Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana said he hopes to be fit from a groin injury within the next two weeks.

The former Southampton star said he is targeting a return to action for the club's Champions League showdown with PSG next Tuesday after sustaining a minor groin injury in England while training this week, which kept him out of UEFA Nations League games. "It's a minor setback, which isn't ideal, as I've been in great shape until now, but it's positive news that it's only a brief lay-off," he said. I'm pleased I'll be back available for Liverpool, both domestically and in the Champions League during September, and then England again for the next break."

Ryan Fredericks has been ruled out for the remainder of the year after picking up an injury during the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town.

The 26-year-old was making his first Premier League appearance in over two months at the John Smith’s Stadium following his introduction for Pablo Zabaleta. Manuel Pellegrini confirmed in his post-match press conference, that Fredericks had sustained an injury and would go to hospital for further tests. "Ryan has a twist in his ankle, he cannot walk, so we played the last five minutes with one player less. We will see tomorrow with the doctors how bad it is." Although there has been no official update, several media outlets have reported that Fredericks will be sidelined for around three months, but there does seem to be a little confusion over the precise nature of the injury. None mention the ankle as revealed by Pellegrini, but instead reference the shin or knee, so I would advise you to treat the timeline with care until the club release additional information.

Bournemouth will be without the services Adam Smith until 2019 after the defender had surgery.

The full-back was stretchered off at St James’ Park in game week twelve after his right knee gave way following a heavy challenge by Matt Ritchie. Smith fell to the turf as he prepared himself for a free-kick and there were fears that the injury could be season-ending. "It looks like a serious one, we won't know until it's scanned but it doesn't look good," Eddie Howe said after the defeat to Newcastle. "I don't think it's a cruciate but it would be foolish of me to give a clear view without a scan." However, following an extensive medical assessment, the injury is better than initially anticipated with no ligament damage and the 27-year-old underwent a procedure to repair a cartilage tear. The setback is expected to keep him sidelined for up to three months. Smith has started every Premier League game this season, but his absence could open the door for Charlie Daniels, himself just back after a knee injury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are facing a potential wing-back crisis ahead of their game against Huddersfield Town this weekend.

After suffering a facial injury at the Emirates in week twelve, Matt Doherty was withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to his debut season in the top-flight, but his involvement hangs in the balance due to a cheekbone injury which has been assessed by a specialist. And, on the opposite flank, Nuno Espírito Santo will be without Jonny Castro Otto until Christmas after he suffered a knee ligament injury during Spain’s 1-0 friendly win over Bosnia. An update from the Spanish Football Federation read: "[Otto] suffers a partial tear of the internal lateral ligament of his knee that has been detected in the tests carried out. It is estimated a loss of 5 or 6 weeks." While Ruben Vinagre appears to be the obvious choice on the left, if Doherty misses out, then Wolves have no natural replacement on the right. Ryan Bennett or Adama Traore could be called upon to deputise.

Jordan Henderson could be at the centre of club versus country row after Gareth Southgate revealed the Liverpool skipper has aggravated a muscle issue.

Henderson only made his Liverpool return last weekend, coming on as a second half substitute in the win over Fulham, having missed the previous four matches with a hamstring related problem. Henderson then joined his international team-mates at St George’s Park before, he was once again introduced from the bench in the Rooney swansong at Wembley against the United States. However, Henderson was absent from the matchday squad in UEFA Nations League on Sunday and Southgate confirmed his withdrawal from the squad to face Croatia was forced. "Jordan has been carrying a bit of an injury and had some game time the other night and wasn't really happy with it. He is someone who always wants to play so I had to make that decision." The setback is guaranteed to irk Jurgen Klopp who will be concerned that his captain was risked in a meaningless friendly ahead of a busy festive fixture period.

Victor Lindelof is expected to be okay for the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace after being cleared of injury.

The Manchester United defender was replaced at half-time in Turkey on Saturday with early reports suggesting Lindelof had suffered a muscle related problem. However, following Sweden’s Nations League win, head coach Janne Andersson moved quickly to allay growing fears. "Victor did not feel well but he finished the first half." Then, speaking on Swedish sports television channel SportExpressen, team-mate Andreas Granqvist revealed. "I think he felt a little bad before the match and felt a bit dizzy when he started. He felt drowsy and without energy and could not continue. It was a cold. He felt ineffective." The 2018 Swedish Player of the Year has faced many critics since his arrival at Old Trafford, but the 24-year-old is enjoying his best run in the side, only missing the win over Newcastle this season. Lindelof was praised for his outstanding performance in Turin recently after United secured a famous win over a Juventus side led by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Paul Dummett picked up an injury while representing Wales on Friday evening which could leave Newcastle United without a specialist left-back for the game at Turf Moor.

