Tyler Lydon has been sent down for a G-League stint.

Even with injuries to Paul Millsap (wrist) and Nikola Jokic (ankle), Lydon has not been able to get into the rotation, so he'll go down to the G-League for some minutes.

Zach LaVine scored 30 points with five rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes during a 127-108 loss in Philly on Thursday.

While he's going to give up a lot of points, he is going to score a lot for this team. LaVine had a 31.6 usage rate in the preseason and he's almost looking like a lock to flirt with a 28-plus usage rate on a team lacking on-ball scoring, so it's not a stretch to say LaVine has a shot at 25 points per game. The blocks are a fluke and he'll have some efficiency issues, but LaVine is going to be a valuable piece in points leagues and should produce at least mid-round value in standard leagues.
Oct 18 - 10:56 PM

Bobby Portis started out on fire against the 76ers on Thursday, scoring 20 points with 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, no turnovers and three 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

He made all five shots in the first quarter for a quick 13 points, but did fizzle out a little in the second half. Portis finds himself in an optimal position to produce with most of his frontcourt mates unable to get their own shots, and it'll help that Jabari Parker had a terrible debut. He will likely be peaking to start the year with Lauri Markkanen (elbow) out, but Portis will be a must-start player in all formats until around Thanksgiving.
Oct 18 - 10:52 PM

Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, Jake Layman, Al-Farouq Aminu and Jusuf Nurkic are listed as the starters against the Lakers on Thursday.

If you're new to the Blazers, the old "listed as starter" could be misleading, but this looks like the best bet with Moe Harkless (knee) not 100 percent. Layman had some good run in the preseason and could get around 24 minutes. He could be a stream or DFS punt play tonight.
Oct 18 - 9:57 PM

Dwight Howard (sore lower back) will sit out Thursday's game vs. Miami.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Dwight "still needs more practice time" before making his season debut. Ian Mahinmi should have a full workload tonight and the Wizards haven't been shy about using Markieff Morris at center, either, which makes both guys viable in DFS.
Oct 18 - 6:09 PM

JaMychal Green (left knee soreness) is probable for Friday's game vs. the Hawks.

Green was fine for the Grizzlies' opener with nine points and seven boards in 25 minutes, despite dealing with a sore shoulder. The knee injury is new but the fact that he's probable suggests it isn't serious. If he does eventually miss time, Jaren Jackson Jr. could find himself in a starting role sooner than expected.
Oct 18 - 4:56 PM

Julius Randle (left foot plantar fasciitis) is listed as probable for Friday's game vs. the Kings.

It's nice to see that he's probable to play, but fantasy owners never want to hear the words 'plantar fasciitis' associated with guys they own. It's an injury that requires rest and the only good news is that this is the first we've heard of it, and Randle looked great in the season opener on Wednesday. Just sit tight as we await more information.
Oct 18 - 4:08 PM

Wayne Ellington (ankle) is being listed as questionable for Thursday's matchup with the Wizards.

Ellington missed all of camp and the first game of the season with that sore left ankle, and we'd expect that pattern to hold for tonight's game. Justise Winslow (hamstring) is doubtful and both Dion Waiters (ankle) and James Johnson (hernia) have already been ruled out, so Josh Richardson could again be flirting with 40 minutes tonight.
Oct 18 - 1:37 PM

Justise Winslow (right hamstring) is doubtful to play in Thursday's game against the Wizards.

Today's game will be the second of a back-to-back set, meaning the Heat haven't had any additional practice time since Wednesday, so it wouldn't anticipate having Winslow available tonight. Derrick Jones Jr. and Rodney McGruder will see an uptick in minutes with Winslow and James Johnson (hernia) out, but neither of those guys are an attractive option in most leagues.
Oct 18 - 1:34 PM

James Johnson (hernia) will not suit up for Thursday's game against the Wizards, as expected.

Johnson still needs to get in a few more practices before the Heat will be comfortable throwing him out there, so for now, we'll be considering him doubtful for Saturday's game against the Hornets. With Johnson unavailable, Justise Winslow (hamstring) doubtful and Wayne Ellington (ankle) questionable, Josh Richardson will again get all the run he can handle and there will be more minutes for Kelly Olynyk and Derrick Jones Jr.
Oct 18 - 1:28 PM

Delon Wright (groin) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice and is questionable to play Friday vs. the Celtics.

Wright is making progress, but considering he still hasn't gone through any full-contact, 5-on-5 work, we wouldn't expect to see him take the floor on Friday night. Fred VanVleet should be able to flirt with minutes in the mid-20s while Wright is out.
Oct 18 - 1:07 PM

Dwight Howard (back) was a full participant at Thursday's shootaround and is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's season opener vs. Miami.

D12 was spotted going through contact work with Thomas Bryant well after shootaround ended, and he's been able to practice four days in a row, so things are trending in a positive direction regarding his status for tonight's opener against Miami. If he is able to play, he'll likely be dealing with a minutes limit, so he's not the most attractive DFS target. Ian Mahinmi won't be worth using in most leagues if Howard is active.
