Brewers and INF/OF Hernan Perez avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract.

The financial details aren't yet available. Perez was eligible for arbitration for the first time.

Felipe Vazquez was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Cardinals with left forearm discomfort.

Vazquez was put in a tough spot on Sunday, coming on with the bases loaded and the Pirates holding a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning. He allowed an RBI single to Harrison Bader, walked Yadier Munoz to force in another run, allowed a third run to score on a fielder's choice, then walked Greg Garcia before departing. Vazquez was being treated and evaluated and was not available for comment after the game. If the injury forces him to miss some time, Michael Feliz would seemingly be the next man up in the ninth inning for the Pirates and could be worth a speculative add in all formats.
May 27 - 5:26 PM

Bud Norris pitched a perfect ninth inning Sunday to secure an 8-6 win and a series win over the Pirates.

Two days, two flawless saves for the right-hander, who has bounced back well after a rough outing against the Royals earlier in the week. Through 24 appearances, Norris now has a 2.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 34/4 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings of work. He's also perfect in save chances, converting all 11 opportunities to date.
May 27 - 5:10 PM

Mike Foltynewicz allowed three hits and one run over seven stellar innings Sunday in the Braves’ win over the Red Sox.

The 26-year-old collected seven strikeouts and three walks over 113 pitches. Foltynewicz dominated with his high-90s fastball on Sunday and had a no-hitter going until the sixth inning when Andrew Bentintendi broke it up with a one-out double. Benintendi would later score on Mitch Moreland’s RBI triple. Sunday’s start was the right-hander’s longest outing of the year, both in terms of pitch count and innings pitched. He’ll take an elite 2.55 ERA into his next start Friday versus Washington.
May 27 - 5:04 PM

Ronald Acuna (knee) was transported to a nearby hospital to undergo further evaluation.

Acuna was removed from Sunday's game against the Red Sox after he hyperextended his knee while crossing first base. Astoundingly, he was able to walk off of the field under his own power, but he isn't out of the woods yet. Expect the Braves to provide another update on his status shortly.
May 27 - 4:36 PM

Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Joe Mauer (concussion) being activated from the disabled list on Thursday is looking "increasingly likely."

Great to hear. Mauer was placed on the 7-day concussion DL a little over a week ago, but he's feeling much better and will hit in the batting cage again Sunday. If that goes well, he'll work out on the field Monday. Mauer has put up a .283/.404/.355 batting line with one home run over 38 games for the Twins this season.
May 27 - 3:11 PM

Ronald Acuna was lifted from Sunday's game against the Red Sox with a left knee injury.

Acuna looked to hyperextend his knee after crossing first base, flipped over and went down in pain. He was able to walk off the field on his own, which would seem to be a good sign, but he did have a noticeable limp. The Braves are only saying for now that Acuna is dealing with knee and lower back pain, but the outfielder is surely headed for tests and an update on his condition could be available later Sunday.
May 27 - 3:06 PM

Clayton Kershaw (biceps) is expected to rejoin the Dodgers' rotation on Thursday against the Phillies.

Manager Dave Roberts would only say that Kershaw was a "viable" option to start Thursday, but it sounds like he'll return that day unless he has some sort of setback. Kershaw threw four innings in a simulated game Saturday and figures to throw a bullpen session Tuesday ahead of Thursday's start. The three-time Cy Young winner has been out since early May with left biceps tendinitis.
May 27 - 2:17 PM

Padres acquired RHP Phil Hughes, cash and the 74th overall pick in the 2018 Draft from the Twins for C Janigson Villalobos.

The Padres essentially just bought a draft pick here, as they're reportedly picking up a little less than $7.5 million of the roughly $22 million Hughes is still owed, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. Hughes is expected to report to the big league club on Monday but probably isn't a good bet to stick around very long. The veteran right-hander holds a 5.99 ERA since the beginning of 2016 and was designated for assignment last week.
May 27 - 2:08 PM

Byron Buxton (head) is in the Twins' lineup Sunday.

Buxton left Saturday's game after slamming into the outfield wall. He suffered a cut on his head and is surely sore but is feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. Buxton is in center field and batting ninth against Mike Leake and the Mariners.
May 27 - 2:00 PM

Jean Segura (head) is not in the Mariners' lineup Sunday.

Segura went through concussion tests after being removed from Saturday's game versus the Twins when he was kicked in the head. He still has to pass additional test before being cleared to return, but he did say Sunday that he's feeling better. Zach Vincej has been added to the taxi squad in case Segura does wind up going on the disabled list. Andrew Romine will handle shortstop Sunday.
May 27 - 1:29 PM

Mookie Betts was a late scratch from the Red Sox' lineup Sunday due to left side tightness.

The Red Sox are calling Betts day-to-day for the time being, but if it's an oblique injury it's certainly something that could wind up sending him to the disabled list. Perhaps the team will offer more on the star's condition after the game. Blake Swihart has replaced Betts in the lineup and will be making his first start in the outfield since 2016.
