Jusuf Nurkic went hard in the paint during Thursday's overtime win over Charlotte, finishing with 24 points, 14 rebounds, one assist, two steals and four blocks in 33 minutes.

This was a solid bounce-back performance for Nurkic, who struggled through 26 minutes of action on Monday, and the Blazers did a nice job of getting him involved early on. He went to work against Dwight Howard in the post, fearlessly attacking him on offense and giving him the business on the defensive end of the floor. He did, unfortunately, cough up the rock seven times, but it's tough to complain much when he's offering up stat lines like these.

J.R. Smith (elbow) will not play against the Wolves on Friday.

Oct 19 - 7:35 PM

Marc Gasol (back) is on the active list for Friday's game vs. Atlanta.

This doesn't mean it's a lock that he will play, as he's still considered a game-time call. We'll have another update shortly. We're also awaiting word on JaMychal Green (knee, probable).
Oct 19 - 7:27 PM

De'Aaron Fox, Yogi Ferrell, Buddy Hield, Nemanja Bjelica and Willie Cauley-Stein will start against the Pelicans on Friday.

It's the Kings listing starters and they're about as reliable as cell service on a desert island. This is the group that started in the opener, so maybe they will go with it. Maybe they won't. Bjelica did play well with 18 points in the opener, so he could be a nice short-term add.
Oct 19 - 7:23 PM

D'Angelo Russell, Caris LeVert, Joe Harris, Jared Dudley and Jarrett Allen will start against the Knicks on Friday.

It's the same lineup and the Nets will bring Allen Crabbe of the bench in his return. Harris is likely going to lose some minutes with Crabbe back, but Caris LeVert will be getting a full workload again.
Oct 19 - 7:03 PM

Russell Westbrook (knee) has been ruled out for Friday against the Clippers.

He was listed as out, but the team left a small window open that he would make his debut. However, Westbrook has done mostly controlled contact in practice and this is his fourth right knee surgery he's recovering from, so he should miss additional time. Dennis Schroder is almost a must-start option in DFS while Paul George should be firing away all game with what should be a usage rate close to 35 -- it was 35 in the second half on Tuesday.
Oct 19 - 6:40 PM

Larry Nance (ankle) will not play against the Wolves on Friday.

His ankle sprain last week didn't sound minor and now it'll cost him at least one week. With Nance out, that should mean Kevin Love will play more center, which could open up a few minutes for Sam Dekker, Ante Zizic and the guards.
Oct 19 - 6:35 PM

Serge Ibaka will replace Jonas Valanciunas in the starting lineup on Friday vs. Boston.

Toronto's lineups will be fluid based on matchups, and coach Nick Nurse has been pretty transparent about it so far. Kyle Lowry, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and Paskal Siakam are the other four starters. Ibaka is a low-end to mid-tier play in a tough matchup vs. Al Horford.
Oct 19 - 6:21 PM

Marc Gasol (back) will be a game-time decision against the Hawks on Friday.

Hopefully the Grizzlies aren't tanking before Halloween, but Gasol did look hobbled on Wednesday and he's at age 33. This is probably a discouraging sign for anyone who grabbed him in the first four rounds, but maybe he can shake it off. If he can't go, we could get a very long look at Jaren Jackson Jr., who looked great on Wednesday and should get over 30 minutes. JJJ could trend up in a hurry.
Oct 19 - 6:19 PM

Mitchell Robinson (ankle) will play on Friday against the Nets.

Robinson appeared in the Knicks season opener, but only played two minutes before exiting. They dominated and were up big in the second half, so it looks like they were just being cautious with their rookie center. Hopefully he sees more playing time on Friday. For now, he's just a stash in deeper leagues.
Oct 19 - 6:09 PM

Courtney Lee (neck) is out again on Friday night against the Nets.

His neck issue has kept him limited since last month and he could miss additional time. Coach David Fizdale has shifted Frank Ntilikina to a straight wing with all of his minutes next to a point guard, so Franky Smokes will likely have that role for a while. Lee is not likely to start all season while Frank doesn't offer much upside because he won't handle the ball much.
Oct 19 - 6:05 PM

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (personal, groin) will not play on Friday against the Knicks.

The good news for RHJ is he welcomed his baby boy to the world today, but maybe his adductor is still bothering him. Coach Kenny Atkinson said he isn't sure if he will bring Hollis-Jefferson back to speed quickly, but it'll likely be a while based on how much time he missed. With him out, Jared Dudley figures to start again with a little Treveon Graham and Rodions Kurucs at forward behind Caris LeVert and co. Dudley could be a DFS play based on minutes in the 30s and just missing shots in the opener.
