Blue Jays acquired OF Randal Grichuk from the Cardinals for RHPs Dominic Leone and Conner Greene.

Grichuk has just about as much raw power as anyone in the game and has banged out 46 home runs over the last two seasons, but he sports only a career .249/.297/.488 batting line and has been awfully inconsistent. Still, this is a good move for him for fantasy purposes, as he's expected to get regular playing time in right field in Toronto and will be playing in a much more hitter-friendly home park. Grichuk is under team control through 2020.

Ronald Acuna Jr. went 3-for-5 with two more homers and four RBI as the Braves topped the Braves 10-6 on Tuesday.

Juan Soto had 192 points of OPS on Acuna (.992 to .800) when the Nationals and Braves finished a doubleheader a week ago on Aug. 7. At the close of play tonight, the margin is likely to be down to 40-50 points, as Acuba is all of the way up to .922 after hitting seven homers in seven games. The NL Rookie of the Year award race is most certainly on.

J.A. Happ walked four but gave up just one single over seven shutout innings Tuesday in the Yankees’ 4-1 victory over the Rays.

The four free passes Happ handed out were more than he issued over his last four starts combined, but a C.J. Cron single with one out in the fourth inning was the only base knock he permitted. Over his first 19 innings in pinstripes across three starts, Happ has given up just eight hits and four runs, boasting a 1.89 ERA and 0.74 WHIP. He’ll take on his former team, the Blue Jays, on Sunday at Yankee Stadium.

Rick Porcello was on point Tuesday, whiffing a season-high 10 batters across seven innings of one-run ball in the Red Sox’ 2-1 win over the Phillies.

Rhys Hoskins broke up Porcello’s perfect game with a leadoff homer in the fifth inning and Odubel Herrera added a two-out single in the same frame, but those were the only two baserunners the Phillies managed all night against the former Cy Young winner. He needed just 90 pitches to cruise through his seven innings and even added a double at the plate. It might have been Porcello’s best start of the season, which is saying something considering he threw a complete game versus the Yankees two starts ago. Porcello has mixed in some clunkers, which is why his ERA is over 4.00, but the 29-year-old really has had a fantastic season. He faces the Indians at home the next time out.

James Paxton exited his start Tuesday night against the A's after taking a line drive off his throwing arm in the bottom of the first inning.

Paxton gave up a home run to the first batter he faced, struck out the second batter he faced, and then got smoked by screamer off the bat of Jed Lowrie, the third batter he faced. The left-hander looked to be in a good amount of pain as he abruptly walked off the field in Oakland. Felix Hernandez took over on the mound for the Mariners, making his relief debut. There should be an update soon on Paxton.

Kenley Jansen (heart) is hoping to be cleared to return after a follow-up visit with a cardiologist next Monday.

Jansen threw a successful bullpen session Monday, did conditioning work on Tuesday, and is planning to throw to hitters on Wednesday. He'll then travel with the Dodgers to Seattle and face hitters again on Friday. The 30-year-old closer was initially expected to miss 4-6 weeks when he landed on the disabled list August 8 with a recurrence of heart problems, but he'll beat that timetable by a mile if everything goes according to plan.

Giants activated 1B Brandon Belt from the 10-day disabled list.

Belt will be available off the bench Tuesday night against the Dodgers and should return to the starting lineup on Wednesday. He missed a little over two weeks of action with a hyperextended left knee. The 30-year-old first baseman has batted .278/.372/.470 with 14 home runs and 43 RBI in 85 games this season.
Aug 14 - 8:22 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he's optimistic Brandon Crawford will avoid the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Crawford took a knee to the head in an outfield collision with teammate Gorkys Hernandez on Monday night at Dodger Stadium, but he has apparently passed his first round of concussion tests and could be ready to return to action before the end of this week. Alen Hanson is starting at shortstop and batting eighth Tuesday versus Los Angeles.

Angels purchased the contract of INF Taylor Ward from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Ward will play third base and bat seventh Tuesday in his major league debut against the Padres and right-hander Brett Kennedy. The 24-year-old former catcher was slashing .349/.446/.531 with 14 home runs and 18 stolen bases in 102 games this season in the upper minors and makes for an intriguing fantasy option for the stretch run, assuming the Angels give him regular playing time. They really have no reason not to.
Aug 14 - 6:50 PM

Robinson Cano is starting at first base and batting second Tuesday night against the Athletics.

It'll be his first major league game since he got hit with an 80-game PED suspension back in mid-May. Cano slashed .389/.450/.778 over 20 plate appearances on his minor league rehab assignment and is worth activating immediately in mixed fantasy leagues. He is expected to rotate between first base, second base, and third base, getting something close to everyday playing time.
Aug 14 - 6:46 PM

Dee Gordon (shoulder) is back in the Mariners' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Athletics.

Gordon missed two games with minor soreness in his left shoulder. He is starting at second base and batting ninth Tuesday versus A's right-hander Mike Fiers, with Robinson Cano playing first base and batting second in his first game back from a PED suspension.
Aug 14 - 6:42 PM

Brian Dozier (heart) is in the Dodgers' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Giants.

Dozier was pulled from Monday's series opener after experiencing dizziness and an elevated heart rate, and an EKG taken after his departure showed some abnormalities. But with further testing he apparently checked out fine. Dozier will start at second base and bat leadoff Tuesday versus Giants left-hander Andrew Suarez.
