Dustin Pedroia (knee) isn't sure if he'll return this season.

Pedroia returned from knee surgery in late May but only lasted a few games before landing back on the disabled list. The veteran recently began rehabbing in Arizona and will be reevaluated in 4-5 weeks. Manager Alex Cora is still holding out hope that Pedroia will return at some point, but the 34-year-old isn't quite as sure. "You can't risk it," said the former MVP. "If I come back too early and the graft fails, then that's it." Obviously the Red Sox, who are currently on pace for 112 victories, have done fine without him. Brock Holt and Eduardo Nunez will continue to fill in at second base.

Aaron Judge (wrist) has returned to the Yankees' starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Huge news for the Yankees. Judge participated in a simulated game for the second straight day on Tuesday, but the assumption was that it would likely be another day or two before he would return to the lineup. So it's a nice surprise for Yankees fans and fantasy owners. Judge is slated to hit second and play right field in his first start since suffering a fracture in his right wrist back on July 26.
Sep 18 - 3:23 PM

Edwin Encarnacion (ankle) remains out of the Indians' lineup Tuesday against the White Sox.

Encarnacion hasn't played since leaving Saturday's game with a mild right ankle sprain. He's still considered day-to-day. Yandy Diaz will serve as the designated hitter Tuesday against left-hander Carlos Rodon.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Trevor Story is facing potential damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

Ouch. The exact diagnosis isn't yet known, but obviously it's a troubling development after Story was forced to leave Monday's game after feeling soreness in his elbow. Even if it's something that doesn't require Tommy John surgery, it's very possible he's done for the year. And it would be a real shame given where the Rockies are and the sort of season Story has had. Stay tuned.

Yankees purchased the contract of LHP Justus Sheffield from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sheffield, 22, has finally arrived in the big leagues after compiling a 2.48 ERA and 123/50 K/BB ratio in 116 innings between Double- and Triple-A this season. The top prospect will join the Yankees' bullpen for now, but he should prepare as a starter next spring. It should be a fun sneak preview, at the very least.
Sep 18 - 10:11 AM

Tuesday's game between the Red Sox and Yankees has been pushed back to 7:05 p.m. ET.

The game was originally scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET, but they don't want to take any chances with rain in the forecast this afternoon in New York. It's expected to clear off by the evening. J.A. Happ will pitch for New York while Nathan Eovaldi will make the start for Boston.
Sep 18 - 9:48 AM

Joc Pederson homered twice while going 3-for-4 with three RBI in an 8-2 win over the Rockies on Monday.

He also doubled. Pederson hit a leadoff homer against an awful Jon Gray in the first, and he homered again off of Harrison Musgrave to extend the Dodgers' lead to 8-0. The pair of blasts give the outfielder 23 homers on the season, and the three RBI give him 53 over his 137 games. Pederson is a flawed player, but the power is legit, and that makes him at least fantasy relevant in deeper formats.
Sep 18 - 1:19 AM

Tyler Glasnow whiffed six batters over six shutout innings in a win over the Rangers on Monday.

Glasnow scattered a pair of singles over six scoreless frames. He was in complete control of his electric arsenal, issuing just a pair of walks in the contest. He was also extremely efficient, throwing 49 of 86 pitches for strikes in this one. The 25-year-old right-hander owns a 1-4 record with a 4.06 ERA and 49/14 K/BB ratio in nine starts since being acquired from the Pirates on July 31. He’ll face the Blue Jays on the road in his next start on Saturday.
Sep 18 - 12:58 AM

Kris Bryant went 2-for-3 with a homer and walk in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Bryant stays hot, and his solo homer off of Randall Delgado is the 12th of the season for the former MVP in 92 games. While he's hit for a high average, this is the first homer for Bryant since he came off the disabled list with his shoulder injury, and the first since July 20. Expect to see Bryant to continue to get stronger as the season finishes, and put a few more balls over the fence over these final two weeks.
Sep 18 - 12:40 AM

Kyle Hendricks went 8 2/3 innings while allowing just one run on three hits with eight strikeouts in a 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Hendrick was sensational, allowing just two players to reach base before the ninth inning when he allowed a solo homer to A.J. Pollock and single to Paul Goldschmidt before exiting. After scuffling in the middle of August, the right-hander is pitching exceptionally well as of late, and his ERA has dropped from 4.11 on August 11 to the 3.58 mark it is on Monday. He should have another strong start on Sunday against the White Sox.
Sep 18 - 12:30 AM

Edwin Diaz pitched a scoreless inning to pick up his 56th save of the season on Monday against the Astros.

Diaz didn't strike anyone out, but it's tough to strike anyone out when you throw just five pitches -- four of them for strikes. Diaz is now just six saves away from tying Francisco Rodriguez's record of 62. There just aren't enough games left to project him to tie or beat the record, but considering how many close games the Mariners seem to play, it's not completely out of the realm of possibilities.
Sep 17 - 11:28 PM

Miles Mikolas earned his 16th win of the season on Monday night against the Braves.

Mikolas struck out six and yielded just one walk. The two runs he gave up came on a home run by Freddie Freeman in the bottom of the third. Mikolas, one of the best signings of the offseason, is 16-4 with a 3.01 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 132/29 K/BB ratio in 185 2/3 innings (30 starts) this year with St. Louis. He'll get the Giants at home next.
