Astros and LHP Dallas Keuchel avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $13.2 million contract.

Keuchel was arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter before he enters his walk year. The former Cy Young winner put up a 2.90 ERA over 23 starts for the Astros last season.

Welington Castillo (suspension) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Castillo is eligible to be reinstated from his PED suspension on August 23 and should be back at that time. The veteran catcher belted 20 home runs over just 96 games last season and six over his first 33 contests this season before he was suspended. Castillo should be added in two-catcher leagues where he's available.

CC Sabathia (knee) is expected to rejoin the Yankees' rotation next week when first eligible.

The Yankees haven't mapped out an exact date for Sabathia's return yet, but it sounds like he'll be back next weekend in Baltimore. "He’ll throw his side, but all indications point that it will be right around that 10-day mark," manager Aaron Boone said. "Hopefully we can slot him in however we decide, again with those off days coming and then we have the doubleheader, so we’ll figure how exactly we want to line it up. But, we’ll make sure he gets through the next couple of days, his bullpen, his side and everything and we’ll go from there."

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Thursday that he expects Kris Bryant (shoulder) to return before the end of the month.

Bryant has begun hitting off a tee and expects to take batting practice on the field sometime within the next few days. Maddon recently implied that Bryant's left shoulder might not be 100 percent even after he returns, but the third baseman doesn't see it that way. ‘‘I expect the same impact I’ve always had,’’ said Bryant. ‘‘I’m just going to go out there and be myself, and I know that’s pretty good to me.’’

Eduardo Rodriguez (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Portland on Monday.

Rodriguez was cleared for official game action after getting through a four-inning simulated game Wednesday with no issues. The left-hander is slated for around 75-80 pitches Monday and will likely make one more rehab start before rejoining the Red Sox' rotation at the end of August. Rodriguez is worth stashing in your league if he's available.

Clay Buchholz allowed one run on five hits and went the distance in a complete-game victory over the Padres on Thursday.

Buchholz was staked to a five-run lead before he even took the mound and faced little resistance from the Padres lineup, allowing just five hits in a masterful performance. A solo homer off the bat of Hunter Renfroe in the eighth inning represented the lone tally against the right-hander. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. He needed only 112 pitches to go the distance, recording his first complete game since July 4, 2015. The 34-year-old veteran has exceeded even the most optimistic expectations since inking a minor-league deal with Arizona on May 5. Over his last six starts, he’s 5-1 with a 2.00 ERA and 32/11 K/BB ratio. He’ll face the Angels at home in his next start on Tuesday.

Logan Forsythe went a perfect 5-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored as the Twins blasted the Tigers 15-8 on Thursday.

Forsythe had a pair of doubles among his five hits, including a two-run double in the second inning. The move from the playoff-hopeful Dodgers to the idling Twins didn't seem to be a good one for Forsythe at the time, but he's made the best of it, hitting a robust .449 with four doubles, eight RBI and eight runs scored in 14 games with his new club. That may still be just AL-only territory, but if he keeps it up he'll force his way onto the deeper mixed league radar as well.

Joey Gallo went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, a solo home run and two runs scored as the Rangers came back to beat the Angels 8-6 on Thursday.

Gallo's second inning solo homer, in which he cracked his bat but still hit it over the wall, proved less important than the one-out RBI double he knocked in the eighth inning that started a four-run rally. He ended up scoring the winning run later in the frame. Gallo's had a pretty typical Gallo year thus far, mashing 32 homers with 73 RBI and 65 runs scored but with a .203/.313/.491 line. His 32 dingers are fourth-most in the American League through Thursday's games.

Koda Glover worked around a hit and a walk to toss a scoreless ninth inning Thursday, earning the save in the Nationals' 5-4 win over the Cardinals.

The Nats haven't had any answers late in games in recent days, including Paul DeJong's walk-off homer against Glover earlier in the series, but manager Dave Martinez went back to Glover Thursday with a tenuous one-run lead. Glover bent, yielding a two-out single to Jose Martinez and issuing a walk to Matt Carpenter to put the tying run in scoring position, but he didn't break, getting Yadier Molina to fly out to end the threat. Martinez has stated an intent to keep Glover in the closer role and Thursday's outing should only strengthen that resolve. If he's available in your league and you need saves, add him now.

David Dahl went 2-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base and three RBI -- including a game-winning, two-run single in the ninth inning -- to lead the Rockies to a 5-3 win over the Braves on Thursday.

Dahl took Braves starter Julio Teheran deep for a solo shot in the third inning, and he stepped to the dish with two on and two outs in a tied game in the ninth. He untied it with a two-run single, and later stole a base for fun. The stolen base was his fourth of the year, and the homer was his sixth. It's been an injury-riddled year for the 24-year-old, who's been limited to 42 games, and he's hitting .270/.318/.484 when in the lineup.

Giants placed RHP Dereck Rodriguez on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

He suffered the injury during Tuesday's bench-clearing brawl with the Dodgers. Rodriguez had been slated to start Friday against Cincinnati, but instead Casey Kelly will get the nod. The rookie has pitched well this year, compiling a 2.25 ERA across 14 appearances including 12 starts. Luckily for Rodriguez, he only suffered a Grade 1 strain, which is considered the least serious.

Jon Lester struck out eight over six scoreless innings Thursday as the Cubs shut out the Pirates 1-0.

Lester's struggles in recent weeks have been well-documented, so Thursday's dominant outing was surely cathartic for the southpaw. And it was dominant, as all five of the Pirates' hits were singles and he didn't walk a batter in the start. The win, his first in more than a month, improved him to 13-5 with a 3.72 ERA and 1.32 WHIP through 25 starts on the year. An interleague matchup with the Tigers on Wednesday offers another chance for Lester to continue to right the ship.
