Nick Delmonico will be shut down for 3-4 weeks as he recovers from shoulder inflammation.

Delmonico injured his shoulder in the last week of the regular season. The 25-year-old utility player batted .262/.373/.482 with nine home runs over his first 43 major league games this season with the White Sox, though his minor league numbers suggest he's in for some regression in 2018.

The Braves are calling up prospect right-hander Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, reports David O'Brien of The Athletic.

The Braves have yet to make an official announcement. It's also unclear if he's being called up to start or pitch in relief. Either way, he's an exciting young arm. The 20-year-old has put up an impressive 3.27 ERA and 139/35 K/BB ratio over 123 2/3 innings this season between three different levels in the minors. He tossed eight scoreless innings with 13 strikeouts, no walks, and just one hit allowed in his most recent start in Triple-A.

Mariners activated SS Jean Segura from the paternity leave list.

Gordon has been away from the team since Friday. Dee Gordon has been filling in at shortstop, but now he'll go back to splitting time between second base and center field.

The Mets are considering placing Brandon Nimmo (finger) on the 10-day disabled list.

Structural damage was ruled out following X-rays and an MRI, but Nimmo said Sunday that he bruised left index finger was "not very good." At this point, it might make sense to give him some extended rest rather than continue to waste a roster spot. It would also enable the club to keep Dominic Smith around. We should know more Monday afternoon.

Jhoulys Chacin fired six shutout innings to pick up his 13th win of the year against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Chacin scattered four hits and did not walk a batter. He stuck out three and threw a staggering 62 of 82 pitches for strikes over six frames. The 30-year-old righty has allowed one run or fewer in five of his last seven starts dating back to July 15. He's 13-4 with a 3.58 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 122/55 K/BB ratio in 27 starts this season. He's been an outstanding free agent bargain for the Brewers, who inked the well-traveled veteran to a two-year $15 million deal in December. He’ll face the Pirates at home in his next start on Saturday.

Justin Turner went 4-for-5 with a homer and five RBI in a 12-1 shellacking of the Mariners on Sunday.

Turner's homer came off of Andrew Romine -- yep, another position player pitching -- and it gives the third baseman nine on the season. The other three knocks were all singles, and his average is now over the .300 mark at .305. Turner is as hot as it gets with the bat right now, and his OPS 1.223 in his 52 at bats in August. It was only a matter of time for Turner to start playing at the level we've come accustomed to. We just wish it would have come a little sooner, but injuries certainly have played a part in his early "struggles."

A.J. Pollock clubbed a go-ahead solo homer off of Kirby Yates in the ninth inning on Sunday, powering the Diamondbacks to a 4-3 victory over the Padres.

Pollock strolled to the dish with one out in the ninth inning and fouled off a tough 1-2 offering before crushing his go-ahead home run into the seats in left-center. He also doubled in the contest, finishing the afternoon 2-for-5. The 30-year-old outfielder is now slashing .286/.344/.540 with 16 homers, 50 RBI and 10 stolen bases in his 78 games on the season.

Khris Davis hit two homers on Sunday, but the Athletics fell to the Astros on Sunday.

Both of Davis's homers were off of Justin Verlander; a solo shot in the first inning and a two-run shot in the third to tie the game at 4-4. The pair of blasts give Davis 36 on the season, and the three RBI bring his RBI tally to 98. With those numbers along with an .898 OPS over 114 games, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Davis received some MVP down votes. He's deserving of them.
Aug 19 - 7:26 PM

Rougned Odor went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI in a 4-2 victory over the Angels on Sunday.

Odor hit a three-run shot off of Noe Ramirez in the seventh inning to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead. It's the 15th homer of the season, and that along with an RBI single in the first give the second baseman 54 runs batted in on the 2018 season. What an improvement Odor has made over the past few months. His .279/.355/.483 line would be impressive even before you consider he was hitting .171 on May 23. The only blemish here was a caught stealing, his 10th of the season. You'll happily trade it for the results he's put up over the past two-plus months.
Aug 19 - 7:08 PM

Adam Frazier hit a pinch-hit, walk-off homer to give the Pirates a 2-1 victory over the Cubs on Sunday in 11 innings.

Frazier came up with two outs in the bottom of the 11th to face Brandon Kintzler, and he deposited the baseball into the stands to give himself five homers and the Pirates the victory. He's received inconsistent playing time, but he's performed reasonably well over his 80 games with a line of .284/.352/.447 over 197 at-bats. You can certainly do worse, but it's tough to call him more than a bench outfielder right now in redraft leagues.
Aug 19 - 5:25 PM

Yankees' manager Aaron Boone said after Sunday's game that the bruised left heel sustained by Didi Gregorius is "pretty significant" and could require a trip to the disabled list.

Gregorius went to the hospital for further testing, but it sounds like he's going to be on the shelf for awhile. He suffered the injury during Sunday's game against the Blue Jays when he collided with Kendrys Morales at first base.
Aug 19 - 4:54 PM

Starlin Castro went 5-for-6 with an RBI and three runs scored in a blowout victory over the Nationals.

Castro doubled twice, and the other three hits were singles. He drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the third to score Rafael Ortega. The second baseman now has an eight-game hitting streak, and his season line improves to .287/.335/.407 with 10 homers and 45 RBI over 123 games in his first year with the Marlins.
