Jabari Bird has been arrested and is facing charges for an alleged assault

Per the report from CBS News in Boston, Bird was taken into custody early Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and the BPD Domestic Violence Unit is involved. The Celtics issued the following statement: "We are aware of the incident involving Jabari Bird and are taking it very seriously. We are actively gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time." In their statement, Boston police say that Bird is being guarded at a local hospital for an evaluation after a domestic incident and that complaints will be sought against the suspect for assault & battery 209A, strangulation and kidnapping.

Trevor Ariza (personal) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. OKC.

Nov 16 - 2:53 PM

Coach Billy Donovan said that Russell Westbrook (ankle) practiced in practice on Friday, including part of the contact portions, but there is nothing definitive on his status for Saturday's game vs. Phoenix.

Russ has missed each of the Thunder's previous five games, but took part in shootaround prior to Wednesday's game vs. the Knicks. Being able to take part in a full practice on Friday is further proof that he is making progress and quite close to a return. We'll get another update on his status after Saturday morning's shootaround. If Westbrook is unable to play vs. the Suns, Dennis Schroder will draw another start. Paul George, coming off a season-high 35 points, all has a higher usage rate with Russ off the floor.
Nov 16 - 1:58 PM

Wes Matthews (left hamstring strain) is listed as out for Saturday's game vs. the Warriors.

Matthews returned to the Mavericks lineup on Wednesday after a one-game absence, but aggravated his hamstring strain in that contest. Coach Rick Carlisle said that Matthews was doubtful for Saturday's contest, and shortly thereafter, Wes was ruled out on the injury report. Hamstring injuries can linger if not allowed to fully heal; as a result, we can expect the Mavs to err on the side of caution play it safe with Matthews going forward. Dorian Finney-Smith started in place of Wes on Monday, and scored eight points in 33 minutes.
Nov 16 - 1:41 PM

Luka Doncic (sore left shoulder) went through a full practice on Friday and is listed as questionable on the injury report for Saturday's game vs. the Warriors, but is expected to play.

Doncic went for an X-ray after Wednesday's victory over Utah, but the results were negative. With him getting in a full practice on Friday, he has a good chance to suit up on Saturday night. Check back after the Mavs shootaround on Saturday morning for an update on Luka's status.
Nov 16 - 1:29 PM

Donte DiVincenzo suffered a minor left quadriceps strain in Wednesday’s game and will be out for the next three games, after which time he’ll be re-evaluated.

DiVincenzo has provided the Bucks with a nice boost off the bench this season, averaging 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 18.1 minutes per game. Pat Connaughton is expected to soak up most of Donte's abandoned minutes. Malcolm Brogdon and Tony Snell may see an uptick in playing time as well. It's also possible Matt Dellavedova re-enters the rotation.
Nov 16 - 12:17 PM

Updating a previous item, Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that John Henson is expected to miss a minimum of 12 weeks following surgery on a torn left wrist ligament.

Per the Bucks statement, Henson initially aggravated his wrist at Portland on Nov. 6. He was able to play in the next three games before reporting additional discomfort in Wednesday night’s game vs. Memphis. An evaluation confirmed the injury and surgery will be scheduled in the near future. Shams reports that Henson does plan to return this season, but it likely won't be until after the All-Star Break. Starting center Brook Lopez is the primary beneficiary here. Thon Maker will see an uptick in playing time as well.
Nov 16 - 12:14 PM

Coach Nick Nurse said that Serge Ibaka (right knee soreness) will play Friday vs. the Celtics.

Ibaka sat out Wednesday's game vs. Detroit, but was not listed on the injury report for Friday's contest. Wednesday was the only game Serge has missed the season, and he has exceeded expectations early on. Ibaka has scored in double-figures in each of his last 13 appearances and is averaging 17.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 26.6 minutes per game in 2018-19.
Nov 16 - 11:10 AM

DeMar DeRozan scored a game-high 34 points with six rebounds, five assists, one block, three steals and no turnovers in 41 minutes during a 112-109 loss to the Clippers on Thursday.

It's not often coach Gregg Popovich gives his star players big minutes and DeRozan sits just under 37 minutes per game on the year. No player has really even been close to that in the Pop era since Tim Duncan played 36.6 minutes per game back in 2003-04. The big volume, high usage, and six-plus dimes on strong efficiency has him as a top-20 player in standard leagues. Given his durability, he has an excellent chance to stay in that neighborhood.
Nov 16 - 1:17 AM

Jamal Murray was benched on Thursday for "a small violation of team rules" and he will start again on Saturday against the Pelicans.

It was a big surprise that Monte Morris got the start over Murray, but it was just a one-time thing for one of the NBA's best young guards. Despite the Nuggets going on a four-game losing streak before tonight, their starters haven't been the problem with only a -4.0 net rating in the four losses. Whatever the case, Murray should be a mid-round player going forward.
Nov 16 - 12:05 AM

Paul Millsap scored 18 points with nine rebounds, five assists, four steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes during a 138-93 win over the Hawks on Thursday.

Revenge game? The Hawks have seen a lot of players go off against them, so Millsap putting up one of his best lines of the year is no surprise. That said, Millsap is on one of his best stretches of the year over his last three, averaging 18.7 points, 5.7 boards, 4.0 dimes, 2.0 steals, 1.3 blocks and 2.3 treys on 51.4 FG% and 81.3 FT%. He's creating a bit of a sell-high window.
Nov 15 - 11:54 PM

Juancho Hernangomez scored a season-high 25 points with nine rebounds, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers in 31 minutes against the Hawks on Thursday night.

He saw run in garbage time to add to a brilliant night at home. The Hawks are among the best matchups for wings, so Hernangomez's big night does come with a grain of salt. He didn't score more than eight points in any of his previous six games, but he's played at least 30 minutes in each of his last three. He's trending up, but we'll need to see more games like this one before going all in on him. This was just his second game this season in double digits, and both of those were 20-point games.
