Coach Brad Stevens said that Gordon Hayward may be "limited a bit from a minutes perspective" at the start of the regular season, but he and Kyrie Irving are expected to play in back-to-backs.

It was always assumed that Hayward would be on some sort of minutes restriction as he works his way back towards 100 percent. Hayward, who missed nearly all of last season due to a gruesome leg injury, was also dealing with a minor back issue during training camp. It will be interesting to see how many minutes he logs on opening night, but it's great news that Hayward is expected to play both ends of back-to-backs early in the season.

Otto Porter (knee) was unable to practice on Saturday and will be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup vs. the Lakers.

If Porter is unable to play, the Wiz will be shorthanded on the wing. Both Austin Rivers and Kelly Oubre are unavailable as they are part of a pending trade with the Suns. Should Porter be ruled out, Markieff Morris, Jeff Green, Tomas Satoransky, and Sam Dekker would all be asked to log extended minutes.
Dec 15 - 1:52 PM

Pascal Siakam (back stiffness) is questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Nuggets.

Siakam injured his back in a scary fall Friday night vs. Portland. He was unable to return to the contest. However, Shams Charania of The Athletic tweeted that tests on Siakam came back clean and that he was day-to-day. Fortunately, getting the questionable tag, as opposed to being ruled out, seems to support the belief that Siakam is only dealing with a minor injury. If he is unable to play Sunday, O.G. Anunoby and C.J. Miles will divvy up extra minutes.
Dec 15 - 1:47 PM

Kyle Lowry (left thigh contusion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. Denver.

Lowry did not play Friday vs. the Blazers. It was the second game he has missed due to injury this season. Fred VanVleet started in place of Lowry vs. Portland and scored a season-high 21 points, adding eight assists, four rebounds, three triples and four turnovers in 38 minutes. FVV will draw another start if Lowry is unable to suit up on Sunday.
Dec 15 - 1:46 PM

Coach Igor Kokoskov said that there is a "very good chance" Devin Booker (hamstring) plays Saturday vs. the Wolves.

Booker has missed each of the Suns previous six contests but is on track to make his return this evening. Here's the full quote from Kokoskov after the Suns shootaround Saturday morning: "He looks good. To play it safe, I would say questionable, but there is a very good chance he's going to play and if he plays, he's going to start." De'Anthony Melton will be bumped back to the bench and Jamal Crawford and Troy Daniels will see their minutes reduced as well.
Dec 15 - 1:32 PM

Al Horford (sore left knee) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. Detroit.

Saturday will be the fifth straight game on the shelf for Horford. Earlier this week, coach Brad Stevens said that Horford would miss at least a few games and that the Celtics would err on the side of caution after he was diagnosed with patellar tendinitis. Aron Baynes, Daniel Theis and Robert Williams will continue to soak up extra minutes in Horford's absence. It's tough to trust any of those three on a consistent basis.
Dec 15 - 1:04 PM

Reggie Bullock (left ankle sprain) will play Saturday vs. the Celtics.

Bullock, sidelined since December 3rd, has missed each of the Pistons last five contests. On the season, he is averaging 10.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists, while shooting just 39.0 percent from the floor. Luke Kennard, Langston Galloway and Stanley Johnson will see fewer minutes with Bullock back in the mix.
Dec 15 - 1:01 PM

Rajon Rondo (fractured right hand) has been cleared to resume basketball activities but will not join the Lakers on their current road trip.

The Lakers play a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday and then travel to Brooklyn to take on the Nets on Tuesday to close out their road trip. Thus, the earliest Rondo would be able to return would be next Friday at home vs. New Orleans. We will obviously have plenty of updates on his progress between now and then.
Dec 15 - 1:00 PM

Kyle Anderson (left ankle sprain) is questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Rockets.

Anderson turned his ankle in the second half of Friday's loss to the Heat and was able to only play 16 minutes in that contest. If Anderson is unable to play on Saturday night, Dillon Brooks, Omri Casspi and Wayne Seldon will divvy up additional playing time.
Dec 15 - 12:49 PM

Zach LaVine (ankle) has returned to Chicago to have his left ankle injury further examined and will miss at least the next two games.

Lavine hurt the ankle late in Thursday's game vs. the Magic. He downplayed the severity of the injury initially and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Friday that the injury was "not serious." However, Lavine will not play Saturday versus the Spurs and on Monday at Oklahoma City. More worrisome if that KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune is now reporting that "LaVine may need to rest the injury for a couple weeks." Yet, it is believed that surgery won’t be required. The Bulls will officially address the injury Saturday afternoon. Stay tuned.
Dec 15 - 12:44 PM

JaVale McGee (illness) is questionable for Saturday's game vs. Charlotte.

McGee missed shootaround with flu-like symptoms. If he is unable to play, Tyson Chandler would likely draw the start and would be a popular streaming/DFS option. Moritz Wagner and/or Ivica Zubac would also likely re-enter the rotation.
Dec 15 - 12:07 PM

The Suns have acquired Kelly Oubre in a trade, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

Thankfully, there are no other Oubre players in the league, and luckily Miami wasn't involved to have another possible Kelly O in the mix. Joking aside, this is a very interesting spot for Oubre, who should have an excellent shot to see minutes in the 26-30 range even when the team is healthy. He'll be added to a deeper wing core of Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Josh Jackson, and T.J. Warren. Oubre should eventually have a shot at value, but getting so much more competition for minutes could be a negative at first. He's still a hold in standard leagues.
