Crystal Palace confirm Christian Benteke has undergone "minor arthroscopic explorative surgery" to remedy a knee complaint as the problem had not been responding to conservative management.

The Belgium international has been side-lined since September following tests by the national team doctor which ruled Benteke out of the friendly with Scotland and the Nations League fixture versus Iceland. At the time, Benteke was managing a niggling problem, but had started all four Premier League games, although he only completed 90 minutes on one occasion. Benteke was hoping non-invasive treatment would correct the issue, but despite day-to-day monitoring, his knee has not responded as hoped and a decision was taken to go under the knife. "The surgeon was happy with the outcome and we expect Christian to return to training very soon," read a statement on the club’s website. "A further update will be given in a few weeks' time." Palace had a decent start to the campaign, however, they have faltered in recent weeks, particularly at Selhurst Park, where they are yet to score from four attempts.

Leicester City finished Monday nights game at the Emirates with ten men after Jamie Vardy sprinted off the pitch in the 87th minute.

Eyebrows were raised when Vardy left the field as Claude Puel had already made his three substitutions, leaving the Foxes a man down. Post-match the City boss revealed that the striker was removed because of a "stomach bug" and suggested – tongue in cheek – that the problem had been caused by the referees’ failure to award a stonewall spot kick against Rob Holding for a clear handball. "Jamie was ill, and he could not come back into the top game," Puel said. "He felt this in the second half. It was his stomach... he could not digest the penalty decision. I didn't understand why the referee didn't give a penalty. It was a penalty and a second yellow card and sending off. This situation can change the game." Vardy is expected to be available for the late kick-off [Saturday] when Leicester take on West Ham at the King Power.

Eden Hazard is an early doubt for the Premier League clash with Burnley next weekend due to injury.

The Belgium star completed 90 minutes against Manchester United but was very quiet given his recent rich vein of form. Although there was no mention of a problem post-match, news on Sunday revealed that Hazard had suffered a lower back issue which is almost certain to keep him out the Europa League tie versus BATE Borisov. Chelsea then travel to Turf Moor, and although the injury is not thought to be serious, there are no guarantees that Hazard will recover in time to face the Clarets. Some reports suggest that the injury was caused by United’s roughhouse tactics throughout Saturdays game, but television cameras do show Hazard stretching and rubbing his back during the pre-match warm-up which could explain his lukewarm performance. Should he fail a fitness test, then Maurizio Sarri will look to Pedro, or Ross Barkley, if he prefers to keep Kovacic in the starting XI.

Arsenal delivered the most eye-catching half of Unai Emery's tenure so far as they came from behind to beat Leicester 3-1 at the Emirates.

Leicester had received their due reward for fine pressure during the first half. It was not one of their two strikers, Vardy and Iheanacho who created the goal, rather left-back Ben Chilwell, whose ball was turned into the net by Hector Bellerin. Mesut Ozil, Arsenal's standout performer on the night and wearing the captain's armband, drew The Gunners level with a cool one-touch finish. After the break Aubameyang entered the fray and scored twice in 6 minutes, with Ozil the architect in chief behind the sublime moves which led to Auba's tap-ins.

Jordan Henderson is rated as a major doubt for the Champions League tie against Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday night.

The Liverpool skipper could only manage 45-minutes at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday before being replaced as a precaution because of tight hamstring. "It was not that he felt nothing, but he didn’t feel a lot," Klopp said after the narrow win. "He wanted to carry on – that’s a good sign. We decided no. Hopefully it’s nothing." Henderson will have a scan this week to determine the extent of the problem. Meanwhile, Sadio Mane [thumb] ‘could’ return to the matchday squad although a hamstring problem is likely to keep Naby Keita side-lined. "They are normal issues. Both are not too serious; they cannot play today [vs Huddersfield], which is never good, but it shouldn’t be that long," Klopp told BT Sport prior to kick-off. "Sadio especially, we have to see how it develops in the next few days. Naby, maybe we have to be a bit more patient."

Chris Hughton will run the rule over several players following injuries picked up during the win over Newcastle at St James’ Park.

Glenn Murray stayed on Tyneside after he was stretchered off and taken to hospital following a sickening clash of heads which left the Seagulls striker "out cold." Thankfully, the club provided an official update on Saturday evening confirming the 35-year-old had been cleared of serious injury. "He's going to be sore for a short while and this week we will do the appropriate things we need to do with him. We are just happy he's OK." After missing the five previous games due to an ankle complaint, Pascal Gross is "not far away" from a return, although Hughton won’t be taking any risks ahead of the clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers. "It's those final bits we've got to be sure of." Veteran full-back Bruno Saltor needs checked after he was forced off with a back problem – Brazilian Bernardo could be in line for only his second league start having arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer.

