Kevin Knox got off to a slow start on Tuesday, but bounced back to hit 9-of-22 shots, five 3-pointers and 6-of-6 free throws for 29 points to go along with nine boards, two assists and a steal.

He had seven turnovers and got off to an 0-for-6 start tonight, but bounced back to lead the Knicks on a furious comeback. The No. 9 pick in the draft is turning heads in New York (averaging 23.3 points through three games) and says he wants to be the Rookie of the Year. And given the way the Knicks roster is shaping up, it's not a crazy goal.

The Suns signed De'Anthony Melton to a two-year, $2.3 million deal.

The Suns were able to reel in Melton from a trade with the Rockets after Houston stole him at No. 46 in the draft. It's fair to say Melton's summer league caught Phoenix's eye, and he wasn't just a throw-in player based on some quotes from Rockets GM Daryl Morey. There are multiple reports saying the Suns are after a PG, but for now Melton may have a shot at a rotation spot out of the gate. If the Suns aren't able to add a PG, Melton could be an option as a steals and 3-pointers specialists on one of the fastest teams in the league.

There is a "real possibility" Jimmy Butler may not report to training camp if a trade has not been consummated, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Earlier, Woj reported that the Wolves are shutting down trade offers on Butler right now, so it would appear Butler is willing to take his trade request to another level. It sounds like this relationship is beyond repair, but the Wolves may not be willing to accommodate Jimmy's list of the Clippers, Nets and Knicks as possible destinations. If Butler is still on the roster for most of camp, it'll create a major distraction for the team. Expect several updates this weekend.

Coach Mike D'Antoni said he wants to have Carmelo Anthony off the floor when P.J. Tucker is on and vice versa.

The Rockets are expected to start these two along with Chris Paul, James Harden and Clint Capela, so it'll be very interesting to see which of the two forwards plays better with CP3 or Harden -- Melo is likely better next to CP3. MDA also has said he is expecting James Ennis to take a ton of threes, so there's a very good chance he'll be playing next to Melo and Tucker. Anthony should get plenty of chances to shoot threes, but there may not as much opportunity to create on his own.

General manager Dell Demps said Solomon Hill is in "phenomenal shape" right now.

Demps also said that Hill came back before he was 100 percent, so that explains what was essentially a lost season. There's a very good chance that Hill could wind up as the starting small forward, which could push out Elfrid Payton or E'Twaun Moore. Even if Hill starts, he would likely be a defense-first addition to the lineup and would be near the bottom for usage rate among NBA starters.

General manager Dell Demps said Cheick Diallo has probably put on 10-12 pounds of muscle.

Demps added that Diallo hasn't lost a step, maintaining his speed and energy. Diallo's third Vegas trip was a success back in July, and it's clear he has some potential as an offensive weapon. However, the edition of Julius Randle serves as a roadblock for Diallo this season. For now, he's really just a last-round lotto ticket in deep leagues.

Frank Jackson (ankle) has minor restrictions for training camp, according to general manager Dell Demps.

The GM added that Jackson is cleared, though. A left ankle sprain in the first half of summer league ended his time at the end, but he looked extremely explosive with 13 points in the first half. The Pelicans led the NBA in pace last year and it's no guarantee that Elfrid Payton can hold the job, so maybe Jackson can push for minutes. For now, he's only a late-round flier in the deepest of leagues.

Coach Rick Carlisle said Dennis Smith Jr. is "two or three or four times better" in strength and conditioning than this time last year.

"I don’t think there’s anyone faster off the dribble in the NBA," Carlisle added. DSJ finds himself in a great spot for success with the Mavs making changes along with more help. He was 14th percentile on guarded jumpers last year, but he was 94th percentile on unguarded jumpers. If he can play well off the ball next to Luka Doncic, DSJ could be in for a big turnaround in efficiency. He tends to slide in drafts, so give him a long look in the late-mid rounds.

Phoenix has "asked about" Tyus Jones, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN.

The Suns are in need of an established point guard, as the only PG's currently on the roster are Elie Okobo, De'Anthony Melton, Shaquille Harrison and Isaiah Canaan. A trade to Phoenix would dramatically boost Jones's fantasy stock. Such a deal would also mean more minutes for Jeff Teague and Derrick Rose in Minnesota. Thus, this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.

Lonzo Ball (left meniscus) has been "100 percent cleared" by the Lakers medical staff, but GM Rob Pelinka couldn't guarantee he'll play on opening night.

Lakers coach Luke Walton said recently that Ball wouldn't participate in 5-on-5 scrimmages at the start of camp, which Pelinka basically confirmed. "Because [Ball] hasn’t played NBA 5-on-5 for four or five months, there is a progression to come back," he said. Magic Johnson praised Ball's dedication to studying film this offseason, but his fantasy value is clouded by the health of his knee and the arrival of ball-dominant veterans LeBron James and Rajon Rondo.

Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce won't rule out the possibility of giving John Collins and Omari Spellman minutes at center this season.

Pierce added that center isn't either player's "natural position," and the center spot is already somewhat busy with Dewayne Dedmon, Miles Plumlee and Alex Len in the mix. Collins shouldn't need run at the five to earn 32+ minutes, but this is one more reason to love him as a breakout fantasy player.
Sep 20 - 4:26 PM

Dewayne Dedmon (left ankle fracture) will not be cleared for training camp and will be re-evaluated in late September.

Dedmon suffered an avulsion fracture in late August -- it's "not considered serious" but the rebuilding Hawks have no incentive to rush back their veteran big man. With Miles Plumlee and Alex Len in the frontcourt, and coach Lloyd Pierce open to giving John Collins and Omari Spellman minutes at center, Dedmon is an unlikely fantasy target unless he's traded.
