Each year, the season-opening Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire at Daytona Int'l Speedway brings out the best. And it always gets interesting when you mix the brand new rookies among the veterans.

ARCA Racing Series veteran Tom Hessert, last year's General Tire pole winner at Daytona, has seen this movie before. "Experience plays a big role in success at superspeedways like Daytona and Talladega," said Hessert. Making his 185th career ARCA start, Hessert is entered in the No. 55 Venturini Motorsports-prepared Turf Equipment Toyota. The six-time ARCA winner has never won at Daytona; but he was fastest (185.258 mph) among the 60-plus drivers who tested at Daytona in mid-January. The Cherry Hill, N.J. driver also finished fifth in last year's race. He'll be working with crew chief Billy Venturini for the race.

Aric Almirola finished 10th in the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway for his third consecutive top-10 on this track.

Alex Bowman finished ninth in the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway - recording his best result of Round 2.

Bowman had a fourth-place finish on the Charlotte Roval for his best result of that round. A sense of urgency seems to reward this team. Unfortunately, that is gone now that he has been eliminated from the playoffs.

Joey Logano had the most dominant car in the first stage of the Hollywood Casino 400. He was incredibly strong in Stage 2, but he faded at the end to finish eighth.

Logano earned one bonus point for his stage win, but overall his result was disappointing. He realizes that he needs to win in order to advance out of Round 3 and that seems unlikely with Team Penske's current performance.
