Notre Dame redshirt sophomore QB Ian Book will miss Saturday's game against Florida State with a rib injury.

Book is believed to have suffered the rib injury in the first quarter of last weekend's 10-point win over Northwestern. He went on to throw for 343 passing yards and two touchdowns. But the injury is apparently serious enough that the Irish will hold him out against the Seminoles. That means that former starter Brandon Wimbush will lead the Fighting Irish into battle. No pressure. You're only trying to preserve a perfect 9-0 record and the No. 3 ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings on Senior Day in South Bend.

Texas sophomore QB Sam Ehlinger suffered an AC contusion in his throwing shoulder in Saturday's 24-10 win over Iowa State.

An MRI on Sunday revealed no structural damage in Ehlinger's shoulder. According to HC Tom Herman, it was mere "re-aggravation" of the injury Ehlinger first suffered against Baylor. "No broken bones. No separation. No ridiculous amount of damage," Herman said. "But it's angry. It's upset. The joint, the shoulder is inflamed." Ehlinger will not throw Monday, per Herman, but is expected to do so on Tuesday. The Longhorns close out the regular season at Kansas on Friday.

FootballScoop reports that William & Mary will hire Howard HC Mike London to the same position.

William & Mary HC Jimmye Laycock is heading into retirement after 39 seasons as head coach. London is the former coach of Richmond and Virginia. He had his best success at Richmond, going 24-5 mark in two seasons and winning the FCS national championship in 2008. After a failed six-year stint at Virginia, London eventually wound up at Howard, where he went 11-10 over two seasons. He has deep recruiting roots in the state of Virginia.

Virginia Tech announced Sunday that it has agreed to potentially host a game at Lane Stadium against Marshall on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The key word being "potentially." This is the first regular season college football scheduling contingency we can remember seeing, but here goes: VT and Marshall will play on Dec. 1 in Blacksburg, but only if Virginia Tech beats Virginia this weekend to improve to 5-6. That would open up the possibility of winning a sixth game to go bowling. If Virginia Tech loses on Friday to fall to 4-7, officially eliminating the Hokies from the postseason, then the game against Marshall will not take place. Each of these teams had a game canceled on Sept. 15 due to hurricane conditions. Virginia Tech was originally scheduled to host East Carolina that day, while Marshall was slated to play at South Carolina. If VT beats UVA and then Marshall, the Hokies will extend their 25-year bowl streak.

Miami coach Mark Richt said freshman TE Brevin Jordan (ankle) will not be available for next week's game against Pittsburgh.

Neither will TE Will Mallory (knee), but Richt is optimistic that both will be ready for a bowl game. Jordan's absence is significant, as he is currently second on the team in receptions (30) and receiving touchdowns (4). Losing both Jordan and Mallory will really test Miami's tight end depth, but the team may put more onto the receivers' plates instead.

Charlotte has fired HC Brad Lambert.

Lambert will stick around for the season finale against Florida Atlantic, but Charlotte will begin their head coaching search immediately. Under Lambert's leadership, the 49ers have had losing seasons in 6-of-6 years, including this year's 4-7 record. Many analysts were surprised Lambert survived this past offseason after going 1-11 in 2017, but the university will finally move on at the season's end. Lambert is 21-48 overall.

Texas State has named defensive coordinator Chris Woods as the interim head coach.

The Bobcats have moved on from head coach Everett Withers, so Woods will serve as the team leader for the season finale against Arkansas State. Texas State hired Woods as the defensive coordinator last February after serving as a defensive specialist at Oklahoma. The Bobcats' defense has improved from last season under Woods' leadership. Last year, the defense allowed 33.6 points per game, but that number is down to 27.2 points in 2018. The search for the long-term head coach has begun.

UC Davis senior WR Keelan Doss caught 16 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 56-13 win over Sacramento State.

Doss (6'3/206) is arguably the top NFL receiving prospect in the FCS, and his stats certainly back it up. Yesterday's receiving line was obviously monstrous, but that's basically just another day at the office for Doss. On the season, Doss has a 100-1,065-9 receiving line, which is actually worse than his junior campaign when he posted 115-1,499-7. It's been an amazing collegiate career for Doss, and he could easily be a Day 3 pick if he can test well after the season. Doss has the size to make it.

Oklahoma State redshirt senior QB Taylor Cornelius was named the Walter Camp Player of the Week.

Cornelius entered the fourth quarter with three touchdowns, and he added three more in the final 15 minutes to lead the Cowboys to a comeback 45-41 win over West Virginia. The redshirt senior completed 30-of-46 passes for 338 yards when the dust settled, and he gets one more chance to make magic happen (vs. TCU) before Oklahoma State heads to a bowl game. Cornelius has 36 total touchdowns to just 10 interceptions this season.

Latest AP Rankings: 1) Alabama, 2) Clemson, 3) Notre Dame, 4) Michigan, 5) Georgia, 6) Oklahoma, 7) Washington State, 8) UCF, 8) LSU, and 10) Ohio State.

The six seven teams are unchanged, but Washington State climbed a spot after putting up 55 points in the first half against Arizona last night. Washington State would be undefeated right now if not for a silly loss to USC earlier in the year. The biggest news is UCF and LSU tying for the No. 8 spot, which means UCF climbed over Ohio State, who narrowly beat Maryland on Saturday. The biggest risers are Kentucky (No. 17), Utah (No. 18), Northwestern (No. 20), and Mississippi State (No. 22), while the biggest fallers are West Virginia (No. 12), Syracuse (No. 19), and Iowa State (No. 25). Fresno State just missed out on cracking the Top 25, but Army (No. 23) is in for the first time since 1996.

According to Football Scoop, Texas State has fired HC Everett Withers.

Withers lasted just three seasons as the Bobcats' head coach, and he will finish with a 7-28 overall record since he will not coach the season finale against Arkansas State. The news comes just one day after his offense threw five interceptions and only scored one touchdown, which sent the team to 3-8 on the season. The former Urban Meyer assistant head coach will likely re-surface as he only is 55-years old, but there is a chance that his next position will be as a coordinator.

Kansas has hired Les Miles as head coach.

Kansas University athletic director Jeff Long took to Twitter to make the announcement, listing Miles' experience as a head coach and strong recruiting reputation as reasons why the Jayhawks went in his direction. While Les Miles does bring a big name to the Kansas football program, there are concerns about his ability to adjust to the Big 12, especially with much weaker recruits than he was used to at LSU. Miles has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract worth $2,275,000 annually, with additional retention bonuses due in 2020 and 2022. Miles said, "We will bring Jayhawk football back." Let's see who he can bring on to his coaching staff.
