Taurean Prince led the Hawks with 25 points (9-of-11 FGs), adding six boards, two assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers in 29 minutes against the Spurs on Wednesday.

Prince got going early, scoring 16 points in just over five minutes to start the game. He was phenomenal down the stretch last year, averaging close to 20 points per game post-All-Star break and will continue to be a go-to option for the Hawks. His efficiency will be crucial to his fantasy value, but he's shown an improvement there so far in the preseason. Prince presents upside in the mid-rounds.
Oct 10 - 11:23 PM

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 11 points with two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 28 minutes against the Nuggets on Wednesday.

His biggest bugaboo in the preseason was missing so many shots at the rim, but he didn't have a problem in this outing. Gilgeous-Alexander was expected to be the long-term prospect among the top-tier PGs, but he's been way ahead of the curve dating back to Vegas. He's getting minutes at both guard spots and needs to be owned in standard leagues.
Oct 18 - 2:30 AM

Devin Booker made 12-of-19 from the field for 35 points during a 121-100 win over the Mavs on Wednesday, adding four rebounds, seven assists and six 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

Hand injury? What hand injury? Booker caught fire in the fourth quarter as he led the Suns to 38 points, including 19 points on 133.3 eFG% in those eight minutes. Most importantly in the fourth, Booker was the point guard as he ran the two-man game with Deandre Ayton. He keeps adding more to his game every year and this could be the year he puts it all together now that he has his man in the middle on Ayton. Booker should be among the league leaders in scoring and offers massive upside every night.
Oct 18 - 2:26 AM

Deandre Ayton was outstanding in his debut against the Mavs on Wednesday, making 8-of-11 from the field and both free throws for 18 points with 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and no turnovers.

No 3-pointers, Mr. Ayton? What a monster eight-cat line from the No. 1 pick. It really couldn't have gone much better with Ayton finding open teammates and showing some soft touch on his shooting. He's already one of the biggest centers in the NBA and he made short work of DeAndre Jordan in several sets. If you reached for Ayton in the third or fourth round, there's nothing like instant gratification in fantasy. It's one game, but he looks like he'll be the real deal for a long time.
Oct 18 - 2:19 AM

Trevor Ariza scored 21 points with eight rebounds, seven assists, one steal and five 3-pointers in 37 minutes against the Mavs on Wednesday.

He looked like a star player with some Euro-step drives and dishing to his teammates in a variety of sets. Ariza was brought in on a one-year deal to show the young Suns how to play on the perimeter in the NBA, and for now it looks like he's going to get heavy burn until the Suns start to fall out of it. He has to be owned everywhere.
Oct 18 - 2:10 AM

De'Aaron Fox dished out seven assists on Wednesday, adding 21 points, four rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes.

We're hoping for a second-year breakout from Fox and he took a step in that direction with 8-of-16 made field goals against a stingy Jazz team tonight. He peaked at 44.2% shooting as a rookie (in March) and finished at 41.2%, so we can overlook tonight's 0-of-2 mark from deep and 5-of-7 mark at the line. Frank Mason was limited to a mere five minutes, too, which insulates Fox from any position-battle concerns.
Oct 18 - 2:04 AM

Josh Jackson scored 18 points with two rebounds, three assists, one block and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes off the bench against the Mavs on Wednesday.

He made 3-of-4 from deep and had a few jumpers inside the arc. Jackson struggled mightily on jumpers in Vegas and in the preseason, so we're not going to by this output yet. However, we are buying the minutes with Jackson closing at shooting guard next to Devin Booker at the point. He will find a way to score in the teens and should add defensives stats, so he should be owned in all leagues.
Oct 18 - 2:00 AM

Ricky Rubio finished Wednesday's game with one point, four assists, two rebounds and one steal in 22 minutes of action, and he reportedly "jammed his thumb."

De'Aaron Fox ran wild vs. Utah tonight and Rubio was outplayed by Dante Exum, but the thumb issue is the headline for fantasy owners. He was already expected to spend more time off the ball, and that's not ideal for a career 38.5% shooter whose 41.8% last season was a personal best. Rubio has too much proven mid-round upside to fret about one poor game, assuming his 'jammed' thumb isn't a problem -- we'll start to worry if he's missing games and/or struggling after Halloween.
Oct 18 - 1:54 AM

Boban Marjanovic scored 18 points with eight rebounds and two turnovers in 18 minutes against the Nuggets on Wednesday.

Before we freak out, let's remember that Boban has owned Denver multiple times, so that could have been a factor. OK. That enough to temper excited? Good. Boban could be freed and Marcin Gortat has said that Boban could have a dominating role on the Clips. Plus, Montrezl Harrell also played the four as Boban outplayed Gortat easily. Boban's upside is just too high to leave on the waiver wire after a game like this one. We'd suggest adding him now and figuring out the rest later. Maybe you will have to drop him the next time out, but it'll sting badly if he's for real and someone else gets to ride the Boban train. Free Boban.
Oct 18 - 1:31 AM

DeMar DeRozan scored 28 points with four rebounds, four assists and three turnovers in 38 minutes during the Spurs' season-opening home win on Wednesday.

DeRozan spoke repeatedly this preseason about playing aggressively on offense, and he followed through tonight with 10-of-21 FGs and 7-of-11 FTs. He averaged a career-high 5.2 dimes last season and should approach that mark again with Dejounte Murray (knee) out for the season -- DeMar, Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge will all be tasked with more table-setting duties. We have 81 regular-season games to go, but he's already looking like a fantasy value for owners who took him in the 40-50 range.
Oct 18 - 1:16 AM

LaMarcus Aldridge hauled in 19 rebounds, eight on the offensive glass, to finish Wednesday's game with 21 points, two assists, three blocks and one steal.

The scary part is that LMA could have completely gone off if his shots were falling, since he made just 7-of-23 field goals and 7-of-10 free throws. He had a modest usage rate of 26.9% but this is a great start for fantasy owners -- he took 23+ shots in only 11 games last season, so to hit that mark on opening night alongside DeMar DeRozan is all you can ask for.
Oct 18 - 1:13 AM

Jeff Teague scored a team-high 27 points in a losing effort on Wednesday, making 8-of-12 FGs and 9-of-9 FTs with four assists and two steals.

Teague was 2-of-3 from deep and did his damage in a modest 32 minutes, highlighting the reason he was an undervalued PG to target in the middle rounds. He did tweak his right ankle tonight but walked it off and appeared no worse for the wear, so we're leaving him off the injury report. He snuck into top-60 value last year and should improve with another year's experience under coach Tom Thibodeau, so owners can set-it-and-forget-it with him as a fantasy starter.