Mark Hughes is hoping the injury sustained by Mario Lemina at the Vitality Stadium is not serious.

Southampton secured a valuable point against their south coast rivals Bournemouth on Saturday, but the 0-0 draw was marred slightly by the loss of Lemina who limped off midway through the second half. "He got a bang on his ribs just before half time and went up for a ball and hyper extended his knee as he came down," explained the Saints boss. "He was able to carry on so that would suggest he’s just going to be sore for a couple of days we hope, but we will just have to wait and see. Hopefully it will just settle down." Newcastle arrive at St Marys’ in week ten and Hughes will be looking to avoid a loss to the leagues bottom side. Stuart Armstrong is one possible replacement, although he has struggled to establish himself since arriving from Celtic in the summer, while forgotten man James Ward-Prowse is another who could slot into a central midfield role.

Brighton claimed their first away win of the season in a 1-0 victory at Newcastle, but the result came at a hefty cost, with striker Glenn Murray stretched off earlier following a clash of heads.

Murray went down in the ninth minute following a sickening aerial collision with Newcastle defender Federico Fernandez and taken off on a stretcher after six minutes of treatment. Despite losing their leading scorer this season, Brighton responded and scored what proved to be the decisive goal when Beram Kayal deflected in Jose Izquierdo's strike in the 29th minute. The Seagulls were under fire for the rest of the match as Newcastle attempted 27 shots on goal. Jonjo Shelvey went closest to finding the equaliser, but Mat Ryan twice denied the midfielder. Brighton is now 12th on 11 points, while the Magpies are bottom with just two points.

Andriy Yarmolenko’s season hangs in the balance after the West Ham winger was stretchered off during Saturdays loss to London-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund was just beginning to find his feet following a slow start to his Premier League career. Yarmolenko made his full debut at Goodison Park [GW5] scoring twice and has become staple of Manuel Pellegrini’s line-up. Post-match the Hammers boss confirmed Yarmolenko had a problem "between his foot and his ankle" with early tests confirming an Achilles injury. However, a further assessment confirmed a rupture and plans are already afoot to undergo surgery. Reports suggest the 28-year-old could be missing for around six months, although Premier League injury data collected over the previous decade indicates that the average return-to-play is nearer to seven months [221 days] meaning Yarmolenko would miss the final domestic fixture of the campaign on May 12. His absence opens the door to Grady Diangana who announced his first-team arrival with a standout performance in the 8-0 demolition of Macclesfield in the Carabao Cup last month.

Everton got two last-minute goals from substitutes Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun for a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

From the 60th minute on, this game looked like Everton's to win after Jordan Pickford kept the game scoreless with a massive penalty save on a shot from Luka Milivojevic. The Toffees took the lead in the 87th minute when Ademola Lookman found Dominic Calvert-Lewin with an inch-perfect cross for the easy header, just five minutes after the duo came off the bench in one last hope for Marco Silva. Then it was Tosun who broke away on a counterattack in the 89th with Palace pressing forward and finished underneath Wayne Hennessey for the three points at Goodison.

Despite a hard-fought effort, Crystal Palace was left heartbroken in the end of a 2-0 away loss at the hands of Everton.

After a three-match unbeaten streak, Palace has not been able to carry over that momentum into October as they dive further into a three-match losing streak. Despite Wilfried Zaha overcoming an adductor injury suffered during the international break, Palace could only manage three shots on target. But their best chance came in the 60th minute after Zaha was taken down in the box by Seamus Coleman. Luka Milivojevic, who is usually a sure-footed penalty taker, sent a lazy effort right down the middle that was saved by the outstretched legs of Jordan Pickford. Palace were left to regret their one chance when the Toffees scored two goals in the final five minutes of the match to steal the three points from a solid effort on the visitors' part.

Abdoulaye Doucoure assisted on both goals less than a minute apart as Watford traveled to the Molineux and beat form team Wolves 2-0 to halt a 5 match winless drought.

Proof that momentum is great for stories in the media but meaningless when it comes to predicting results. Wolves had all of the positive signs. They were playing at home. They have been on a hot streak. Their opponents, Watford, were struggling mightily. Easy, home win, right? Not so fast. Doucoure's assists to Etienne Capoue and Roberto Pereyra in the 20th and 21st minutes respectively were all the scoring that this match would see and Watford would need to reverse the momentum of both clubs coming into the match.
