Australia will take on Kuwait in a friendly next Wednesday without two of their Premier League stars.

Head coach Graham Arnold confirmed that goalkeeper Matt Ryan will remain on the south coast rather than travel to the Middle East due to an ongoing problem. "Mathew’s managing a minor injury which hasn’t prevented him from playing or performing for Brighton so far this season. He could have travelled, trained with us, and played, but for this window we believe it is best that he remains in Brighton." Fortunately, Australia have three goalkeepers attending the training camp - Danny Vukovic, Brad Jones, and Mitchell Langerak – and Arnold will consider his best option closer to kick-off. Aaron Mooy is also out of match following a scan which revealed he sustained a minor groin strain in Huddersfield’s 1-1 draw against Burnley. "I am disappointed that I won't be able to join my Socceroos teammates," he said. "I enjoyed the camp in Turkey and trust that I will be ready to join the team in Australia [November]."

Gerard Deulofeu scored a goal and assisted on another as Watford stormed out to a 3-0 lead over Cardiff City and held on as the Bluebirds pulled two back late.

Deulofeu replaced Isaac Success in Javi Gracia's starting line-up and it looked like a stroke of genius early as the former Barcelona man scored on 16 minutes. He helped his side double their lead just after halftime feeding Jose Holebas who put his side up 2-0. Domingos Quina added a third that turned out to be critical as Junior Hoilett and Bobby Reid scored within two minutes of each other in the late going to give the hosts a scare.

Newcastle United continued their recent good run of results in the PL with a 1-0 win away to Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield will be very disappointed to come away from the encounter with nothing as they dominated proceedings, managing 74% possession. However, they couldn't make it count as both Chris Lowe and Philip Billing left good chances go a begging. David Wagner's side have now suffered four defeats on the bounce and remain in the relegation zone. Newcastle have now pulled six points clear of 18th place and continue to make Rafa Benitez look like a miracle-worker. Salomon Rondon's fourth PL goal for the club was enough to earn victory. His second-half strike from close range came after good work by Javier Manquillo and Ayoze Perez.

The battle between two of the "best of the rest" teams outside the Top Six ended in a convincing 2-0 win for Wolves at Molineux.

The home side took an early lead through Raul Jiménez after Diego Jota took advantage of an error by Charlie Daniels and had his shot turned in by the striker. Although Bournemouth were dominating proceedings before and after that goal, neither side mustered another good opportunity in the first half. Jota was forced off with an injury at the break, just as he was starting to show his talents consistently to the PL. His replacement Helder Costa was denied well by Begovic. The Cherries failed to penetrate the Wolves defence from open-play, though a Stanislas free hit the post, and eventually they were caught on the break in stoppage time by Ivan Cavaleiro. Bournemouth are now in tenth, with Wolves just a point behind Manchester United.

At least for the day, Manchester City will be back atop the Premier League table after a 3-1 win over Everton.

It was Gabriel Jesus who stole the show with two goals on either side of half-time, breaking his dubious goalless streak with the opener in the 22nd minute when he coolly finished from a difficult angle for his first Premier League goal since August. Leroy Sane drew up quite a connection with the Brazilian forward by assisting on both goals, including a brilliant chipped pass in the 50th minute that led to a powerful header from Gabriel Jesus. After Everton brought one back in the 65th, Raheem Sterling came off the bench for Sane and recorded only his second-career headed goal in the Premier League just minutes later for a 69th-minute winner. And there's more good news for City as Kevin De Bruyne returned from injury to feature as a second-half sub while Sergio Aguero also made the bench.

Despite looking up to the challenge, Everton were left to struggle at the Etihad in a 3-1 loss to Manchester City.

The Toffees kept up with the reigning Premier League champions with nine shots to their 13, but were far too wasteful to take points off the leaders with only two shots on goal. Even with Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling on the bench, Manchester City pulled away with a 2-0 lead by the 50th minute thanks to two goals from Gabriel Jesus where the Brazilian found himself wide open inside the penalty area. But Everton had a few minutes of hope in the 65th when Lucas Digne launched a cross that found Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a header that cut the lead in half. But in the 66th minute Sterling entered and scored the dagger just three minutes later to leave Everton behind.

