is surprisingly over the 2.0 assist per game mark for the first time in his career. Including tonight, he’s blocked multiple shots in five straight games, which is the fourth time he’s done so this season. Gobert is one of the best centers in fantasy basketball.

Updating a previous report, Kenneth Faried will be waived by the Nets and will join the Houston Rockets.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Faried will be officially waived on Saturday and will be cleared to join Houston on Monday. Woj adds that Faried is "expected to move into the Rockets lineup with significant minutes immediately," making him an intriguing short-term pickup in fantasy leagues with Clint Capela (thumb) likely out until the All-Star break. Faried averaged 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in his only two games with 20+ minutes with the Nets this season, but was buried on the bench in pretty much every other game. He should be a solid source of points, boards and FG% with a handful of defensive stats, but he is a career 65.4% shooter from the line.

Donovan Mitchell kept it rolling on Friday, scoring 24 points (9-of-15 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs) with two rebounds, four assists, two steals and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes against the Cavaliers.

Mitchell scored 20 or more points for the eighth straight game, which is his longest such streak of the season. He’s been excelling with Ricky Rubio (hamstring) out of the lineup. Over the previous five games prior to this one, all with Rubio unavailable, he’s averaging 31.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 3.0 triples on a sterling 50% shooting. This stretch has seen Mitchell post top-20 value in 9-category leagues. The next step will be for him to continue with this level of production when Rubio returns.

Hassan Whiteside played 19 minutes vs. the Pistons on Friday with eight points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.

He had an awful night from the foul line (0-of-8), bumping his season average down to 42.9%. Whiteside is sitting outside of the top-100 of standard category leagues for that reason, but he jumps all the way up into the top-25 for punt-FT builds. Bam Adebayo had it going and the Heat opted for a smaller lineup with Andre Drummond (nasal injury) leaving the game early, so if you combine that with his struggles from the line it's easy to see why he was pulled so early. Whiteside did tweak his left shoulder and was able to play through it, but it's worth a mention with the Heat playing the Bulls for the second night of a back-to-back on Saturday. Be prepared to add Bam if Whiteside pops up on the injury report.

Kenneth Faried is in advanced negotiations with the Nets on a contract buyout.

The Nets likely explored the trade market first, but it was always going to hard to move his $13M expiring deal. There are quite a few teams in need of a big such as Houston and Philly, and Faried has performed well in his rare appearances with Brooklyn -- in his only two games with 20+ minutes, Faried averaged 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks.

Kyrie Irving dominated during a 122-116 win over the Grizzlies on Friday, scoring 38 points with seven rebounds, 11 assists, one block and four 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

He exploded in the third quarter with 20 points and is playing some of his best ball of his career. After the last game, Irving had a career-high 18 dimes and mentioned it after the game. "Somehow people still think I can't pass," he said. His recent output in passing makes him the first Celtics player to record 27+ points and 11+ assists in consecutive games since Larry Bird (Feb. 13-14, 1986). He'll have some risk rest late in the year, but Irving is among the best fantasy point guards when active.

Marcus Smart continued his solid run this calendar year, making 7-of-9 from the field for 20 points with six rebounds, three assists, one block, three steals and six 3-pointers in 29 minutes against the Grizzlies on Friday.

He likes 2019 and is shockingly shooting 53.7% from deep this calendar year. He was sitting at just 32.3% from deep in the 2018 games this season, and routinely hanging around 30% most seasons in his career, usually making him one of the worst players in fantasy for FG%. This is very likely to be a fluke, but Smart has been a top-40 player this month because he's making shots. He probably should be picked up until he cools off.
Jan 18 - 10:42 PM

Luke Kennard was instrumental in Detroit's 98-93 win over the Heat on Friday, scoring 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting in 34 minutes.

His workload jumped up for the fourth straight game, and the second-year guard topped off his hot shooting night with three rebounds, three assists, one steal and four triples. Coach Dwane Casey called Kennard his second or third best playmaker before the game and then gushed about him in the post-game conference. "I think Luke has shown that he's going to be a dynamic wing player in this league," he said. Detroit's wing rotation has been a fantasy wasteland for most of the season, but Kennard is a name to watch or a flier to see if he can separate himself.
Jan 18 - 10:13 PM

D'Angelo Russell matched his career-high 40 points during a 117-115 comeback win over the Magic on Friday, adding two rebounds, seven assists, one steal, one turnover and eight 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

The 21-point comeback victory marked the team's biggest comeback win in the Brooklyn era. Russell went off in the second quarter with 19 consecutive points for the Nets, setting an NBA high for this season. He did not close on Wednesday, and for the second time he shined in the following game after a 34-point game last month when he didn't close prior to that one. Russell is the first player in franchise history to register 40+ points, eight or more treys and seven or more assists in a game. He's making a case for an All-Star bid with ice in his veins.
Jan 18 - 10:08 PM

Blake Griffin nearly triple-doubled in a 98-93 win over Miami on Friday, scoring 32 points with 11 rebounds and nine assists.

He also had one steal, three triples and five turnovers, hitting 10-of-24 shots and 9-of-11 free throws. The Pistons are still in the playoff hunt and have won three out of their last four games, but as long as they're competitive Griffin's value will be safe. He also might play more center and could get a short-term boost if Andre Drummond misses any time with his nasal injury -- his usage rate goes up by 5.8% with Drummond off the court and his rebounding rate jumps up 4.4%.
