The Wizards have waived C Daniel Ochefu.

Ochefu wasn't a rotation player in Washington last season, and that would have held true this year, particularly with Ian Mahinmi healthy. There aren't any fantasy implications here.

JaVale McGee hit 7-of-11 shots and 2-of-3 free throws for 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and five more blocks in 20 minutes of Saturday's loss to the Rockets.

OK then! McGee backed up his opening-night line of 13 points, eight boards and three blocks with tonight's gem, and he's starting to look very real. If you picked up Boban Marjanovic recently, or are in need of a center, it's time to grab McGee. It's a small sample, but the role looks stable and he's jelling well with his teammates. Go get him.

Rajon Rondo took exception to Chris Paul trying to gouge his eyeballs out, and threw a punch at Paul during a fourth-quarter melee on Saturday, causing both players (and Brandon Ingram) to be ejected.

Paul and Rondo were arguing after Brandon Ingram shoved James Harden in frustration and a fight broke out. Rondo was really just defending himself after CP3 went after his face, but he threw a punch. Suspensions are coming and we're guessing Rondo will get fewer games off than Ingram and Paul. Rondo finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and a 3-pointer, and hit 6-of-8 shots on the night.
Oct 21 - 1:12 AM

Brandon Ingram was ejected for throwing a punch in the second half on Saturday.

He has a big suspension coming his way here. Ingram was in an altercation with James Harden, he walked away, and then came back into the scuffle and threw punches. If it's under three games, it would be a surprise and it may even be closer to 10, so Ingram's fantasy owners should be planning on not having him this week.

Chris Paul put his fingers in Rajon Rondo's face and pushed him violently, causing Rondo to react with a punch, which Paul followed up with a punch of his own, causing both players to be ejected on Saturday. Brandon Ingram, who also hit Paul with a punch and started the melee by shoving James Harden, was also ejected with about four minutes left in the game.

Suspensions are coming for all three players and Paul's and Ingram's will be the longest. Paul had 28 points, seven boards, 10 assists, a steal and three 3-pointers before departing, but unfortunately for his owners, he's about to get some time off.

Blake Griffin scored 33 points with 12 rebounds, five assists, no turnovers and five 3-pointers in 35 minutes against the Bulls during a 118-116 win on Saturday.

He's off to a great start with this one and a 26/8/6 line in the opener, but of course these games came against the Bulls and Nets. Still, Griffin looked poised for a bounce-back season after subpar 2017-18 season. Plus, Griffin is among the league leaders for time of possession, excluding point guards. He'll be the heart of the Pistons offense.
Oct 21 - 1:03 AM

Derrick Rose was magnificent on Saturday, scoring 28 points (11-of-21 FGs) with five rebounds, five assists, two steals, one block, and two 3-pointers in 32 minutes against the Mavs.

I hope you had D-Rose in your lineup tonight. He looked really good and benefited the most in Jimmy Butler's absence. He was driving and scoring almost like the old D-Rose. He's locked into the sixth man role and will see solid minutes going forward, making him a decent add in deeper leagues. Temper your expectations.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 31 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding five rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, and four 3-pointers in 34 minutes on Saturday against the Mavs.

KAT was much better tonight after struggling mightily in the Wolves first two games. Of course, there was no Jimmy Butler, which opened up a lot of shots for KAT. He struggled with foul trouble, which limited his minutes a bit and kept him from racking up more stats. Don't panic with him, everything will be fine. KAT stands to benefit a good bit from a Butler trade.

Zach LaVine made 12-of-21 from the field for 33 points with three rebounds, three assists and two 3-pointers in 37 minutes against the Pistons during a 118-116 loss on Saturday.

He is not messing around with two 30-point games to start this season. On the year, LaVine has a 32.3 usage rate and a 67.0 TS% for his 31.5 points per game. The most impressive part is that he's 12-of-14 at the rim in these two games, which was also a trend for him in the preseason. Just about every stat on LaVine suggests he is on his way to 25 points per game this year, but the question will be whether or not he can add other stats to go with the high-volume scoring.
Oct 21 - 12:27 AM

Kemba Walker went off yet again during a 113-112 win over the Heat on Saturday, making 14-of-31 from the field for 39 points with five rebounds, seven assists and seven 3-pointers in 40 minutes.

If not for an intentional miss on the last play, Walker would've had both of the NBA's 40-point games. This new offense has taken his game to another level and he surpassed Danilo Gallinari for the most 3-pointers made through three games of a season with 19. Walker's 34.5 usage rate trails only Giannis Antetokounmpo for the league lead, but Walker also boasts a pristine 63.5 TS% to make him the league's leading scorer at 35.3 points per game. He looks poised for a gigantic season in a contract year.

Dennis Smith Jr. hit the game-winner and scored 19 points (7-of-14 FGs, 1-of-6 3PTs) with three rebounds, six assists, and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes against the Wolves on Saturday.

DSJ hit the game-winner with 6 seconds left and then iced it with free throws shortly after. He's still struggling from deep, which is concerning because he shot in the low-30s last year. He'll be playing a bit more off the ball with Luka Doncic in the fold, so hopefully that helps. Still, DSJ showed his worth tonight. He can get his shot whenever he wants, he just needs to hit it consistently.
Oct 21 - 12:07 AM

Nikola Jokic hit 11-of-11 shots, 3-of-3 3-pointers and 10-of-11 free throws for 35 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, four steals and a block in Saturday's 119-91 win over the Suns, and didn't commit a turnover.

The last, and only, player to post a perfect shooting 30-10-10 triple-double was Wilt Chamberlain in 1967. Jokic also joined Fat Lever as the only Nugget to post a triple-double in one of the first two games of the season. It's too bad he missed that free throw. And with Will Barton leaving with a potentially serious hip injury, Jokic's usage rate could even be on the rise. What a night!