Nathaniel Clyne has recovered from injury to help ease Liverpool’s defensive crisis.

On Friday, Jurgen Klopp revealed Trent Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined for Sundays’ north west derby although his ankle problem is not as serious as the "other two boys" – Joel Matip and Joe Gomez who are ruled out until early 2019 due to respective collarbone and ankle fractures. The defender will be assessed on a day-to-day basis. The Liverpool boss admits he will find a solution at right-back against Manchester United.... "but of course, it is not perfect." James Milner is a strong contender for the spot, despite coming off (vs Napoli) with cramp, but Clyne is another option having trained normally for the past four days. "Is he ready for 90 minutes? I don't know," Klopp said. "But is he ready? Yes." The injury-plagued defender has been restricted to just two Premier League starts in the past two seasons, but if he can recapture his form from 2016/17, then Clyne could prove to be a huge asset in the second half of the campaign.

Stephan Lichtsteiner has proven a valuable reserve for Arsenal and could feature in a third position on Sunday with Arsenal facing a defensive crisis.

The Gunners brought Stephan Lichtsteiner in with the idea that Hector Bellerin could use an experienced deputy/tutor. Lichtsteiner fit the bill coming over from perennial winners Juventus. Unai Emery has gotten more out of his summer signing than expected with the Swiss international deputizing at right back when all three of Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have been unavailable. With a similar issue at center back, Lichtsteiner seems like the odds-on favorite to get a spot start opposite Laurent Koscielny.

Andre Gray will miss the visit of Cardiff City on Saturday with a calf injury leaving Isaac Success and Troy Deeney the burden of scoring the goals.

Gray has been a significant disappointment since arriving at Vicarage Road and looks to have solidified his status as a high end Championship forward who isn't quite good enough to do the business regularly in the Premier League. Gray hasn't started a match in the Premier League since October 6th so his absence shouldn't be too much of a problem for Javi Gracia. Given the upcoming fixture schedule, he will hope to be back soon to help fill in the minutes as the matches come fast and furious.

Jonny has returned to training for Wolves and could be set to feature in Week 17 against Bournemouth.

This is certainly no guarantee that the Spain international is ready to return but it is worth noting because it puts both Jonny and his deputy, Ruben Vinagre, in question for Week 17. Given the extent to which Wolves, with or without Jonny, have conceded fantasy points to opposing midfielders and the excellent record for scoring fantasy points that we've seen from Bournemouth's midfield this season, this probably isn't the weekend to take a risk on a Wolves defender.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson, along with teammate Steven Defour, has been quoted by Sean Dyche as "touch and go" for the weekend trip to Tottenham.

Gudmundsson was forced off just after 70 minutes last weekend while Defour has missed the last two matches entirely. Defour had missed the first eight games of the season through injury, and given comparable options on hand for Dyche in central midfield, would figure to be an outside chance of starting. Gudmundsson, on the other hand, has been vital to the cause so Dyche may be more inclined to play the Icelandic international in a 50/50 call. It is not a matchup that has much fantasy promise for any of the Clarets.

Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy is set to return this weekend when the Foxes head to Selhurst Park.

The Leicester City talisman has not featured in the club's last two matches due to a groin injury, although he was enjoying great form with a goal in each of his previous two prior to the injury. But Claude Puel's side could only manage one goal without Vardy, who has been linked to a winter move to Chelsea. Meanwhile, Puel said that Ben Chilwell looks to be a doubt due to a knee injury. "We will see tomorrow about Ben Chilwell," the manager said. "He felt a pain in his knee, so we will see this week whether he can play. Jamie Vardy came back with the squad this morning (Thursday) and I think he will be in the squad this weekend. Harry Maguire was in the squad for the last game [against Tottenham Hotspur]."
