Hornets' medical staff has determined that Malik Monk is not dealing with a fractured right thumb, and he is being listed as day-to-day.

Monk was misdiagnosed by the doctor on hand in Las Vegas, but it sounds like he's just dealing with a bad sprain. This could still knock him out for Summer League, but he should have a quicker turnaround than the originally reported 6-8 week timetable. Stay tuned.

Donovan Mitchell made 13-of-35 from the field for 31 points with two rebounds, one block, four steals and one 3-pointer during a 113-107 loss in Philly on Friday.

The Philly fans were booing him every time he touched the ball and apparently didn't forget about Mitchell's rookie sweatshirt. His 43.8 usage rate matches his career-high, and perhaps taking just nine shots in a brutal loss to Dallas on Wednesday -- their 68 points was the fewest since 2016. He's been a fantasy letdown to this point, but Mitchell should find his rhythm at some point in the near future.

Tyreke Evans scored a season-high 23 points vs. the Heat on Friday, adding a season-high 10 rebounds with two assists, one block and five triples in 25 minutes.

That snaps a three-game streak of single-digit points. Coach Nate McMillan recently told Evans to stop making the extra pass when he’s wide open, adding that he wants Evans to be more like the player he was in Memphis. "It seems like he’s thinking too much at times out there and not reacting to what is happening," McMillan said. "We need to him to let his instincts take over. I trust his instincts." Victor Oladipo took it a step further, jokingly telling Evans to stop trying to be John Stockton. If tonight was an indication, it sure looks like Evans got the message.
Nov 16 - 9:52 PM

D'Angelo Russell scored 23 points with three rebounds, six assists, two steals, four turnovers and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes against the Wizards during a 115-104 victory on Friday.

He had his best scoring quarter of the season with 13 points in the first quarter. He and Spencer Dinwiddie both had it working with 20-plus points each for the first time this season, and that will be a recipe for Brooklyn's success until Caris LeVert (foot) gets back. Russell now has a big chance to dominate the first-unit touches with some lower-usage guys around him and he's almost a lock to close games, so he should start to trend up in a noticeable way.
Nov 16 - 9:50 PM

Jarrett Allen returned from a two-game absence with 16 points, 12 rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 32 minutes against the Wizards on Friday.

Make it four double-doubles in 14 games this year to match his total from 72 games last year. His 12 rebounds were also a season-high and that stat will keep him on coach Kenny Atkinson's good side. Allen was starting to get into a groove before he was sick earlier this week, so his fantasy owners can probably expect scoring in the low teens, close to 10 boards and around two blocks per game. The second-year big man could improve as the season goes along, too.
Nov 16 - 9:50 PM

Spencer Dinwiddie dominated off the bench against the Wizards on Friday, matching a season-high 25 points with four rebounds, eight assists, three steals and three 3-pointers in 31 minutes.

He's arguably the biggest beneficiary from the Caris LeVert (foot) injury with added usage, and more importantly minutes. Dinwiddie is now likely to close the vast majority of games and he did play next to D'Angelo Russell for 11 minutes in the last game, which was up from eight before the last one. Dinwiddie should be viewed as a must-start player going forward.
Nov 16 - 9:46 PM

Dwight Howard filled it up during a 115-104 loss to the Nets on Friday, scoring 25 points with 17 boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 27 minutes.

He posted season-highs in points and boards before fouling out. The Wizards are a total mess right now, but at least Howard is helping them after their pathetic effort on the boards to start the year. He looks healthy and he should improve, but the Wizards aren't as eager to throw the ball into him like he's seen in years past.
Nov 16 - 9:44 PM

Josh Richardson scored 28 points (10-of-16 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs) with two assists, four rebounds, one steal and a career-high tying seven triples in Friday's 99-91 loss to Indiana.

Entering Friday’s game, the Heat were 20.3 points per 100 possessions better with Richardson on the court, the best mark in the East. The rising star is having an incredible season as Miami’s leader on both ends and is on pace for his second straight early-round finish in category leagues. He'll look to get his team back on track vs. the Lakers on Sunday.
Nov 16 - 9:22 PM

Elfrid Payton (fractured left pinky finger) will not return on Friday night.

That's not good and he will likely need to miss time with this injury. We should have more details on how bad the fracture is, but most finger fractures require 4-6 weeks on the sidelines. With him out, the Pelicans may have to look at Ian Clark, Wes Johnson and Frank Jackson for minutes, but none of those guys are adds in most leagues.
Nov 16 - 9:04 PM

OG Anunoby (right wrist) will not return against the Celtics on Friday.

That's not good for the Raptors, who are already without C.J. Miles and Norman Powell. Pascal Siakam is going to get all he can handle while Malachi Richardson could enter the rotation. OG scored five points in nine minutes tonight.
Nov 16 - 8:34 PM

Zach LaVine (illness) is battling a cold and coach Fred Hoiberg said he will monitor his minutes against the Bucks on Friday.

LaVine went through a full shootaround this morning, so it sounds like he'll be giving it a full go. It's a tough matchup for him with how well the Bucks protect the paint, so he has a tall task in front of him.
Nov 16 - 8:31 PM

Elfrid Payton (ankle) will start against the Knicks on Friday night.

He went through warmups and he felt good this morning. The Pelicans may not up his playing time too much in a back-to-back set starting tonight, so he may be in the upper 20s for playing time. Wes Johnson will move to the bench while Darius Miller could lose some playing time. Jrue Holiday was also cold before the Payton injury, but he shouldn't be affected now that he's found his groove.
