Zach LaVine played a season-high 31 minutes during a 113-103 loss to the Clippers on Saturday, scoring 21 points with nine rebounds, four assists, one steal, no turnovers and three 3-pointers.

He hit 30 minutes a lot faster than expected and he now has two straight games with 20-plus points. LaVine has yet to play in a back-to-back set, but maybe he does get a chance for playing on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10. It's been so far, so good for those who stashed him all season.
Feb 3 - 6:09 PM

Zach Collins swatted six shots against the Lakers on Thursday, adding six points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 26 minutes.

Coach Terry Stotts was very shy about playing Collins at the five in the preseason, but not this time as he protected the rim as the Lakers kept looking for layups. The Blazers let Ed Davis walk in hopes Collins could take a step forward in his sophomore season, and they're undoubtedly pleased with his season debut tonight. He'll likely have a bumpy ride this season, but his blocking upside puts him on the radar in competitive leagues.
Oct 19 - 1:40 AM

Nik Stauskas caught fire in the first half and closed in the fourth against the Lakers on Thursday, scoring 24 points with two rebounds, two assists, one steal and five 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

Sauce Castillo hit four 3-pointers in the first half and his strong play gave coach Terry Stotts the confidence to use him down the stretch. It's not going to be easy for Stauskas to get minutes consistently because he is likely going to backup C.J. McCollum, and Moe Harkless should start to see more minutes at the three, too. For now, he's really only worth an add if you're dropping dead weight.
Oct 19 - 1:39 AM

LeBron James scored 26 points in a 128-119 loss to the Blazers on Thursday, adding 12 rebounds, six assists, one steal, six turnovers and no 3-pointers in 37 minutes.

The big story for the Lakers today was missing the first 15 attempts from deep, and secondly the preseason pace talk also came to fruition with a 111.8 pace in this loss. Thanks to some dunks, LeBron scored 13 points in the first quarter for his highest opening quarter since his rookie season. If LeBron plays 37 minutes per game at this pace, he'll be hanging some massive stat lines all season. He'll look for his first Laker win against the Rockets on Saturday.
Oct 19 - 1:36 AM

Josh Hart scored 20 points with four rebounds, one assist, three steals, two blocks and three 3-pointers in 27 minutes against the Blazers on Thursday.

He's good and that red-hot run in Las Vegas was no fluke. The Lakers do not have enough shooters around LeBron James and it's making more sense to elevate Hart to the starting lineup. Hart has shown he's capable of adding stats in any column, the Lakers pace suits him remarkably well, and he did get most of the minutes down the stretch. Hart should be owned in all leagues.
Oct 19 - 1:30 AM

Josh Richardson made 8-of-21 from the field for 28 points with four rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and five 3-pointers in 38 minutes during a 113-112 win over the Wizards on Thursday.

He set a career-high 21 attempts last night and he met that today. Richardson was among the non-PG league leaders for time of possession on the ball in the busy Wednesday, and it's obvious coach Erik Spoelstra wants J-Rich to be an offensive star on this team. He's also played 38 minutes in each of his two games, so his upside looks to be even higher than the third-round value he put up last year.
Oct 18 - 11:55 PM

Rodney McGruder had a career night against the Wizards on Thursday, scoring 20 points with eight rebounds, six assists, one block and three 3-pointers.

McGruder don't play like homie, and homie don't play like that. He set career marks in points and dimes, and matched his best output in boards. McGruder is going to be in the best spot he's been in all season with about half of the Heat wing depth out, but Justise Winslow and Wayne Ellington should be back soon. He is coach Erik Spoelstra's go-to guy when the Heat are missing players, so he could be worth a deep stream until the Heat are healthy. Congrats to anyone who used him in DFS or as a stream.
Oct 18 - 11:44 PM

Ben Simmons scored 13 points with 13 rebounds, 11 assists, one steal and two blocks in 34 minutes during a 127-108 win over the Bulls on Thursday.

It's nice to play the Bulls and this is his third trip-dub in four tries, but it's obvious Ben is going to create in this offense. He came into tonight leading the league in total touches and he had a whopping 27 potential assists against the Celtics, so he'll be getting double-digit dimes in most of his friendly matchups like this one. He'll get another good matchup against the Magic on Saturday, so his owners can set the bar high for that one.
Oct 18 - 11:06 PM

Joel Embiid could not be stopped in 33 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday, scoring 30 points with 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal, four blocks and two turnovers.

He came out like gangbusters with 12 points in the first five minutes, and Embiid has started his season with back-to-back 20-10 games -- 31 in his career. Coach Brett Brown said in the opener that he wants to get the ball into the post, so clearly Embiid is going to dominate in scoring after his NBA-high usage rate in the preseason. He'll be a monster all year and will likely feast against the Magic on Saturday.
Oct 18 - 11:04 PM

Markelle Fultz started and came off the bench to start the third quarter again, making 5-of-15 from the field for 12 points with four rebounds, five assists, two steal and one 3-pointer in 32 minutes.

This was a bit of a garbage time special as Fultz ran the O while Ben Simmons was off the court late. That aside, Wells Fargo Center cheers Fultz when he takes any perimeter shot, and the place exploded when he hit a trey in a game that was a blowout. Fultz still isn't looking comfortable as a scorer and he's not going to handle the ball much when Ben Simmons is out there, so his owners may need to exercise a lot of patience. It might be a while.
Oct 18 - 11:02 PM

Robert Covington scored 20 points with five rebounds, two assists, two steals, one block and four 3-pointers in 29 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday.

His dud against the Celtics was hardly a surprise after he continues to struggle against them, but he was able to put up a big Lord RoCo-type line in one of the most favorable matchups for wings. He's essentially in an identical role as last year and he may be a step up in the pecking order to space the floor because he's not getting as many minutes next to J.J. Redick. He'll be just fine in standard leagues.
Oct 18 - 11:00 PM

Zach LaVine scored 30 points with five rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes during a 127-108 loss in Philly on Thursday.

While he's going to give up a lot of points, he is going to score a lot for this team. LaVine had a 31.6 usage rate in the preseason and he's almost looking like a lock to flirt with a 28-plus usage rate on a team lacking on-ball scoring, so it's not a stretch to say LaVine has a shot at 25 points per game. The blocks are a fluke and he'll have some efficiency issues, but LaVine is going to be a valuable piece in points leagues and should produce at least mid-round value in standard leagues.