Dummett was making his first start for the senior side, but his night ended on a sour note when he was replaced in the 39th minute following a cynical challenge on Yussuf Poulsen. He injured himself in the tackle which also earned him a caution – Chris Gunter came on in his place and the Reading defender will play in Albania on Tuesday. There is no word on the extent of his injury, but if Dummett does miss out in game week 13, then Rafa Benitez may decide to alter his formation against Burnley. Both Kenedy and Javier Manquillo have deputised on the left in a back four, but given the form of Frederico Fernandez and Fabian Schär recently, plus the expected return of captain Jamaal Lascelles, Benitez could opt for three centre-halves with DeAndre Yedlin and Kenedy providing the width in a 3-5-2.

Antonio Valencia marked his return to competitive action with a goal in Ecuador’s 2-0 win over Peru during the early hours of Friday morning.

The Red Devils captain started for the first time since October, and speaking after the friendly, Valencia suggested that his recent absence from the United squad was a tactical decision, rather than injury-related. "The relationship with Mourinho has always been a good one," he told Area Deportiva radio. "The player who has been in my place [Ashley Young] has been playing well. You have to respect the decision." However, this contradicts Mourinho’s comments from earlier this month which suggested Valencia was unavailable for selection. "I watched something funny in his Instagram where he says 'work, work, work' in the gym," he said. "He should say 'work, work, work’ alone because I am injured, and I cannot train with the team." Jose criticised Valencia’s lack of fitness at the start of the campaign after he limped off after just 7 minutes in a pre-season friendly against San Jose because of a calf problem.

Romelu Lukaku has failed to recover from a hamstring related problem ruling the Manchester United striker out of Belgium’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Iceland.

The 25-year-old returned to Jose Mourinho’s matchday squad on Sunday having missed the two previous games with a muscle/tendon injury which he sustained on the eve of the trip to Bournemouth in game week eleven. Initially, United had hoped that Lukaku could recover in time for the trip to Turin in the Champions League four days later, but he wasn’t cleared to rejoin the group until later in the week. "He could be back," Jose said ahead of the derby. "We have one more session [to see if] he is ready." Lukaku was passed fit and entered the game at the Etihad as a substitute, but it appears that he aggravated the problem once more during his 30-minute cameo and he has been unable to train with the national team. Belgium face Switzerland on Sunday and it remains unclear whether Lukaku is fit enough to feature in Luzern.

Shane Long looks set for a spell on the side-lines as he may need surgery to cure a longstanding ankle problem.

The Southampton striker was poised to line-up against Watford last weekend, but suffered a setback in training on Friday, and now Mark Hughes believes that an operation may be the only answer. "He might need a small procedure on his ankle to address that problem he had had for some time," he said. "If he does, and it's not confirmed as yet, it could be a little bit of washout to free out the ankle. That would be two weeks maybe." However, the Saints boss went onto add that if the problem is more serious than initially thought, then Long could be missing for up-to six weeks, ruling him out until the new year. With Danny Ings currently nursing a hamstring problem, Southampton would potentially head into game week 13 relying on Charlie Austin as the only experienced out-and-out striker available.

Brighton's former record-signing Jurgen Locadia wants to leave the club in January according to reports in his homeland, The Netherlands.

Locadia claims he "never had the chance" to show his ability for the Premier League club, whilst also claiming that he is not sure why he hasn't been playing nor does he believe the situation will improve. Locadia spoke about his initial good form after his January move but aired his frustration at how that didn't translate into game-time, with his pre-season efforts apparently going without notice. Judging by Locadia's quotes, it seems it will be very difficult for Chris Hughton to bring Locadia into the first team without appearing to bow to player pressure even though the team are performing well. A move away, or at least a loan, seems likely in the winter transfer window.

Veteran Brighton striker Glenn Murray has signed a one-year extension to his current contract which will keep him at the AMEX until the end of next season.

Murray, 35 since September, is the Seagulls' top scorer so far this term with six Premier League goals - just two short of Golden Boot leader Sergio Aguero. Brighton manager Chris Hughton said: "We are delighted to have extended Glenn’s contract. He has proved a vital member of the team and his goals have been crucial to us." Murray recently passed the 100 goal milestone for Brighton, and he is now just 23 short of taking the all-time record. Many expected Murray to fade out of the Brighton side this season but so far, he has successfully made himself undroppable.
