Mets signed INF/OF Ty Kelly to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Kelly has spent some time with the Mets each of the previous two seasons. The 29-year-old utility player is a career .211/.297/.340 over 176 plate appearances in the majors.

Roberto Osuna surrendered five earned runs in the eighth inning Tuesday as the Astros lost ALCS Game 3 to the Red Sox.

Pitching for the first time in 10 days, Osuna yielded two singles, hit two batters, and then gave up a grand slam to Jackie Bradley as the Red Sox busted the game wide open and ultimately took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series. Osuna, who served a 75-game suspension earlier this year under MLB's domestic violence policy, was booed by the Minute Maid Park crowd as he walked back to the dugout.

Nathan Eovaldi held the Astros to two runs over six innings to notch a win in Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday.

Eovaldi allowed a run on three singles in a 26-pitch first inning, but he registered pitch counts of 18, 12, 9, 16, and 11 in the frames that followed as the Red Sox beat the Astros by a score of 8-2 and went up 2-1 in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series. Eovaldi scattered six hits and two walks while striking out four. The impending free agent right-hander is earning himself a fat offseason paycheck.

Jackie Bradley Jr. belted a grand slam as the Red Sox beat the Astros 8-2 in Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday.

Bradley's four-run shot in the top of the eighth inning off Roberto Osuna broke the game wide open for the Red Sox and helped put them up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series. JBJ was 1-for-17 with seven strikeouts in bases-loaded situations during the regular season, but he hit a go-ahead three-run double off Gerrit Cole in Game 2 of the ALCS on Sunday and the glove-first outfielder embarrassed Osuna and the host Astros on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.

Brian Dozier will start at second base and hit fifth in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday versus the Brewers.

It's the first start of the playoffs for Dozier, who struggled mightily down the final stretch of the regular season. Enrique Hernandez is in center field and David Freese is at third base, with Cody Bellinger riding the pine against Brewers left-hander Gio Gonzalez. Here is the full Game 4 lineup for the host Dodgers: Chris Taylor LF, Justin Turner 3B, David Freese 1B, Manny Machado SS, Brian Dozier 2B, Enrique Hernandez CF, Yasiel Puig RF, Austin Barnes C, Rich Hill SP.
Oct 16 - 5:42 PM

Jonathan Schoop is starting at second base and batting sixth in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday night against the Dodgers.

It'll be the first action of the series for Schoop. Travis Shaw is on the bench, with Mike Moustakas playing third base and Jesus Aguilar at first base. Here is the full lineup for the Brewers, who are going up against left-hander Rich Hill: Lorenzo Cain CF, Christian Yelich RF, Ryan Braun LF, Jesus Aguilar 1B, Mike Moustakas 3B, Jonathan Schoop 2B, Manny Pina C, Orlando Arcia SS, Gio Gonzalez SP.
Oct 16 - 5:32 PM

Rafael Devers is not in the starting lineup for Game 3 of the ALCS against the Astros on Tuesday.

Not a surprise, even after a productive Game 2, as the Astros have lefty Dallas Keuchel on the mound. Eduardo Núñez will start at the hot corner while Christian Vázquez will catch Nathan Eovaldi. The full lineup for Boston: Mookie Betts RF, Andrew Benintendi LF, J.D. Martinez DH, Xander Bogaerts SS, Steve Pearce 1B, Núñez 3B, Ian Kinsler 2B, Vázquez C, Jackie Bradley Jr. CF,
Oct 16 - 1:18 PM

Jose Altuve will serve as the designated hitter for Game 3 of the ALCS against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Altuve was bothered by a right knee injury during the season and it's still an issue, so the hope is to get him off his feet a bit. With Altuve sliding to the DH spot, Marwin Gonzalez will start at second base while Tony Kemp will play left field. Brian McCann is behind the plate. The full lineup for Houston: George Springer CF, Altuve DH, Alex Bregman 3B, Yuli Gurriel 1B, Gonzalez 2B, Josh Reddick RF, Carlos Correa SS, McCann C, Kemp LF.
Oct 16 - 1:09 PM

Gio Gonzalez will start for the Brewers in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday.

He'll be on short rest, but Gonzalez threw just 32 pitches last Friday when he allowed one run over one inning in Game 1. It will be an all hands on deck situation again in Game 4, and while manager Craig Counsell would surely prefer not to use six relievers again, he should have everyone available.
Oct 15 - 11:40 PM

Jhoulys Chacin held the Dodgers scoreless over 5 1/3 innings of work Monday in the Brewers’ 4-0 NLCS Game 3 win.

Walker Buehler certainly had the flashier stuff in this pitching matchup, but Chacin managed to keep the Dodgers off balance all night with a bunch of sliders and well-placed fastballs. The biggest jam he had to pitch out of came in the second inning when he got back-to-back strikeouts to escape a bases-loaded situation. Chacin yielded just three hits and two walks on the night and struck out six before handing it off to the Brewers’ bullpen, which came through again led by Corey Knebel and Josh Hader. The Brewers will start Gio Gonzalez in Game 4 as they try to take a 3-1 series lead.
Oct 15 - 11:36 PM

Austin Barnes will start at catcher for the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLCS on Tuesday.

Yasmani Grandal had another nightmarish showing in Game 3 on Monday, getting charged with a passed ball and also failing to corral another ball in the dirt when a run scored on a wild pitch. He also struck out with the bases loaded in the ninth inning. Barnes went 0-for-3 but drew a bases-loaded walk in Game 2.
Oct 15 - 11:24 PM

Orlando Arcia slugged a two-run home run Monday in the Brewers' NLCS Game 3 victory over the Dodgers.

The Brewers were nursing a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning before Arcia followed a one-out Erik Kratz double with an opposite-field shot that just cleared the right-field wall. He's now gone deep in three of his last four postseason games, matching his home run total from the regular season (over 119 games). Not bad for a guy who was optioned to the minors on two occasions this season.
