The Pelicans expect Solomon Hill (hamstring surgery) to return this season, but he remains out indefinitely.

"Have to let it play out," said coach Alvin Gentry, when asked about Hill's potential return. "He's still got a ways to go before he's able to get back on the court and actually play." Given Hill is only running, shooting, and lifting weights and not participating in any team activities, we're not expecting him to return to be any kind of fantasy factor. At this time, a return as early as February is conceivable, but he could also be out far longer than that. Given the uncertainty, there's no reason to touch him in any fantasy format.

Spencer Dinwiddie had one of the most impressive games down the stretch during a 145-142 overtime win over the Rockets on Wednesday, scoring 33 points with two rebounds, 10 assists and four 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

It was one of the most clutch stretches of the year with Dinwiddie hitting three 3-pointers in the final 26 seconds to send this game to OT. In the last minute of games with the score within five, Dinwiddie has a 69.6 TS% on a 36.0 usage rate over a 14-minute sample. Dinwiddie is just the second player in NBA history to register two 30-point, 10-assist games off the bench in a season (Jamal Crawford), and this virtuoso performance has to put him back at the top of the Sixth Man of the Year standings after a slump to start 2019. He should be owned in standard leagues.
Jan 17 - 12:07 AM

Jarrett Allen dominated inside against the Rockets on Wednesday, grabbing a career-high 24 boards with 20 points, two assists and three blocks in 43 minutes.

The minutes were a career-high and just the third time he's even been over 35 in his career. Allen had a mouse in the house most of the game and took full advantage as the Rockets went without a center for majority of the game. It was his first 20-20 of his NBA career, and Allen's rebounding has improved lately with at least 12 in three straight. Plus, the blocks are also back and he's coming off another big game on Monday with 19, 12 and four swats. Allen has been a top-20 player in standard leagues over his eight 2019 games, so big things could be ahead for the second-year big man.
Jan 17 - 12:00 AM

DeMarre Carroll scored a season-high 22 points with five rebounds, one assist and four 3-pointers in 35 minutes against the Rockets on Wednesday.

His minutes are way up in the last two with 33 against the Celtics on Monday. Carroll may start to see his minutes take a hit as Rondae Hollis-Jefferson's minutes ramp up. He could be worth a look in deeper leagues, but the Nets likely won't totally unleash him with minutes because of his injury history.
Jan 16 - 11:29 PM

James Harden did his thing again during a 145-143 overtime loss to the Nets Wednesday, scoring a season-high 58 points with 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block, four turnovers and five 3-pointers in 45 minutes.

He was 16-of-34 from the field with all of those buckets coming unassisted, and he wasn't assisted at all either in the 57-point game on Monday. Harden went 5-of-19 from deep as the Rockets set the record for most 3-point attempts in a game with 70 (!) in his tough loss. This was his 18th straight game with 30-plus points to tie him with Elgin Baylor for fifth-longest streak with only Wilt Chamberlain's four different streaks ahead of him. Harden also joins Wilt as the only players with consecutive 55-plus scoring games. He's on one of the most ridiculous scoring streaks and is not getting much help as he makes a case for MVP.
Jan 16 - 11:27 PM

Al Horford scored a season-high 24 points on Wednesday, making 9-of-12 field goals and 3-of-3 free throws with seven rebounds, three 3-pointers and two blocks in 34 minutes.

That's the most points Horford has scored since Game 1 vs. the Sixers in the playoffs last season. He's playing just 27.8 minutes per game this season, but is still humming along with averages of 11.6 points (50.0% FGs, 73.7% FTs), 1.1 triples, 6.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.4 blocks and 0.8 steals. Owners in 9-cat leagues also benefit from his stingy 1.5 turnovers per game.
Jan 16 - 11:04 PM

Kawhi Leonard posted 33 points (10-of-19 FGs, 11-of-11 FTs) with four rebounds, four steals and two assists in 37 minutes vs. Boston on Wednesday.

In his previous six games, Kawhi averaged 31.3 points on 57.8% shooting, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.8 steals, 1.7 triples and 0.5 blocks. He made 7.3 free throws per game in that span and has been to the line 7.6 times per game this season, easily setting a new career high. He's also scored at least 20 points in 20 straight games, the longest stretch in the NBA this season and the longest for Toronto since Vince Carter (23 straight). He's an absolute beast.
Jan 16 - 10:59 PM

Andre Drummond hit a layup to send Wednesday's game into overtime, finishing an eventual 120-115 win with 14 points, 22 rebounds, one assist and one block.

Drummond was 7-of-15 from the field but he didn't get to the free-throw line, which is a plus for fantasy owners. He also grabbed 11 of his boards on the offensive end, a bonus for owners with more unique league settings, and leads the league in that category -- the next-closest players are Clint Capela, Steven Adams, Tristan Thompson and Enes Kanter. He's been fantastic in all the right areas for owners.
Jan 16 - 10:16 PM

Blake Griffin led the Pistons to a home win on Wednesday with 30 points, five assists, four rebounds and two blocks, making 11-of-18 FGs and 7-of-10 FTs.

Asked before the game about his team's postseason chances, Pistons coach Dwane Casey said, "We’re serious about being a playoff team ... [Wednesday] we’re looking at a team we’re in a dogfight with. How we come out tonight will determine a lot about who we are." His team proceeded to win an overtime game, led by key performances from Blake, Andre Drummond and the second unit, which bodes well for the team's veterans. Just keep an eye on the standings.
Jan 16 - 10:15 PM

Nikola Vucevic had 24 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two 3-pointers and one steal in a losing effort on Wednesday, shooting 11-of-22 from the field vs. Detroit.

Magic coach Steve Clifford said before the game that whether his team becomes 'buyers' or 'sellers' before the trade deadline "will depend on how we play." Fantasy owners relying on guys like Vucevic should be rooting for more victories to keep Orlando in the "buyers" camp, which would lead to more playing time and fewer DNPs for the team's productive veterans. Aaron Gordon (12 points, eight rebounds) is also in that category, but Vuc and D.J. Augustin (13 points, seven assists in 32 minutes) might be the players most vulnerable to late-season tanking.
Jan 16 - 10:08 PM

Damian Lillard (right hand) is available to play against the Cavs on Wednesday.

He was questionable to play for this game, but not surprisingly Dame will be suiting up for this one. He plays through most injuries, and we'll see if this issue affects his shooting. He should be in all lineups and could go off against one of the worst defenses in the league.
Jan 16 - 9:16 PM

Rudy Gay (wrist) will start on Wednesday against the Mavs.

He's back after 10 days on the sidelines from a nagging wrist injury. It looked like Gay was able to play through his wrist injury back on Jan. 5, so the Spurs may have been cautious. His return means fewer minutes for Marco Belinelli, Patty Mills, Davis Bertans and Jakob Poeltl. Gay should be owned in all leagues.
