Braves signed OF Jaff Decker to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Decker was outrighted off the Athletics' 40-man roster in late October after batting just .200/.322/.260 with two extra-base hits and 17 strikeouts over 62 major league plate appearances in 2017. He will likely open the 2018 season with the Braves' Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

Logan Morrison hit a bases-loaded, go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning of Sunday's 3-1 win over the Brewers.

With two on and one out, the Brewers opted to intentionally walk Eduardo Escobar to bring up Morrison to face lefty reliever Boone Logan with the bases loaded. LoMo won the battle, lining a single off the right field wall to plate two. Morrison now has 17 RBI to go with a disappointing .211/.318/.376 line in 39 games this year.

Jesus Aguilar homered for the third consecutive game Sunday, but couldn't help the Brewers overcome the Twins.

Aguilar took Twins starter Jake Odorizzi deep in the sixth inning to tie the game at 1-1 -- one of the only hits the Brewers could muster against Odorizzi on the afternoon -- and finished 2-for-4 in the game. The homer was his fourth in his last three games, giving him seven on the year. Few are hotter than the 27-year-old, who's hitting a robust .333/.395/.608 through Sunday's contest.
May 20 - 7:04 PM

Tyler Austin homered twice and drove in four runs as the Yankees pummeled the Royals 10-1 on Sunday.

Austin was a big fan of Royals starter Eric Skoglund, twice victimizing him for two-run homers before the lefty was chased from the contest. Neither one was cheap, either, as he hit one way out to left in the fourth inning before going to straight away center an inning later. Austin has run hot and cold this year, but he's in the midst of a heater at present, having gone 6-for-11 with three homers and seven RBI in his last three games. The hot streak has the 26-year-old's overall line up to .261/.324/.587 with eight homers and 23 RBI through Sunday.
May 20 - 6:00 PM

Reynaldo Lopez dominated the Rangers over eight innings, allowing just two hits en route to a 3-0 win Sunday.

Lopez kept the Rangers off balance all day, mixing high heat with a tight breaking ball in allowing just a single and a double on the afternoon. He also walked two and struck out eight in the victory. It was his first of the year in nine tries, but not for lack of success -- through Sunday, Lopez now owns a 2.98 ERA and 1.16 WHIP on the year. He'll square off with the Tigers his next time out, on Friday.
May 20 - 5:31 PM

Dansby Swanson hit a walk-off two-run single to beat the Marlins 10-9 on Sunday.

The Braves entered the ninth trailing 9-4, and the comeback was completed with a two-run single from Swanson to give Atlanta the victory. It was the only hit of the game for the shortstop, but it's always nice to get run production from your shortstop. On the year, Swanson is hitting .281 with two homers, 16 RBI and a pair of steals over 30 games.
May 20 - 5:26 PM

Christian Villanueva went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in an 8-5 victory over the Pirates on Sunday.

The homer gives Villanueva 12 on the season, and this one came off of Trevor Williams in the fourth inning to give the Padres a 2-1 lead. The hits haven't fallen like they were early in the season, but the 26-year-old infielder has still posted an impressive line of .250/.322/.568 along with the dozen homers and 26 RBI over 39 games. It also makes back-to-back games with homers on the season, so another streak could be coming.
May 20 - 5:07 PM

J.D. Martinez homered twice in a 5-0 blanking of the Orioles on Sunday.

Martinez also drew a walk. The first homer was a solo shot off of Baltimore starter David Hess, and he got Hess again with a runner on in the fifth. He now has 15 blasts on the season, and his three runs batted have him sitting at 41 on the season. Simply put, Martinez is one of the best offensive players in baseball, and he's proven as much so far in 2018.
May 20 - 4:51 PM

Daniel Mengden pitched seven shutout innings while allowing only two hits in a 9-2 rout of the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Mengden only struck out two, but he also only allowed three baserunners, and he made it look easy against the Toronto lineup. The 25-year-old right-hander has been one of the better surprises in the American League this year, and he’s given up one run or fewer in five of his last seven starts. His WHIP in 2018 now sits at 1.08, and his 38/6 strikeout-to-walk ratio is even more impressive. He’s an intriguing streaming option against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
May 20 - 4:32 PM

Yu Darvish allowed just one run on two hits while striking out seven in a 6-1 win over the Reds on Sunday.

Darvish struggled out of the gate with his command, and it didn’t look like it would be a long outing for the right-hander after he allowed a run in a laboring first. He didn’t give up a run for the rest of the game, and he kept the Cincinnati lineup off balance all afternoon. The strong start lowers Darvish’s ERA to 4.95, and the seven strikeouts give him 49 in 40 innings. He’ll be back on the bump on Sunday against the Giants.
May 20 - 4:15 PM

Amed Rosario homered twice in a 4-1 victory over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The first homer was a solo shot off of Clay Buchholz -- the only run he allowed on the game -- and Rosario homered again off of Jorge De La Rosa an inning later to give him two on the game and two on the season. The 22-year-old shortstop has not been exceptional with the bat in 2018, and even with the two homers his line still sits at a disappointing .248/.273/.368 on the season. Don't expect many more homers this year, but this could (hopefully) begin a strong run for the second-year shortstop.
May 20 - 4:00 PM

Alex Wood departed Sunday's start against the Nationals with an apparent injury.

Wood was warming up prior to the bottom of the seventh inning and called the trainer out. He walked off the field after a brief conversation. Wood has dealt with cramping recently and it was a hot day in Washington, D.C., so perhaps that's all this is. The Dodgers should update his status soon.
